It's rather expensive but the finishing is really exceptional. One needs to have it on the wrist to appreciate how well made it really is.

I have the 383, the black version, and it's a fantastic watch. The finishing is very good, the bezel action is also good, the winding is smooth, and it's been keeping good time. I know many have a hard time with any Seiko over $600.00, but you're going to have to face facts... they're going up market and offering many watches over 1k.

The watch seems very special. It has a different look then most dive watches. I never had a Seiko but I think I will try to get this one for sure.

Seiko cracks me up with their $1700 watches arriving in cheap ass boxes, but then they’ll put a LE or SE $300 Seiko 5 in an extravagant box.

I can't recall exactly for this one but typically I try to aim for at least 20% - 30% on Seiko. Obviously depends on the dealer and it can help if you buy regularly from them or go through a watch club 🙂
Nice video there's one thing I don't like about Seiko is y don't they sign their crown u can buy much cheaper watches and u will see the crown signed without the crown signed it makes the watch look cheap on my opinion

Thank you for your video. I instead got the SPB383 which is a really cool watch, with it being 42mm which sits perfectly on the wrist. However, I'm not a big fan of the bracelet!

Looks good under the lights, but how is it under "normal" circumstances? I got a Squalé 1545 GMT that lookes very similar to that under bright light, but unfortunately in everyday wearing just looks Black. I'd be afraid this is much the same!? Incidentally, spec's wise the Squalé compares very well and is about half the price of this.😢
It's lovely outside - the green pops on a cloudy day...Indoors without direct light it can be harder to see green on the dial but it isn't as you're describing with the Squale. I had one of the Seiko presage 60s releases in dark green and that was hard to tell it was green unless it was in direct bright light...it was black 90% of the time. This is a lot better than that, it's obvious most of the time 🙂👍... I'll post outdoor footage when I complete the review. I love the 1545, and Squale in general, awsome brand 🍻... I think the finishing on the hands, dial and case for the Seiko would be a level up from the 1545, but the bracelet really let's it down again. No matter how much I like the Seiko I can't see it how will ever be good value at the RRP.
Great preview! Can't wait till the full review. Maybe a question after your review but, is the bracelet the same exact as the spb (62 MAS remake) series? I have a spb series watch and the bracelet is real uncomfortable for me. A lot of hot spots and feels way too heavy. I fitted an uncle seiko bracelet on my spb series watch. I was just wondering if that same aftermarket bracelet would fit on this watch?
Thanks for the comments 😎🍻 & great question. So previously I had the SPB297 and as far as I can see the stock Seiko bracelet is identical apart from the end links. On this GMT they're curved to fit the case but I think straight cut on the 62mas. Same tinny clasp and other than that the links look and feel the same. I can feel an uncle Seiko upgrade for this one when they release them for these models, but will likely have to wait because of the end links 🙂👍

@@arthurcheung8864 I did not end up getting the watch. Big part is the bracelet is not good for the price since it’s identical to my spb series watches. If the price goes down on this watch enough to make me interested in it, I would also wait until strap code and uncle seiko make a watch bracelet. I got a zx199 bracelet from uncle seiko for my sbp 147 and it’s way more comfy than the stock bracelet.
i have the gmt Sharp Edge Presage which I picked up secon hand for about half the price of new. its losing about 7 seconds a day. I'm thinking about swapping it the Mount Fuji navy dial limited edition. but I'm starting to see a few deals on the Longines Zulu GMT. Pease do a loupe test on your new Seiko. i found a defect on my dial but it was completely invisible to the naked eye.

@@nextonthewrist a string of transparent glue on the dial in between hour markers. Since the dial is white they clearly missed it at the Seiko factory. Amazing how many little defects you see with a loupe. I also saw many random scratches on movement.

Definitely lighter than other Seikos I've felt, it is a good point. I like the low resistance, as I'd still have to knock it really hard to move it...but that's very much personal preference. Thanks for the comment 🙂👍

Looks really nice...but just like you I am very disappointed with the clasp and bracelet considering the price tag...Plus at over a grand, Seiko need to put a real true GMT....even citizen coming with a true gmt at under $1800.
The rubber strap is excellent.
It's a more beautiful green (and much more appropriate for a luxury watch) than the Rolex or any other diver for that matter.
It's very nice but Oris have some beautiful greens too, there's a few great options around.

No signed crown at that price is ridiculous.
Yep - I don't know why Seiko find it such a challenge to do this 😬
I’ve noticed that Seiko is very rarely signing their crown, regardless of price points. Which, to me, doesn’t take away from this watch as it’s technically supposed to be used for diving and you don’t really want to have sand and other micro particles having a chance to get into the movement.
A signed crown would not affect the water resistance or fod ingress. The crown and stem o-rings are internal and the surface that would be milled is external.

You’re all probably right, my point still remains though. Fewer and fewer Seiko watches have crowns that are signed. Does that make them less worth the money? I don’t think so. In the case of this watch, which I own, functionally is what I prioritized. GMT, reliable automatic movement, 200m water res, sapphire crystal, and a ceramic bezel on 42mm case that wants to be turned were the real real selling points for me. The only other watches like it at this price point are more dressier Presage GMTs ($1400) or the smaller Seiko 5 GMT (less than $500) both of which don’t have the signed crown.
+ - 35 every 24 hrs is unregulated Seiko quality as usual. But, it can be fixed , fortunately!
I think at this price point the tolerance is too wide - though they typically sit around +\-12 out the box... They should guarantee this smaller tolerance when you're talking about $1500.
@@nextonthewrist thats better but it could be made to zeroed by a professional. you would think, but even Grand Seiko's are notoriously off.
This is where my issue is the the 6r - they don't hold the regulation. Every watch I've ever regulated comes back the same 3-6 months later on the time grapher. 6r movements...never 😂...I know a few people with similar experiences too. That is the 6r35 though, something is strange about it but I don't know enough to say what it is 😁 - this new one we will see but I think it's the same architecture.
