I mean, Lea was on Broadway and Naya's version was transposed down, a thing that would never happend in a real audition, so no... I love Naya, but she does not have the consistency of a Broadway performer.
Ehhhh I have mixed opinions on that statement. For me Naya, Lea, and Amber are the “holy trinity” when it comes to vocals on the show. Everyday the one I love most differs. They all have different styles but imo they all are phenomenal singers and everyone has their own preferences. Lea is more Broadway with the Broadway poor belts. Then you have amber who is far more soulful with a bigger range I believe and you have Naya who doesn’t have quite as much range as the other two I believe but can sing just about anything and make it work. She also can control her texture of her voice very well I mean I’ve heard her sing very soft and emotional songs and harder, more aggressive songs and pull them off. I wouldn’t say Naya is strictly better than lea or vice versa and same with amber it really just comes down to preference
The guy that worked with them in the studio and recorded all the vocals for the show tweeted years ago that he did the least amount of work on Nayas voice. He said that she nailed it everytime and he almost never had to fix anything. Reading that made me love her voice that much more ❤

I always loved his voice and I love that he wasn’t a singer. He had never sung in front of anyone before Glee and you can hear him get better as the seasons go on. They also start to give him songs that better suite his voice. By the time they get to Paradise By The Dashboard Lights he is amazing.
I think they are all good but Melissa Benoists voice is so calming to me and i could listen to it all day. Chris Colfer sounds the same as he did on glee, absolutely amazing and so underrated. Chord Paul Overstreet needs to record an album, if he does i would buy it.

I’ll never understand why from a show running perspective Ryan Murphy allowed his hard on for Lea to stifle all the insane talent he scored for that show. Imagine constantly sidelining talent like Amber, Naya, Kevin, Jenna etc. so Rachel can get her 13th solo of the week. Don’t get me wrong Lea’s talented, but jeez what a waste of all those incredible singers.
it's a shame that this cast had so much talent and yet a lot was never showcased. even the people who did get showcased often was never enabled to fully show their potential because of how much the producers autotuned them or just gave them songs which didn't even suit their voices
Well in the first season, the producers described Lea's voice as once in a generation, and the show was thus built around her. There was a lot of money on the line so they wanted to guarantee success and highlight her. Everyone else was very good as well. It's easy to take for granted now because we've heard Lea's voice so many times now, and naturally many would like to hear more of a variety and use the other performers more, but there is no doubt she had the voice that hooked me and had me mesmerized very early in that show.

However, i would argue that the quality and clarity in her voice (which some called generic) is world class and makes her an immense talent. It's sort of like Lea Salonga, who has made some amazing songs for Disney, but would starve as a pop star.

You should've include The First Noel from Glee for Melissa. From what I've read, that was not studio recording. She sang it while filming and without background music whatsoever (CMIIW)

Corey is that for me and I didn’t even discover Glee until years after he passed away. In fact, the very first Glee episode I ever watched was his tribute episode. There is something so genuine and lovable about him. I can’t help but wonder what the show could have been if he didn’t pass. Naya’s death really got to me too. Very tragic when a young person dies before their time.

I've just noticed that Lea tends to run out of breath a lot, also she seemed really tired in most of these clips, which is a bit strange for someone used to performing 8 shows a week. Like, that forces you to build a LOT of stamina, otherwise, you can't make it through. I wonder if she's had any health problems that might affect her singing
