The actress who played Carol, Finn’s mom, has always amazed me. When she confesses to her son that his dad died of overdose, and when she mourns him in season 5, she always makes me cry the most

@Don K Umm hate to tell you but that wasn't positive Ryan got her that audition she was getting abused by Blake Jenner also know as Ryder. That's also why they had a new cast in season 6.
I think when they were working on the 4th season when Finn was having all these problems, they know that he was going through the real thing IRL. He had been in and out of rehab by that point.
@@daniaefe2192 The actor Mark Salling who plays Noah Puckermann was supposed to go to jail for child porn possession in 2018 but ended up killing himself before that.
I think the story line of Finn's father death could've at least make Cory feel not alone. The line when Carol say "he was so much more than the last few months of his life" is so important. Here are 2 things either someone knew and wanted to help him like this with the show, or this was totally casual. But rewatching this now Cory was for sure so much more than that. Many remember him as "the Glee actor who died with OD".. not for me, in my eyes he's a poor guy who had an addiction and deserved better. He was funny, talented, always there for the people he loved (many of the Glee cast said he was always there for you if you needed something). He was so much more than that.
In the same exact episode Finn says his dreams don’t work because he has “loser DNA”. Calling drug addicts losers is the exact opposite of helpful and respectful. The writers exploited and made a mockery of his addiction and they should be ashamed.
I rewatched the series last summer and the mark salling foreshadowing freaked me out but I never made the connection between Finns dad's story and Cory 😩😭

code ghost Omg that’s so strange. Either there were too many eerie things happening during that show or Ryan Murphy was privy to information other people weren’t and subtly included it in the writing.
It was to highlight that these things actually happen in real life, and the fact that Ryan no doubt put Finn's drug and Puck's child storylines in the show to alert the actors to their issues, proves that. The thing is, while he was trying to wake them up to help, you can only really help a person if they are willing to accept it. As for Lea, she irked me from the beginning. Not just Rachel as a character but how she always wanted to be front and centre. I get that actors often portray characters that are opposite to themselves, but yeah, she was definitely no innocent flower.
I can’t say the child porn but he always knew about Corys struggles. That’s why he left in the middle of the season so he could go to rehab for the second time on behalf of Murphy’s request. The cast helped him multiple times and he was on the right path again until he met up with his old drug friends and we know where the rest of the story goes.
Snail_Lesbian With_Bread I don’t think he knew he had child porn, but I think it was a well-known rumor that Mark Salling liked young (really young) women. Like it was kind of a joke cuz he’d have girlfriends that were “barely legal” but no one knew to what extent they were right.
I hate how the creator of the show clearly knew alot about every actor and took horrible things about them and put it in the plot, WHY did he make Cory's character be so connected to drugs when it's clear that in real life Cory actually struggled with it and eventually passed from it!.
If we're trying to be positive, I think Ryan Murphy intentionally did it as a way to help Cory with his drug addiction. What's tragic was at the end of Season 4 Finn was hardly seen because Cory voluntarily checked himself into rehab, only to ultimately succumb in the end.....
@staymad3020 he wanted to leave because he started to hate the dancing and singing of cover songs. He wanted to challenge himself with different roles and grow as an actor. He also despised the souless hollywood lifestyle and wanted to move back to Canada, which led him to become depressed.

There was this moment in the first season of The Glee Project when Mark Salling asked Alex Newell "Are you old enough to be sexy?" ... I think those moments in Glee were not just coincidences. Most likely, writers had this vibe about him already when they wrote Puck's lines.
The day they found Naya’s body I was watching it and this one scene came on and it was where Santana was going through problems cause a video made her come out and Finn came up to her and said “I don’t want you to die..” and I started crying
Watching compilations of Will being a horrible teacher: I can't believe he said NOTHING when Rachel made a flat out racist remark, only responding when Mercedes threatened her. Like, if he had reprimanded her, Mercedes wouldn't have had to say that. Jesus.
He's absolutely a horrible teacher. In one episode he suspended Marley (who he knows struggles with an eating disorder) for refusing to wear a bikini during a performance.
Let's not forget that this is a script; it was written so that Mercedes could have her "carpet" line. If Mr. Shue had said something, her character responding wouldn't have made sense; ergo, not good TV.
ugh that line spoken to Cory at 3:49 really hits: "Because your dad was so much more than the last few months of his life." :( I can't imagine what was going through Cory's mind while filming that scene and everyone in it looking back at it now... I wonder if the cast in that scene also knew what we all didn't and why that scene was a lot more personal than we'd predict.
yes, that scene is in the end of the season before the season he died, when they all have to decide what to do after graduating... maybe they couldnt do what they wanted with the character because of cory behaviour on set and had to plan the next season with him showing less to take care of himself. So they created in the last episodes this excuse to Rachel go alone to NY and for not showing Cory in every episode: he is in the army. The spooky thing is that his character dies like the story: goes to the army, comes back and dies at home by overdose. They definitely chose that story to send him a message.
I'm pretty sure in Nayas's book, she states Cory was upfront from day one about his past. And us fans knew after his 'Parade' interview, so everyone knew way way way before this scene was even written. ❤

The writers exploited and made a mockery of his addiction and they should be ashamed.

code ghost Omg that’s so strange.

Ryan Murphy had to have known abt Mark Sallings and Cory Monteith's stuff because those lines are way too accurate.
They did the story line of finn’s dad dying of a drug overdose to help Cory through his addiction
@Lily Curtin-Adelman I hadn't seen that
Seriously, especially the lines w Mark. They’re just way too accurate
What's tragic was at the end of Season 4 Finn was hardly seen because Cory voluntarily checked himself into rehab, only to ultimately succumb in the end.....
because he had experenice with that life style now look everytime and drug related line with finn do cory acting be on point
So if you have a drug problem, instead of addressing it, you want to avoid talking about it until it's too late?

ugh that line spoken to Cory at 3:49 really hits: "Because your dad was so much more than the last few months of his life." :(
I can't imagine what was going through Cory's mind while filming that scene and everyone in it looking back at it now...
