Thank you. What do you do to prevent the aliasing/stepping effect on the edges of the model? Do you have any tips to ensure that Substance Painter accurately displays details like worn edges?
I would like to use Modeler more but find the most frustrating part is that you can create layers but there is no layers panel, so there is no way of moving things around if you needed to, and just a way to see what parts of that clay model is connected. If you don't intend the add a layers panel, I suggest renaming the button called layers to something else.
You can move things around though? Use Shift-select in scene mode to select them, then gizmo to move. Grouping helps with coming back to the same selection all the time. Make sure to watch the scene assembly video: ruclips.net/video/qi2_wn138w0/видео.html
@@Substance3D The spirit of the above comment is that in every app that has layers, there is a layer panel (or "outliner") to select them and toggle them on and off. Hence the term "layer" in the context of Substance Modeler is confusing, at least initially. Searching for the non-existent layer panel is the first thing I did too when firing up the program (only to then realize that there is no such thing). Might as well call these scene elements "objects" rather than layers.
How do I pull it out? I tried pull it out, but couldn't figure out which key to press for pull it out like you did with 1:29. Just bought the yearly plan witih $549.88, but can't really follow up with this tutorial anyway. (Sigh)
Nevermind, I finally figured it out. I forgot I have to press and hold Space key to pull it. Geez. I feel dumb, and nearly gave up trying to get this work. But anyway, I really like Substance 3D Modeler is pretty awesome by the way!
Hey Danny, make sure to watch some of our getting started videos first, they cover all the basics. These project tutorials assume you already know the buttons..
Have you encountered any problems switching between VR modes? Due to the replacement of a new Quest2, the software is now only available in desktop mode, using a Cable connection. Help
Implementing side, front and top views with the ability to put images in the background as reference would be so useful and easy to program, but it probably won't be done, because conceptttttttttttttttttttt only.
When I turn on symmetry with the warp tool selected, it doesn't show the mirrored cube like in the video, I still only see just one cube. But if I apply the warp tool, it's applying to both sides of the object. So seems like symmetry IS working, but it's hard line up the center line perfectly without seeing both boxes. Where's my mirrored box??
When i modelise with Clay tool and i click on select tool, what i was modeling in clay tool just dissapear, i really don't understand how duplicate an object in clay mode (
That's probably because you didn't apply the clay: apply it first, then it will stay if you go in select mode. As for duplicating: you can select a layer and press CTRL+D
Hey, Modeler is a very different app from Designer, yes. You can get Modeler through Creative Cloud, if you get the full Substance pack. Modeler will come to Steam in the future.
@@Substance3D That's awesome! Will you need Creative Cloud running in order to boot it through Steam? Also, can MODELER utilize DXF files? I want to load flat illustrator designs onto 3D garments.
@@Dan-lu7vi No CC needed for the steam versions. Modeler doesn't support DXF just yet, ref images as a whole are a bit tricky, but you can watch the sword tutorial to see how it's done.
Echoing Mythical Arts comment. Whatever you did between 1:29 and 1:31 is not clear. I am duplicating the object and not pulling it. Please let us know. Spending over 30, now over an hour, with failed attempts just to do this step is frustrating me terribly. Using V 1.1.1.
Hey there, in this section we are using the warp tool on 100% strength with symmetry enabled and holding down space to perform the action whilst we pull outwards on the triangle. Be sure to watch our Modeler First Steps tutorial series to understand these techniques before following this playlist as these videos assume a basic understanding of Modeler. What about us, the Mac users? We pay our description and we watch every Modeler stuff like we live on a secondary world. When I saw the launch of the Modeler I couldn't even think that we weren't able to use this app. Come on, Mac users are a major part of creatives.
Lol Mac users....jk I wish I could use procreate but I can't and I want that program so bad. If both sides just stop trying to single platform most of these apps then we would all be happy.
I'm hoping in the future it will be available for macOS. It's only version 1, and still feels very much like a beta in a lot of ways (I have a Win11 machine too). It's very limiting compared to the rest of the substance 3D package, so my guess is that once it meets a higher standard that it will come to macOS. Saying that though, I remember that a lot of 3D software is Windows and Linux only due to the hardware it works best on (intel/nvidia).
Compared to Maya, or even opensource and free Blender, Adobes attempt to steal some space in the 3D modeling world is a little dissapointing. I have used Adobe products since the mid-2000s and after trying out their 3D modeling in very dissapointed. Substance painter is still awesome though.
this is a waste of time its a childs project VR modeling is not going to be a thing ubless you want to work with a Bucket beside you. and its to lite to be good.
This is too cool. Love how you did this so quickly!
i learnt a lot of cool but small 3d modelling concepts
Thank you
Where's the Layers Panel ???
This is an Adobe Program ...
it needs to have a Layers Panel.
Top right

I love how natural this workflow looks compared with classic modeling. Man, I miss Algorithmics free Student license :(
you don't have to miss it: they are still free: substance3d.adobe.com/education/

I'm curious as to which modeling package you came from previously.
was always curious about Substance modeler, interesting workflow shame you didnt show how the actual topology logic works though.
It's voxel. Topology isn't what it's known for. Export quads or retopo in another app.
I need mobile game assets. love what I see, but I am not able to export a low-poly mesh with good topology. How to do that? thx a bunch!
I really wish Adobe would offer this program separately from the whole Substance.
$150 on Steam
would love to see 3d solid modelling implemented ..

Is there retopology and proper topology flow in the end?
You can choose to decimate and generate UVs at export. You can either export as triangles or quads.

Hi! How to change mirror axis?
can I lower the export size of my model from here and import it thru Sketch Up?
Definitely faster than other modelling softwares!
HAAAAAAA dont think so. if they turn back the speed of the video it will be hour or more same time like modelling process, this si more voxeling.
lol go back to sleep noob

Hey Greg! Thanks so much for pointing this out - it seems like it's a little bug, we've made the dev team aware of this, thanks! 😊
Do I kinda need a graphic tablet for working with this software current and future workflows?
Not really, though some workflows benefit from it. This was made completely without.

Unfortunately no, non-uniform scaling in scene mode is not possible yet. Warping is the closest thing.
