We are backpacking the beautiful tropical paradise of Jamaica. 🌴 We have been enjoying Port Antonio in Portland Perish, where our adventure continues! We explored the ruins of an old abandoned mansion in the jungle and made our way to Reach Falls from Cocktail with Tom Cruise. Reach was maybe our favourite activity in all of Jamaica! Check it out.

Nice one Your trip to the great house brings back memories when I worked with Eddie Murphy and Shaba ranks on the music video called Wise Up right there at the great house. Blessed one I grew up there.
Glad you enjoyed it. It was very cool to see and very neat that you worked on that video. I just watched it. 👍

Portland Jamaica
All of Jamaica is real Sir!
Our title, and series, is about getting off the (albeit nice) foreign owned resorts and getting into the country to see what the country is really like, not the artificial world behind the walls of resorts. :)
@@WanderingBluePassports Most hotels are Jamaican owned such as, Sandals, Breezes, Beaches, Couples, Hedonism, FDR's, Super Resorts, Grand Lido, Swept Away, Hilton Jamaica, too many to list. Google it. Stop the myth all the hotels are foreign owned.
@@WanderingBluePassports you are absolutely right.

@@WanderingBluePassports ok I can see that you guy's enjoy yourself
He said that ruins place doesn't look Jamaican?.
Great houses in Jamaica are where slave masters lived. They are a part of an oppressive and sad story. 🥲
Sad indeed.
Specifically maintaining the ruins of an old great house as a historic site may be a very poignant message by the government. A "look at you now" statement. A reminder of what was, and a message about how it's changed?
@@WanderingBluePassports Jamaicans are generally very indifferent about great houses. However, there are a few, about a dozen, that have been maintained and are used as educational resources, much like a museum, for natives and tourists. One such, is The Rose Hall Great House in Montego Bay, my home town, now a city.
