After an adjustment period of getting used to the weird aiming system the game completely engrossed me, and it strikes the perfect balance of fun but not being easy. Fun fact, the villagers say " catch him" in spanish, the word being "cojedlo", but this is the way of meaning it in the european variant of Spanish (the spanish spoken in Spain). My absolute favourite moment of RE4 are the wolves. I hate them so much. Before the baby in RE8, they were the most scared I had been in an RE game. I’ve asked other people and they don’t find them nearly as scary as I do but when I first encountered them on my way back to the graveyard and castle all I had was rifle ammo and in the distance I could see their eyes just their eyes glowing, so I scoped in (which was also terrifying with their slobbering mouths wide with sharp teeth) and shot one of them. And then they all came running down the ramp and all I had was the rifle and I didn’t think to pull out my knife and they just kept jumping on me and biting me and I hated it I hated it and I didn’t play the game for a week after that.
AND THEN at the maze section where all the wolves are locked in the cages I could see them and thought, being the genius I am, I could shoot a grenade with the grenade launcher to kill them all. I shot it and it ONLY broke the lock, setting them all free and it was terrifying, I was always on edge wondering if I had killed the last one and I hated it. With that said though RE 4 is a 10/10 game, it was my favourite in the series before 8 (I love 8 it’s incredible)

Wow it’s amazing how many videos I’ve seen of people playing RE4 in 2021 since I played it for the first time and finished it like two days ago. Honestly it still stands up, and given the design philosophy and how the RE3 remake went, I don’t really want it to be remade. You gonna take away Leon’s wrestling moves Capcom??? Over my dead, Las Plagas infected body!

I’ve beaten 2, 3, and 4 in the last few weeks…4 being the only one I’ve actually beaten, but like 15 years ago.
It absolutely still holds up, I think it can definitely benefit from some updated controls and QOL stuff, but I had a blast playing through it again.
With RE going further from its roots, I think it’s great because it gives each game its own identity.
I’m almost done with 5 right now and at first I thought it was boring, and then once you get into the actual story, I started really enjoying it.
We’ll see about 6, everyone seems to shit on it, so I have low expectations lol.

Being born in 2005 i was never really into resident evil because i was too young but with the coming of resi 7 and the remakes i got into the resident evil games. Resident Evil 4 is actually the first resi game i ever played even though i know the plot of the games. I fell in love with Resident evil 4 with just the constant action and having to manage my inventory to survive was got me really involved and all the QTE's during cutscenes to make me always stay alert was really involving and fun. Allthough the Resident Evil 4 game is seen as the tipping point that is one of the things i love about the RE games. The story is in most games rather intruiging and just the full blown craziness of it all. If i see a huge giant with a parasite sticking out of it i dont even care because it is RE and all the craziness that is left out of other games Capcom just thinks why the hell not.
So to sum it up what i love about RE4 and the franchise in generel is the intruiging story, the full blown craziness where you dont even have to ask and how involving it can get making you always on edge

The controls may seem outdated, but they were specifically built into the game’s core design that they never feel outdated. In fact, my primary concern about the upcoming remake is whether they could capture the original game’s stop-and-shoot rhythm and sense of momentum - the potent concoction of tension we all know and love. RE4 is one of those very special pieces of media that may never age, simply due to the fact that everything about it is just so objectively singular.

That's my secret. I never stopped playing Resident Evil 4. Literally picked up Village and was a beast in it instantly, with the dozens of playthroughs I've clocked in 4.

Haters can hate all they want but this is not only my favorite RE of all time but also my favorite game of all time. I've beaten this game more times than some of my friends have beaten other games put together. The word ICONIC gets thrown around alot but RE4 is legit. You can hate what came after it but all the hate in the world will never change the fact that RE4 is one of the best video games of all time. I feel as though it's just one of the known life truths. Grass is green, sky is blue, birds fly, fish swim, and RE4 is the best title in the series.

Played it when it was ported to PC and even without mouse support. We played with my best friend on his PC on the summer vacations, when he was left home alone for a couple of months I guess (I guess we were about 14). It was pretty hot summer, so for the most part of a day we were on a street, and when sun came down, we sat behind computer and started playing it in turns all night long. Never played it since even if it is deep in my heart.
P.S. It was in Russia for context - so no AC, almost no consoles, but a lot of cheap beer that was sold to underage kids without any questions.

I definitely want a REMAKE of Resident Evil 4!! There is so much you can do to that particular game, so as long as CAPCOM doesn’t go the route of taking out content (*cough* RE3 *cough*) or making the game episodic (*cough* Final Fantasy VII *cough*)!
My Resident Evil 4 remake WISH list
    1. Highly improved textures
    2. New modernized character models
    3. 60fps/1080p up to 4K minimum
    4. Improved special effects/shadows/lighting
    5. Improved sound and sound effects
    6. Expand the rural village scenario at the beginning of the game
    7. Streamline Ashley escort missions
    8. Expand and/or modify inventory
    9. Include ALL existing Patches/Updates/DLC
    10. Add new bosses
    11. Improve and/or weather effects
    12. Modify the storyline to make it a bit more cohesive
    13. Include “Wii Remote-like” control options
    14. Release game as Collector’s or Limited Edition
    15. Add additional unlockables like behind-the-scenes/making of
    16. Make sure game is COMPLETE before launching
    17. Keep in-game cutscenes
    18. Include alternate camera perspectives
    19. Destructible environments

Good call on this video. I just played through this again a couple of months ago. I remember getting this on PS2 in October 2005 and not knowing what to expect. The cabin scene really stood out to me. Crossing that bridge and being trapped in the cabin was awesome! I think my favorite part of the game is the woods/village portion. The atmosphere and suspense is perfect!

Honestly man I am a big fan of this franchise, but RE4 is my all time Favorite game. I just can't get enough of it just like you said the vibe the cinematography, action story every fucking thing in this game is magical, especially the treasure hind (hidden treasures) are great to find and selling them to the merchant give a great satisfaction.

I definitely remember the days and weeks before RE4, I was scared to play it because of the chainsaw guy. Then I thought I was facing my fears by playing it until I got introduced to the invisible bug and the super scary pointy/twitchy monster in the garbage disposal area. My god!
I really hope we get to see another Outbreak though. It’s the perfect 2-4 player coop game, different scenarios, different unique characters, limited storage that forces you to communicate with your teammates, solving puzzles and fighting zombies and getting infected. Such a great idea that was waaay ahead of it time.

Don't get me wrong I liked 4, I think the gameplay mechanics innovations & the tone were awesome, but even back then I could see the way the winds were blowing & fell off @ 5&6, now with 8 right around the corner & it's heavy 4 influences clear to see I'd prefer a CV or 1 remake before a 4, I know the assets will make it a quicker & easier job but I just think CV & 1 deserve it more, great vid Jake thanks & keep up the fantastic work bud 👍
