I cried. As an Alliance player; he is the Warchief I want to defeat. As a Horde player; he is the Warchief I want to stand with! With Saurfang living through so much, witnessing so much... loosing so much; I feel he will adopt the Horde, perhaps as a lost child, and show it true honor and respect, as the members deserve. During the intro for the forsaken in classic wow the speaker says this: "Convinced that the primitive races of the horde can help them achieve victory over their enemies, the forsaken have entered an alliance of convenience. Harboring no true loyalty for their new allies. They will go to any lengths to ensure their dark plans come to fruition." I mean, that pretty much sums it up, doesn't it? Sylvanas doesn't care about the horde. She has her own agenda.

There’s a scenario after the events that explains it all very well. Once it’s over, thrall gives undercity back to sylvanas, but also leaves the korkron vanguard to keep an eye on her.

Saurfang always wished to die an honorable death through Mak'Ghora, and now he found it fit to do so since the hordes honor is lost in what sylvanas did.
The only problem with "honorable death through Mak'Ghora" is that Alliance doesn't have anyone who would stand a chance versus Saurfang in Mak'Ghora :-D

The short story 'A good war' kinda explains Syl's action. Saurfang and Syl had planned to capture Darnasus and destroy the elves' hope by killing a certain individual but that plan failed and so Syl did this thinking that this would utterly crush the elves but the opposite happened. Also if you read 'Elegy' it explains that Syl's previous plan was basically dependent on how Genn reacts and we find out that Genn would have reacted honourably and so that plan was bound to fail to. So basically the burning of Teldrassil was not just evil but also a bad decision by a leader.

well this is war , people always die. even if sylvanas changed her mind and burned down the f*cking tree instead of invading , it's still a good course of action to take control all over kalimdor and to ensure the horde safety (like the bombing of theramore) and to cut down your enemies supply line of azurite .plus with graymane next to anduin their is no guarantee alliance won't attack horde either . whatever people like it or not it was the best action to burn that tree and kill those furries . may the dark lady watch over us

Sylvanas knew that Saurfang didn't follow through with the murder of Malfurion when she was talking to Summermoon, according to the novellas. So was going to still occupy the tree and keep it hostage to prevent the war as she approached the beach. However, after Summermoon told her that capturing the World Tree will not break their spirits, Sylvanas reacted to that, and went to plan B. Her WHOLE plan was to kill the Alliance Spirit, and since she was told that Plan A wasn't going to work (capturing the tree) she went to plan B ("BURN IT!")
yea her whole plan from AtoZ backfired if anything it made most horde lose hope in their Warchief. Motivated and strengthened the Alliances resolve and just made them more dangerous because if the Alliance was hesitant about ising azerite for its destructive power you can bet they will use it against us now
@Joe Alexander if you would know, what the Deathknights did in Legion in the Name of the Lichking. We revived like 8 "Holy" Characters and we killed like another 8 "holy" characters. Also we Purged the Red dragonswarm at legion and so on. Bolvar is definitly on Sylvanas side.
In the latest WoW Vol'Jin's ghost admitted that the "Spirits" who told him to pick Sylvanas was something more Evil....and he started to investigate it.....Going to all the Death people in Azeroth and they all said they didn't manipulate him to pick her.....
That's impossible. Undeath makes you pratically immune to the whispers and corruption from the Void and Old Gods. As crazy as it might sound, the Void is a force of life and creation too, just like the Light, they're both one side of a coin. But death is just that, death. In the three sisters comics when Alleria sees Sylvanas, the whispers of the Void actually go crazy and tell her to kill her sister right there right now, because she serves the true enemy, which would be the force of death.
I love the fact that they showed Saurfang immediately protesting after the tree burned, since one of the criticisms of the warbringers was that no one bothered to challenge Sylvannas for doing it. This proves otherwise and what better character to do it.
TheLordOfMystic don't lose hope in your side. I may be alliance, but don't let one person make you lose your pride in your clan and your lineage. Just because what Sylvanas did doesn't mean you are no longer a proud member of the Horde it means that you have a Warchief that doesn't care about you. She sees the Horde an an army she can use to get what she wants. Don't forget what Vol'jin and Thrall taught you. That you are a warrior for Honor not war.

fugu pinkeye cupcake, the original intro cinematic to The Forsaken starting zone says this and I quote " have entered into an alliance of convenience with the horde with no true loyalty to their new allies" The original quests before cataclysm for the undead starting area literally have you making a plague on her orders to use against other members of The Horde and the alliance you even test it on some members of The Horde. So you tell yourself whatever you want. she was never a "good" character. She's evil and that's part of what makes her interesting. You just keep being salty and feeling however you want to feel though.

I'm part of that half of the Horde you described. I play both factions as well but main Horde and oh boy do I feel bad to be Horde right now. I'm also losing *both* my favourite cities/zones, Lordaeron and Teldrassil. I'm like, so mad at Sylvanas but like Nixxiom said this isn't out of nowhere. She's always been self-serving and ruthless but still this is the worst she's done (obviously). I was rooting for her through everything but the tree was too much. It's basically the same as my feelings toward Fen'Harel/Solas in DA...want to stand by the character so badly because they're an awesome character and I love them but *I can't stand by genocide damn it*
Yeah I find Panzer's reactions to be very endearing. Bellular is very analytical, Taliesin and Eviltel are very playful in their videos, but none get as invested as Panzer. Makes me love the game more.
To the part ofSylvanas, She was always like that... if u remember southshore oder gilneas she dont hestiate to kill people and break their will The explination for the burning of Teldrassil is that she wants to break the hope of the Alliance, Sauerfang did not killed Malfurion so she needs an other way to break the hope. The Cinversation von the Nightelf was that she says "U cannot kill hope" she reacts to that like she ever did, with her cold heart
Flattening a *town* within spitting distance of you is a far cry from burning a capital city to the ground with it's entire civilian population. Not to mention the innocent fauna and flora of the tree. Even when she invaded Gilneas, she did not kill every man, woman, and child by burning the entire country to ash. But what really makes it so bad is that its just a whim to her. She wasn't planning on burning anything. She committed genocide in the name of the horde just to spite an already dying elf.
I feel like they bloodied every Horde player's hands and we didn't get anything to say about it with Sylvanas burning down a tree with a thousand innocents in it. I did not sign up for this, nor is this what the Horde is about.
You assume that no one wanted to burn the tree, but I for one fact loved that they burned the night elf city. You all whine and forget that WOW was losing the so called WAR in its name it was getting so sappy without any real resolutions. With this war Blizzard can finally tie up all the lose ends and go towards the TRUE peace resolution where the alliance and horde after massive number of loses and death can finally come to terms.
This cinematic shows the true Horde spirit. We fight for Honor, for Freedom, for a place in this World. Saurfang is what the Horde needs besides Sylvanas
Sylvanas & Jaina are my favourite reasons for being bi-factional, not sure where they are going with Sylvanas yet, but after this week I was close to being Anti-Horde, Saurfang the Redeemer! I feel I might be able to return with Honor to my Horde toons!
Kharlos the Gamer I don't get it.. What has Saurfang done in this cinematic that doesn't make you question what horde is still doing after this cinematic. And all this "there is no honor in this" bs by Saurfang is also weak. He just used heroic throw behind Malfurion's back while Malfurion was fighting Sylvanas. He has a weird definition of honor. BTW it's time to nerf the heroic throw.
Fair point Aboleo80, the axe to the back is still far from honorable. I personally felt that it at least went someway to showing that Saurfang is now wracked with guilt and doubt for following Sylvanas and her plans for the way she wants the war to go. It will be interesting to see where the storyline is going, I will have to keep playing both factions to see both sides of the story.
I do hope that Saurfang makes it through this expansion alive. From almost committing suicide before the Battle for Lordaeron, to getting hope, to collapsing and losing his will in the Stockades; he's definitely dealing with some demons at the moment.
If you haven't checked it yet, WoWhead has some of the Collector's Edition novellas posted and they go into some of her motivation into burning the tree. The gist is that she knew Malfurion lived and still wanted to find a way to "break" the fighting spirit of the Night Elves. Her conversation with Summermoon led her to realize that burning the tree might be the best way to do that, despite the retaliation it might bring. She also talks with Saurfang before the War of Thorns about why she thinks the time to attack is now. It's worth a look.
Saurfang was about to commit suicide because he lost his honor by letting Sylvanas commit such heinous, dishonorable actions. The shaman troll represents everyone in the Horde that is not Sylvanas and her followers. There are many who are innocents, who don't have anything else but the Horde. Saurfang went back to defend that part of the Horde which is at risk because of Sylvanas' actions. As an Ally, I respect Saurfang and I hope that, if it is necessary, we can give him the honorable death for which he yearns. I think Saurfang will rebel against Sylvanas for the control of the Horde. It is the only way he can resolve his internal conflict.
I propose that when Vol'jin said that the Loa had told him that Sylvanas was what the Horde needed - they meant that the Horde needed a strong force from within in order to Right itself Finally after the War in Pandaria and at the Siege of Ogrimmar. Sylvanas was never a good choice for leader. The Main character trait she has had since Warcraft 3 is that she will stubbornly fight and do anything she can to save her people. When she became Forsaken, her "people" did as well. All we have seen is her constant effort to keep the Forsaken alive in a world that doesn't understand them and in a situation where they cannot have children of their own and are slowly dying out. When Vol'jin gave her the mantle of Warchief, he knew she would abuse it and use it for the above purpose, it's what she has always done. But, as said in this theory, you sometimes have to take the hard path in order to reach your goal. At this point, I think Sylvanas will lose The Forsaken and the title of Warchief. She will either be killed, or she will be converted to a Lightforged Forsaken similar to Calia, or she will be exiled. The Horde will lose a Cool lore character, they will lose a Good General, but they will not lose a Good Leader.
Watching post 8.3. RIP Saurfang, what a leader. I appreciate your rant after watching the cinematic. Hopefully we still get more answers about Sylvanas! Even after Shadowlands announcements.

They actually do explain Sylvanas, just not in game or in the cinematic. Teldrassil was supposed to be a replacement for the wound that Malfurion's death was supposed to inflict. She had to do SOMETHING to the Alliance up there, otherwise she failed to kill Malfurion and walked away with the night elves unharmed and furious at her and the Horde.
Having played Horde for 14 years i have very strong opinions of what honor of the Horde means, so i have been feeling very lost after the burning of Teldrasil... Seeing this cinematic reinvigorated my belief in my Horde.
I play horde and I feel that what Sylvanas did was unnecessary and cruel. She needs answer for her dishonorable actions. I also would like to see Saurfang take over as Warchief 👍

Burning down the tree was a good thing. It was planted against the wishes of the ancients. Because the elves wanted to keep their eternal life. Sylvanas wants eternal life. Something to think about.
The Horde is not JUST the Warcheif. The Horde is its people, WE are the Horde. While some will blindly follow the leader There are others that will question them.
As a 90 to 95% alliance player and fan I truly hope both Saurfang becomes leader of the horde for the sake of honor and morality, and I hope it is the Horde who strike down the HIGHLY overrated ALWAYS crazy an evil Sylvanas before we do. I think it will make BIFA a better story if the horde itself takes her down.
if the horde betrays an entire factions of theirs ... how would there ever be reconciliation betwen the forsaken and the horde? youd need to disintegrate the horde as it shatters to pieces. that civil war would be the hordes undoing. not to mention as a forsaken lover.. i could not continue playing the game after such an event, :)
I think in the novel, Sylvanas' burning of the tree is explained by the fact that she wanted to destroy the Night Elves' hope, from a purely tactical advantage. She wasn't going to burn Teldrassil originally because she wanted to kill Malfurion, but since Saurfang refused to do so, she decided that burning the tree was the only option. That doesn't mean I'm happy with her decision though lmao.

Half the Horde is like Sylvanas. Eager to watch their enemies burn. Other half of the Horde is like Saurfang. Where there is no honor in the death of innocents. Myself I see that Saurfang seeks a glorious death and is denied time and time again. The gods are cruel to him. He deserves better.
I feel like killing off Sylvanas and making Saurfang the new warchief would be a bit just too "on the nose" predictable at this point. I hope there are some twists yet to come.
her burning the tree wasn't petty, that was like a "lightbulb" moment for her, it was a devastating blow and she knew it. I think she'll be another illidan 2.0, and be crucial against the old gods or void lords. I wonder who would lead the player faction of undead if she got moved to a more "world shaman" type role.
Thank you, I hear it now. Also, thanks to your comment I noticed how Zappyboi picked up his shoulder pieces which I had missed before. It now makes better sense why they do have their armor pieces in the main cinematic.

I feel like the reasons for Sylvanas' behavior are made pretty clear in the Before the Storm book. She's completely losing control. She had to threaten Baine over his communications with Anduin. Her absence from the Undercity has allowed the Desolate Council to gain power which results in her actions at the Gathering. Then, in game, Malfurion had her defeated on Darkshore if it wasn't for Saurfang's interference. Sylvanas was week and losing control of her people, and the goading of the nigh elf led her to burn the tree in a show of her "strength".
I love that you claim to be a fan of Sylvanas Windrunner, But fail to see that she was always capable of this. for example trying to enslave the Valkyrie , killing herself after lich king and fearing death. in WOD she was making new undead , her broken relationship with her sister in warcrimes. It goes on and on. Her war path is to save everyone in her eyes from life. She wants everyone everlasting so death is her answer. You also talk over a lot of key points in conversation in both cinematic. I mean you do not have to give everyone a play by play. and sacrifice the story delivery for the video.
Okay as a Death Night I disagree with you. Because the Lich King has us raise the 4 horse men to fight the Legion. I do agree that his actions in legion are very questionable like having us try to raise a dead pally to serve the Lich King. But i do not think Sylvanas is being controlled by the LK in any way.

The people of the Horde have endured being exiles, refugees, and slaves. Though that is no excuse for Sylvannas's actions, the Horde must stay together through the way we honor each other for the hardships each race has faced in thier respective pasts, so that we may face the hardships of the future together. For the Horde!!!

Kyle romus well the movie was setting things up. If people would have just watched the movie and not criticize it then they would have made more. Why do you thing starwars started with ep 4? Because everyone wants to see action. But with WoW you can't do that. Theirs too much history and characters to just skip the beginning of the story.
You can be mad at how the story is going so far, but I think that’s what they wanted. To stir up emotions. When the story climaxes I think it will be satisfying for both sides.

People complaining that the Horde is getting shit on story-wise this expansion. I disagree. I think this is going to be a story about how the Horde returns to it's true self. To the family Thrall and Cairne and Vol'jin brought together in the unforgiving wastes of Kalimdor. FOR SAURFANG! FOR ZAPPYBOI! FOR THE HORDE!

During the intro for the forsaken in classic wow the speaker says this: "Convinced that the primitive races of the horde can help them achieve victory over their enemies, the forsaken have entered an alliance of convenience. Harboring no true loyalty for their new allies. They will go to any lengths to ensure their dark plans come to fruition." I mean, that pretty much sums it up, doesn't it? Sylvanas doesn't care about the horde. She has her own agenda.
Exactly, Sylvanas wants there to be more Undead in the world, more people rejected by pleasant society and loyal to her. If you're already dead, you probably see killing in a different light.

Ray A hold up mate... sylvanas had nothing to do with wrathgate. Putress betrayed her, working with the dread lord, and *they* used the blight at wrathgate. There’s a scenario after the events that explains it all very well. Once it’s over, thrall gives undercity back to sylvanas, but also leaves the korkron vanguard to keep an eye on her.

wasn't suicide, he wished to restore his honor through mak'ghora. is why he took off his armor and walked towards the alliance with nothing but his weapon in his hand. Saurfang always wished to die an honorable death through Mak'Ghora, and now he found it fit to do so since the hordes honor is lost in what sylvanas did.

The Berserk Spoogz sadly, i don’t think he intended the alliance to agree to his terms after what he did to malfurion. And i think saurfang wanted to fight the alliance since his dishonorable actions took part in them standing outside lordearon.
When Saurfang did the fist chest thing to Zappy Boy like he did to his son made me tear up. Zappy lost a father, Saurfang lost a son. Now they have each other.

Zekhan (Zappyboi) has quickly become my new favorite character, this video solidified it, i hope he survives and we see more of him, and that little quip by Saurfang at the end when he says "without armor" was to cute, as if to remind the boy to quickly grab his shoulders on his way back lol, SAURFANG FOR WARCHIEF!!! I am SOOOO stoked that Zappy-Boi got a face and a voice actor. The only way Blizzard could make it better is if they gave him a name that played off his moniker.
The short story 'A good war' kinda explains Syl's action. Saurfang and Syl had planned to capture Darnasus and destroy the elves' hope by killing a certain individual but that plan failed and so Syl did this thinking that this would utterly crush the elves but the opposite happened.
Also if you read 'Elegy' it explains that Syl's previous plan was basically dependent on how Genn reacts and we find out that Genn would have reacted honourably and so that plan was bound to fail to.
So basically the burning of Teldrassil was not just evil but also a bad decision by a leader.

well this is war , people always die. even if sylvanas changed her mind and burned down the f*cking tree instead of invading , it's still a good course of action to take control all over kalimdor and to ensure the horde safety (like the bombing of theramore) and to cut down your enemies supply line of azurite .plus with graymane next to anduin their is no guarantee alliance won't attack horde either . whatever people like it or not it was the best action to burn that tree and kill those furries . may the dark lady watch over us

Sylvanas knew that Saurfang didn't follow through with the murder of Malfurion when she was talking to Summermoon, according to the novellas. So was going to still occupy the tree and keep it hostage to prevent the war as she approached the beach. However, after Summermoon told her that capturing the World Tree will not break their spirits, Sylvanas reacted to that, and went to plan B. Her WHOLE plan was to kill the Alliance Spirit, and since she was told that Plan A wasn't going to work (capturing the tree) she went to plan B ("BURN IT!")
yea her whole plan from AtoZ backfired if anything it made most horde lose hope in their Warchief. Motivated and strengthened the Alliances resolve and just made them more dangerous because if the Alliance was hesitant about ising azerite for its destructive power you can bet they will use it against us now
@Joe Alexander if you would know, what the Deathknights did in Legion in the Name of the Lichking. We revived like 8 "Holy" Characters and we killed like another 8 "holy" characters. Also we Purged the Red dragonswarm at legion and so on. Bolvar is definitly on Sylvanas side.

That's impossible. Undeath makes you pratically immune to the whispers and corruption from the Void and Old Gods. As crazy as it might sound, the Void is a force of life and creation too, just like the Light, they're both one side of a coin. But death is just that, death. In the three sisters comics when Alleria sees Sylvanas, the whispers of the Void actually go crazy and tell her to kill her sister right there right now, because she serves the true enemy, which would be the force of death.
She didn't ruin her character, her being made the Warchief ruined her character.

I love the fact that they showed Saurfang immediately protesting after the tree burned, since one of the criticisms of the warbringers was that no one bothered to challenge Sylvannas for doing it. This proves otherwise and what better character to do it.
Blizzard is really making me be on an emotional rollercoaster. I feel anger, pride, guilt, I'm sad, I'm... just... stop it :o
TheLordOfMystic don't lose hope in your side. I may be alliance, but don't let one person make you lose your pride in your clan and your lineage. Just because what Sylvanas did doesn't mean you are no longer a proud member of the Horde it means that you have a Warchief that doesn't care about you. She sees the Horde an an army she can use to get what she wants. Don't forget what Vol'jin and Thrall taught you. That you are a warrior for Honor not war.

The original quests before cataclysm for the undead starting area literally have you making a plague on her orders to use against other members of The Horde and the alliance you even test it on some members of The Horde.
So you tell yourself whatever you want. she was never a "good" character. She's evil and that's part of what makes her interesting. You just keep being salty and feeling however you want to feel though.

I'm part of that half of the Horde you described. I play both factions as well but main Horde and oh boy do I feel bad to be Horde right now. I'm also losing *both* my favourite cities/zones, Lordaeron and Teldrassil. I'm like, so mad at Sylvanas but like Nixxiom said this isn't out of nowhere. She's always been self-serving and ruthless but still this is the worst she's done (obviously). I was rooting for her through everything but the tree was too much.
It's basically the same as my feelings toward Fen'Harel/Solas in DA...want to stand by the character so badly because they're an awesome character and I love them but *I can't stand by genocide damn it*

The explination for the burning of Teldrassil is that she wants to break the hope of the Alliance, Sauerfang did not killed Malfurion so she needs an other way to break the hope.
The Cinversation von the Nightelf was that she says "U cannot kill hope" she reacts to that like she ever did, with her cold heart
Flattening a *town* within spitting distance of you is a far cry from burning a capital city to the ground with it's entire civilian population. Not to mention the innocent fauna and flora of the tree. Even when she invaded Gilneas, she did not kill every man, woman, and child by burning the entire country to ash.
But what really makes it so bad is that its just a whim to her. She wasn't planning on burning anything. She committed genocide in the name of the horde just to spite an already dying elf.

I feel like they bloodied every Horde player's hands and we didn't get anything to say about it with Sylvanas burning down a tree with a thousand innocents in it. I did not sign up for this, nor is this what the Horde is about.

You assume that no one wanted to burn the tree, but I for one fact loved that they burned the night elf city. You all whine and forget that WOW was losing the so called WAR in its name it was getting so sappy without any real resolutions. With this war Blizzard can finally tie up all the lose ends and go towards the TRUE peace resolution where the alliance and horde after massive number of loses and death can finally come to terms.

Sylvanas & Jaina are my favourite reasons for being bi-factional, not sure where they are going with Sylvanas yet, but after this week I was close to being Anti-Horde, Saurfang the Redeemer! I feel I might be able to return with Honor to my Horde toons!
Kharlos the Gamer I don't get it.. What has Saurfang done in this cinematic that doesn't make you question what horde is still doing after this cinematic. And all this "there is no honor in this" bs by Saurfang is also weak. He just used heroic throw behind Malfurion's back while Malfurion was fighting Sylvanas. He has a weird definition of honor.
BTW it's time to nerf the heroic throw.
Fair point Aboleo80, the axe to the back is still far from honorable. I personally felt that it at least went someway to showing that Saurfang is now wracked with guilt and doubt for following Sylvanas and her plans for the way she wants the war to go. It will be interesting to see where the storyline is going, I will have to keep playing both factions to see both sides of the story.
I do hope that Saurfang makes it through this expansion alive. From almost committing suicide before the Battle for Lordaeron, to getting hope, to collapsing and losing his will in the Stockades; he's definitely dealing with some demons at the moment.

If you haven't checked it yet, WoWhead has some of the Collector's Edition novellas posted and they go into some of her motivation into burning the tree. The gist is that she knew Malfurion lived and still wanted to find a way to "break" the fighting spirit of the Night Elves. Her conversation with Summermoon led her to realize that burning the tree might be the best way to do that, despite the retaliation it might bring. She also talks with Saurfang before the War of Thorns about why she thinks the time to attack is now. It's worth a look.
Saurfang was about to commit suicide because he lost his honor by letting Sylvanas commit such heinous, dishonorable actions.
The shaman troll represents everyone in the Horde that is not Sylvanas and her followers. There are many who are innocents, who don't have anything else but the Horde. Saurfang went back to defend that part of the Horde which is at risk because of Sylvanas' actions.
As an Ally, I respect Saurfang and I hope that, if it is necessary, we can give him the honorable death for which he yearns.
I think Saurfang will rebel against Sylvanas for the control of the Horde. It is the only way he can resolve his internal conflict.
Forsaken joining the Horde was out of convenience. She is acting on her own, for herself, like she always has. Self preservation above all.

I propose that when Vol'jin said that the Loa had told him that Sylvanas was what the Horde needed - they meant that the Horde needed a strong force from within in order to Right itself Finally after the War in Pandaria and at the Siege of Ogrimmar.
Sylvanas was never a good choice for leader. The Main character trait she has had since Warcraft 3 is that she will stubbornly fight and do anything she can to save her people. When she became Forsaken, her "people" did as well. All we have seen is her constant effort to keep the Forsaken alive in a world that doesn't understand them and in a situation where they cannot have children of their own and are slowly dying out.
When Vol'jin gave her the mantle of Warchief, he knew she would abuse it and use it for the above purpose, it's what she has always done. But, as said in this theory, you sometimes have to take the hard path in order to reach your goal.
At this point, I think Sylvanas will lose The Forsaken and the title of Warchief. She will either be killed, or she will be converted to a Lightforged Forsaken similar to Calia, or she will be exiled. The Horde will lose a Cool lore character, they will lose a Good General, but they will not lose a Good Leader.

You do realise that Zappy Boi there is the shammy that got stomped on by Anduin in the BfA cinematic, right? Anduin hit him so hard there was a crater. I dont think he survived that.

They actually do explain Sylvanas, just not in game or in the cinematic. Teldrassil was supposed to be a replacement for the wound that Malfurion's death was supposed to inflict. She had to do SOMETHING to the Alliance up there, otherwise she failed to kill Malfurion and walked away with the night elves unharmed and furious at her and the Horde.
Just in case you didn't get what happened. Zappyboi saved the horde.
Having played Horde for 14 years i have very strong opinions of what honor of the Horde means, so i have been feeling very lost after the burning of Teldrasil... Seeing this cinematic reinvigorated my belief in my Horde.

Burning down the tree was a good thing. It was planted against the wishes of the ancients. Because the elves wanted to keep their eternal life. Sylvanas wants eternal life. Something to think about.
The Horde is not JUST the Warcheif. The Horde is its people, WE are the Horde. While some will blindly follow the leader There are others that will question them.

As a 90 to 95% alliance player and fan I truly hope both Saurfang becomes leader of the horde for the sake of honor and morality, and I hope it is the Horde who strike down the HIGHLY overrated ALWAYS crazy an evil Sylvanas before we do. I think it will make BIFA a better story if the horde itself takes her down.
if the horde betrays an entire factions of theirs ... how would there ever be reconciliation betwen the forsaken and the horde? youd need to disintegrate the horde as it shatters to pieces. that civil war would be the hordes undoing. not to mention as a forsaken lover.. i could not continue playing the game after such an event, :)
I think in the novel, Sylvanas' burning of the tree is explained by the fact that she wanted to destroy the Night Elves' hope, from a purely tactical advantage. She wasn't going to burn Teldrassil originally because she wanted to kill Malfurion, but since Saurfang refused to do so, she decided that burning the tree was the only option. That doesn't mean I'm happy with her decision though lmao.

It's amazing to see how much story development we get to our faction, how much it stires the emotion of people.

Half the Horde is like Sylvanas. Eager to watch their enemies burn.
Other half of the Horde is like Saurfang. Where there is no honor in the death of innocents.
Myself I see that Saurfang seeks a glorious death and is denied time and time again.
The gods are cruel to him. He deserves better.
I feel like killing off Sylvanas and making Saurfang the new warchief would be a bit just too "on the nose" predictable at this point. I hope there are some twists yet to come.
her burning the tree wasn't petty, that was like a "lightbulb" moment for her, it was a devastating blow and she knew it. I think she'll be another illidan 2.0, and be crucial against the old gods or void lords. I wonder who would lead the player faction of undead if she got moved to a more "world shaman" type role.

Thank you, I hear it now. Also, thanks to your comment I noticed how Zappyboi picked up his shoulder pieces which I had missed before. It now makes better sense why they do have their armor pieces in the main cinematic.

I feel like the reasons for Sylvanas' behavior are made pretty clear in the Before the Storm book. She's completely losing control. She had to threaten Baine over his communications with Anduin. Her absence from the Undercity has allowed the Desolate Council to gain power which results in her actions at the Gathering. Then, in game, Malfurion had her defeated on Darkshore if it wasn't for Saurfang's interference. Sylvanas was week and losing control of her people, and the goading of the nigh elf led her to burn the tree in a show of her "strength".
I love that you claim to be a fan of Sylvanas Windrunner, But fail to see that she was always capable of this. for example trying to enslave the Valkyrie , killing herself after lich king and fearing death. in WOD she was making new undead , her broken relationship with her sister in warcrimes. It goes on and on. Her war path is to save everyone in her eyes from life. She wants everyone everlasting so death is her answer. You also talk over a lot of key points in conversation in both cinematic. I mean you do not have to give everyone a play by play. and sacrifice the story delivery for the video.
in the end.. forsaken is the destiny of all living.. come on.. its got less calories now! :)
The reason Blizzard opened this is to bring the feels and to show that the Horde is all they have, while the Alliance have kingdoms and fancy horses

Okay as a Death Night I disagree with you. Because the Lich King has us raise the 4 horse men to fight the Legion. I do agree that his actions in legion are very questionable like having us try to raise a dead pally to serve the Lich King. But i do not think Sylvanas is being controlled by the LK in any way.

Though that is no excuse for Sylvannas's actions, the Horde must stay together through the way we honor each other for the hardships each race has faced in thier respective pasts, so that we may face the hardships of the future together. For the Horde!!!

Kyle romus well the movie was setting things up. If people would have just watched the movie and not criticize it then they would have made more. Why do you thing starwars started with ep 4? Because everyone wants to see action. But with WoW you can't do that. Theirs too much history and characters to just skip the beginning of the story.
Also if you have problem with the movie story then you should really have a problem with warcraft 1 story
You can be mad at how the story is going so far, but I think that’s what they wanted. To stir up emotions. When the story climaxes I think it will be satisfying for both sides.

Jason Saez hopefully they do. The movie was basically just setting things up. The next movie we may get to see Thrall and Gromm fight some demons and set there people free.
