You forgot to mention that the unmanned gates are exit gates that require no one to operate them plus the cameras read your license plate when they open just in case you happen to knock down one of the gates 😅
I'm glad you had a great birthday. In the discussion on being in a cooler place during the summer months instead of Florida: I wish I could attach a picture of the Finger Lakes . You like to fish?... there are so many lakes to go fishing. And the temperatures are bearable to be able to breathe when you go outside. Great show again.
Happy Belated Birthday, Jerry! Mine was on the 9th. Our house here in Lake County is the same size as yours, but our property tax that I just paid was only $1,836, and that includes our weekly household trash collection. I will never complain about our property taxes again! We owned two houses for 18 years. One was a vacation home in the north Georgia mountains. After we both retired, we spent 5 months out of the year up there. As we got older, it became harder preparing our Florida home for when we left it for 5 months and the Georgia home when we left it for 7 months. Maintains two homes is expensive unless you rent them out when you are not there. We never did that. So, you are making a good choice to just visit the cooler climates whenever you want. I’m sorry I missed the show on Medicare. Hope I can see it after the fact. Thank you so much for all the old videos. I know it is time consuming. Love you, Jerry & Limda❣️
Going through the gates causes a safe break for golf carts to cross to the paths of the entry. Otherwise it would be a constant parade of cars and carts would be in danger. In terms of just shopping, I believe that north of 466 has the most shopping. Brownwood Paddock square has the most shops of the 3 squares. In the north we have all the shopping in both Southern Trace Plaza, Buffalo Ridge and everything in the Spanish Springs area of 27/441. I have quick access to Hobby Lobby and the Marshall's HomeGoods combo store.

Happy belated. I have found most of the new painted driveways slippery when wet and sometimes dry. It baffles me that residents close to the "broken hip" stage of life would purposefully turn a section of their home into a skating rink!

I wish you would have mentioned Community Watch when you talked about safety in the Villages. This is one of the major deterrents to crime in The Villages. The constant visibility of their vehicles 24 hours per day is GREAT! Also, the gates are mainly for safety of the multimodal paths. They slow and/or stop the traffic going on or coming off of the circles/major streets. Without them, we would have LOTS of BIKE/CART/WALKER accidents involving CARS!

We don’t mind driving from place to place in TV. That’s part of the fun. We drove from Dabney to Spanish Springs and back. Took about an hour each way.

Security cameras: I use EUFY brand cameras and doorbells. They don’t make you pay for an Internet/cloud based service to store video or see live video. Each device has a memory card that stores video. You can also buy a device that goes inside your home and stores all the video. It works great.
One thing Peter left out- I've heard (cannot confirm myself) that if you use Google maps on the bicycle setting, it'll work for all the multi-modal paths perfectly to get around.

It sounds like a case of do as I say rather than what I do since the Villages has several traditional metal roofs on its buildings. Regarding driveways and “Are they slippery?” … well, only when it snows ❄️ Oh wait, it NEVER snows here! 😂 I was riding my eBike around the Enclave (behind Dabney) and I was amazed how many of those brand new homes (less than a year old) ripped their cement driveways out and replaced them with pavers, or painted them. I’m guessing one out of three. It’s a nice upgrade. I want to paint my lanai floor, and maybe the garage floor. The Villages GPS app is great, has mileage and travel time to most anything in the Villages, by car OR by golf cart (or eBike) ☝🏻We ARE going to the ELO Tribute tomorrow night at the Savannah Center 🎶 We LOVE Ski Beach! ❤ … been there three times in the last two weeks. Had Gator Bites for the first time 🐊 p.s. Got it 👍🏻

Thought you missed one of the main reasons for the gates. 1. Causes the cars to stop and allow the golf carts to pass safely behind the gates when they are both down. 2 . security. Pictures are taken of each license plate as it goes through. Golf cart thefts caught in the past. Thief tracked by license plate on truck. 3. Also I think it gets picture of cars breaking gate arms.
I believe y’alls driveway has the painted swirly look? I love that look. However, when we applied for ARC approval with the swirl design, it was not approved. They said “non-geometric designs, hot, electric, neon or bright colors are not permitted.”😮. I had to go with a different design.😢

I paid my taxes early as well. My son thought it was funny because I was eager to get them paid. I like paying the least amount I can. It was my very first time paying taxes in Florida.

Thanks for your video! As usual, it was a great show. I didn't know that metal roofs have to look like shingles. It sounds like a case of do as I say rather than what I do since the Villages has several traditional metal roofs on its buildings. I was riding my eBike around the Enclave (behind Dabney) and I was amazed how many of those brand new homes (less than a year old) ripped their cement driveways out and replaced them with pavers, or painted them. I’m guessing one out of three. It’s a nice upgrade. I want to paint my lanai floor, and maybe the garage floor.
The Villages GPS app is great, has mileage and travel time to most anything in the Villages, by car OR by golf cart (or eBike)

Hey guys. Different beginning but you’ve explained a time crunch. No matter when you do your lives there will always be times some cannot attend so do what works for you. But I would think a weekday better than a weekend 🤷🏻♀️. A tax drive through. That’s different. Wonderful they give a receipt. Is there not an online payment option? And I too would pay early for the discount. Guys I’m getting clothes together for our impromptu anniversary cruise in 2 weeks. Thought you missed one of the main reasons for the gates. 1. Causes the cars to stop and allow the golf carts to pass safely behind the gates when they are both down. 2 . security. Pictures are taken of each license plate as it goes through. Golf cart thefts caught in the past. Thief tracked by license plate on truck. 3. Also I think it gets picture of cars breaking gate arms.

I believe y’alls driveway has the painted swirly look? I love that look. However, when we applied for ARC approval with the swirl design, it was not approved. They said “non-geometric designs, hot, electric, neon or bright colors are not permitted.”😮. I had to go with a different design.😢
