One more thing about the hike from Fira to Oia, once you reach Oia, if you walk through Oia, down the stairs to the Port Amoudi, there is a hidden spot to swim and do some 3 meter high “cliff jumping”. It’s actually a nice reward after the long hike to cool off with a nice swim. Then after the swim, in Port Amoudi Bay you can have some fresh fish in one of the restaurants right on the water. It’s actually a great way to spend a day on Santorini. Hike. Swim. Eat. Sunset.
Me and my boyfriend booked now a flight to Santorini and we’re super excited!!! We gonna visit in the end of August (we just have holidays from our work at that time). I hope we will enjoy as much as you do. Thanks for the video and the tips!!!

Santorini isn’t cheap. You’d probably need about 150€ per person per day if you want comfort and not to budget everything (including accommodation/ food / activities).
There’s a high probability of me going to Greece later on this year, if it all goes to plan I’ll be able to make the trip! Right now I have a trip to Portugal coming up soon and I can’t wait to go there

Thanks! We didn’t have a rental car, but got around by bus or taxi. Taxis aren’t cheap though, so for some places it might be better to have a rented vehicle (with scooter you can avoid the traffic). The public bus in Fira goes to places like Pyrgos and Oia (mostly other towns on the island). Enjoy your trip!!
Santorini is a volcanic island in the Cyclades group of the Greek islands. It is located between Ios and Anafi islands. It is famous for dramatic views, stunning sunsets from Oia town, the strange white aubergine (eggplant), the town of Thira and naturally its very own active volcano.

Thanks for watching! You can get to the cities by public bus indeed. We stayed in Fira which has a bus station, and there are many buses to for example Oia and Pyrgos from there. Alternatively, you can also take a taxi or rent a scooter!
In Santorini it’s easy to take a bus or just walk around! We stayed in Fira so there was a bus station. But you could also rent a scooter, which would be really fun!
We took the hike today (10/22) and would like to correct your assessment. (1) It is definitely not an easy hike because of the steep up hills and rolling pebble down hills. (2) From Fira to Oia is NOT mostly down hill but the opposite. There’s a steep up hill when start from Oia followed by mostly downhill. We started at 9:45am from Fira, made stops to enjoy the sceneries, arrived at Oia at 1:30pm. Hiker should wear layers and a hat. It can be chilly in shade and hot under the sun.
Maybe we didn't realize the steepness because of the beautiful views all around! ;) But thanks for correcting, we've hiked many mountain peaks so this was our personal judgement of course

From the cruise ships, I think it will be easiest to take a taxi (though the main road is busy and it can take a while to get from the ferry port to Oia because of traffic). There's also a public bus from Fira to Oia, but you'd still need to get to Fira first. Fira is also beautiful btw, definitely worth a visit if you have a few days!

Really depends on the year! It's late in the season indeed but a few years ago we swam at the end of October in Dubrovnik which is more north of Santorini. Last year was also very warm during October. It's really hit and miss these days with the changing climate

October 20 is getting late in the season. I swam on the south side of Crete in the first week of October, but Crete is further south of Santorini.
