Thank you I have been through so many RUclips videos trying to work out how to use DocProperties in my Word Document for MAC and yours was the only video that explained it in plain English.

You're very welcome, Errord, and thanks for your kind words. Being quite proficient with Access and using properties, this was a natural progression ;)

Thanks for the very clear explanation. I like the tip of using "a" at the start of custom properties to force them to the start of the list.

Thank you ! That was very useful video. I was aware that it is possible to maintain custom document properties, but did not have a use case to work with it before. Well now I have and your video brought me up to speed quickly ! :-)

thanks, John, very kind of you to say. I love the Microsoft office suite of products and how well they work together ... and by little 'o' in 'office', I mean the ones with VBA like Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook ... since now they are in a more general Microsoft 365 line, along with a bunch of other products.
I just updated the video description with links to other Word videos I've done that you might like too.

Thanks for the clear and helpful explanation on creating/editing custom document properties. This is super helpful! It's hard to find reliable MS-Word related content that's actually correct.

I want to reuse a map (typically in pdf format) in several spots in a document, any suggestions?

yes, of course, lol. To re-use the same picture/text/whatever in your document, insert it into your document in one place, and insert a cross-reference in other places.
To insert a PDF, from the Insert ribbon, in the Text group near the right, choose Object, Object...
in the Object dialog box, on the Create from File tab, browse to your file.
After you see it, select it, and bookmark it.
To create a bookmark, from the Insert ribbon, in the Links group, choose Bookmark. Create a logical name to call whatever is selected (or mark the spot if no selection).
In other places, from Insert ribbon in the Links group, choose Cross-Reference.
      Reference type = Bookmark
Insert reference to = Bookmark text
For which bookmark = your bookmark name
To change a picture, right-click on the real one and choose Change Picture. There's a similar process for objects. Good question.
