Hej Lars. I do hope that everything Is fine with you and what ever you do :). I have to admit I really miss your video's and the way you teach us all is really Great. U R a Special teacher, so I do hope that you find some new idea's to make some video's about, for I am shore there are many of us who are waiting for it ....:)
Hello Lars. I was so excited to find such a wonderful Fusion360 channel on RUclips only to be saddened that you have stepped away from it to focus on other things. I do understand that your personal life and family come first. I do want to make sure that you know you are a gifted teacher and instructor, and that your videos are immensely informative and fantastically presented. I will be watching the catalog over the next few months as I learn Fusion360 and will be sad when I reach the end. I hope you are doing well and living life to its fullest.
Thank you for years of professional and personal mentorship on this powerful software. You make it simple for the learner. Imagine a world where a 3d modeling course was required (or encouraged) at the High School level. There would be "greater happiness" for all. While you have a large body of work I am looking forward to more of your wonderful instruction.
I have no need to click on this individual videos, but I'm watching all of yours and you NAIL the whole, "tutorial" thing lars, THANK you! I learn so many tips and tricks and the overall "ethos" of Fusion 360 because of your ability to explain things top down to their root! Thank you, so much!
Lars you are a prodigy and a real legend. You are what I call a sculpt master! Thank you for helping me by providing such useful and entertaining videos. Definitely earned a like and a new subscriber!
Hello Lars! Great job with your valuable instruction. You have helped me and so many others to learn many fine aspects of this amazing software. Congratulations on your success with your channel too. You clearly understand the ins-and-outs of Fusion and explain things in a way that others understand. Thank you!
Hey, Its been awhile since I watched your channel. It turns out Ive gotten reasonably decent at fusion.. I have a firm grasp on the basics and its all because of your help. So thanks man, I really appreciate it.
Any idea where he is? Used to watch him years ago when first looking at fusion 360 for cnc machining. Am sure i signed up for a course of his years ago. Now i'm back cos i'm looking at 3d printing!
This is just what I needed Lars, thank you so much for this and for your years of videos I can keep referring back to. I want to try a little CNC machine just for myself, so how to do this without the paid version was a big help!
You are great, Lars. I have only just discovered you and I hope you're enjoying your time with Autodesk, with the software and company. I have leaned a lot from you. Thank you for making awesome content. :)
Lars, you're one of my favorite RUclips teachers. Thank you for all of you're extremely valuable content. I have one suggestion, if I may. I struggle with being able to see your screen. I think it would be very beneficial if you zoomed in on the area where your mouse is. Also, making your picture larger while cutting out the areas that are not of interest helps us see what you're teaching us and talking about. I found another great RUclipsr yesterday who does this very well. His screen name is Fusion 360 School. If you look at his videos, you'll see what I'm talking about. I don't need to stand 3 feet from my big screen TV to read the things he's selecting with his mouse. I truly love you're content and appreciate you so much. This is just my constructive criticism to help add even more value to your exceptional channel. Thank you sincerely.
Hi Lars, you have been doing amazing work, really a fan of your tutorials, seen all. Hoping to see how to wrap a carving around a cylinderical surface. For example, designing a carving on cabriole leg. Hope I explained it right. Thanks a lot for all your hard work!
I was worried too, but I just checked his website (updated July 2021) and says he’s on sabbatical until September and taking a break from his social channels etc. Hope you’re well and enjoying a well deserved break Lars! All the best. 😃
Hey Lars thanks for the video! Very useful as a woodworker that often builds furniture using panels that I cut either on the table saw or the cnc router. Either way this layout part (or cutlist) is very necessary! Having the free version, i think I'll use the align mode for small projects only and stick to the specific cutlist softwares for bigger projects. I'll lose time typing the dimensions into another soft but I'll save much more sparing myself the positionning optimization of the boards.
Thank you Lars for the video. Your videos finaly help me to start to get an understanding of Fusion 360. Also because the audio is of excellent quality. Love your Danish accent, don't Americanise to much: we all know the metric system makes more sense! So I started off watching 'a simple wooden box...' but I couldn't find the right buttons and nearly gave up! Now I only watch recent videos because Fusion has changed so much since the update. More or less since you lost some weight.;) Must be the 'ølcrise'. Anyway: mange takk & hadde bra.
Nice video! I hoped you find the time to start making them again at some point. I've been learning Fusion over the last few weeks, and your videos are the best resource I've found. The manual method you showed at the end is very similar to the way I did "cut sheets" for my sheet goods woodworking projects in SketchUp before switching to Fusion. Using Arrange is so much easier that I paid for a subscription a few days ago just so I could use it. After all, I'm switching from SketchUp for the extra power that Fusion provides, and I'm willing to pay a bit for that. (I understand that not all hobbyists can afford to, though. I'm fairly fortunate.)
Dear Lars, thank you very much for your fantastic content. Unfortunately I am very much a beginner and am unable to really follow the more complex tasks. I have watched (and played along at home) you Absolute Beginner videos, but then took a break for a couple of years and forgot everything. Now, as you know, Fusion 360 has changed quite a lot and I don’t know where to begin. I don’t know if you take requests, but it would be brilliant if you could do another beginner series where we can follow along. Thanks!
Thanks for all your super videos Lars. You have learned me a lot about Fusion 360. Anyway I tried the arrange function now from the personal version and get the message that its required to have the paid version to use this.. Have they changed this function the last days?
Lars I'm retired and new to Fusion. I've just discovered your channel and so grateful for the work you've put into these videos. I've just designed and built my own CNC and starting out(maybe a little late in life?). I'm struggling to design a guitar neck, there are loads of videos out there but none who describe the processes like you have done. Obviously using shortcuts and keyboard tricks that aren't visible on the videos. And you help out with any tips please? Best regards
Arrange tool without component rotation and bulk selection for 2D contour machining is for woodworking only 10% usable. I don't know any wood without grain :(
Great video! Much appricaited to show how to do it in personal version. Will save me frustrations and create better User experience for me towards Autodesk and F360.
I am running version 2.0.9854 on my MacBook Pro. Arrange is listed in the Design preferences just as you showed it; however, when I am in the Design workspace and I select Modify>Arrange, the Arrange item is grayed out and if I attempt to click on it, I am told that I don't have that feature because I have the free version of 360. Is this a recent change? Since January '21 - the date on your video.
Good content and only a few days late. :D I just finished modelling a bed frame and this could have modelled all my cuts for board length instead of me doing it in my head. Small project so I did fine, but in a more complicated model this definitely has its place.
@@cadcamstuff i see and understand, good to hear you are alive! I the meantime you made enough content that's still valid and It's still nice to follow your video's. Learned a lot. If you ever feel like doing some updates then you know you got a crowd. All the best.
Great video as usual! Question for sheet layout: what if you want to arrange the components on multiple smaller sheets? For instance my cnc can’t handle full sheets so they would need to be broken down. How would you do this in the paid version to automatically distribute to multiple sheets?
you can use the align tool the different is you can use it in parts and componen ts. the other just in components. for the avance user. good job lar love your work yes i know you are trying to keep it simpel and that very good keep up the great work..
Hi Lars, you are one of the very best, I'm just worried, your last video is 1 year old according to YT, I hope you are well. I've made a few thoughts and I'd like to note them here. I'm having some problems with Fusion 360 and with my left hand. It is mainly about the orbit functions. I want to/can use my right hand mostly and mostly work/control everything with my old Logitech trackball. That's where the problem with orbit navigation and Shift+Middle Mouse Button / MMB lies. Holding the MMB and moving the trackball at the same time is impossible for me. As a German pensioner, the hardware from 3dconnection is unaffordable for me. 1.) Is there any way I can create / store a shortcut somewhere in Fusion that simulates the MMB and then assigns it to a trackball button? 2.) Is it possible to define a shortcut with which I can, for example, rotate the object in just 15° steps around a defined screen axis (the display X, Y, or Z axis? 3.) Can you call up a shortcut table, sorted alphabetically by key, can see which shortcuts are occupied and which are free to reassign these free ones and can you also edit them there? 4.) Can you define the colors of the lines (marked, projected, center line, etc.) yourself, such as in SolidWorks (my eyesight isn't the best, and people with color blindness might have big problems)? 5.) Can the workspace background be defined yourself (because of recognition) or can Autodesk supply new, higher-contrast ones for Fusion 360?
@lars a couple questions... 1-why does my view not auto look at when I create a sketch even though I have it checked in the preferences? 2-why do I not have my constraints in the sketch palette like you do? Thanks for all the great videos!! Learning a lot from you!!
I have a Personal license and Arrange is only available if you have a subscription! I confirmed this with Autodesk and none of the Arrange features are enabled without a $495/yr subscription. So I suggest you show how to layout a flat-pack box and toolpath without using Arrange, please.
best place to ask question with image references? also best platform for fastest response time? also are you open to community questions or just questions that are assigned to you through the fusion support funnel?
One week too late! I spent the weekend arranging sides panels of an enclosure. I copy / pasted (components) into a new project to get a flat panelised version. I'm going to go and try the derived method now.
Lars, I really appreciate your videos. Thank you so much. Would you please consider showing us how to draw up a click pen. The Engineerguy on RUclips shows us how it works but it seems really complicated to create. Thanks again. 😊
The last example with the free edition you used a rectangle that you did not extrude. Taking this setup to g code I’m curious about setting up the Noman to get proper reference off the top of the sheet for z zero. You placed the Noman on the flat sheet bottom and the parts were offset for space. New to this so confusing still a bit. I understand the sheet will be on the cnc and zero in the corner and I will zero the z to the surface. Curios as to the difference of extruding the rectangle to the sheet thickness and referencing the noman off that top corner. Now the difference of in the setup of the g code as to the levels with these two differences.
Random question... but have you ever design an outsole from a shoe last in Fusion? I haven’t been able to find a great tutorial :( and I appreciate your teaching style. No worries if not, but thank you for sharing your knowledge!
HEY on your video the shelf that you use for example when you use the "arrange "command it lay and fit exactly one sheet but when my part bigger then on shit it make me error note ...I would like to know why the program not make argement and crate a new sheet ?
How's it going.. Watched quite a few of your videos now and was wondering if you could do a video on constructing a model car body by using a sketch of all four sides of the car via the insert function, spline, etc.. Maybe do an image search for a Mazda 787B or the Sauber Mercedes C9 all sides sketch to insert into the drawing? I'd like to try and make a few designs and print them on my Voxelab for my Mini-Zs. Thanks a ton and keep up the great work!!!
Hello Lars, good to see you active. You look as if you have lost some weight, I hope it is a result of your diet and your own personal goal. I have question about the latest 3 Fusion 360 updates cause I've lost the ability to export STEP file. What is the plan with that? Is this not available for the Startup Licence any longer or is there a new way to export? Have a good weekend Sir!
Excelent video! Thanks Lars! Just a question: as soon as you layed out your nested arranegemnts for the sheet Metal parts, is there an easy way to tell, that from this very parts I need for example 20 pcs and get them auto arranged to the previously sketched sheetmetal plate?
Thanks for showing both ... Free and paid. Is it possible for us to ask for the data sets? Regardless, happy to see a new video. Missed them on the Christmas break ... It's too bad the personal version doesn't have some arrange functionality like the paid. That's a big gap. Oh, I think one of your peers Patrick Rainsburry has an old arrange plugin ... On youtube
hey thanks for all your videos they have helped me learn fusion 360. In my first project i designed half of a paintball maker body and had a tread on one end in side then i mirrored it and the thread just made rings not threads do you have any advise to help?
Hi Lars, great video!!! I have learned a lot! Do you know if is possible to lay flat, setup your cnc tooling paths etc and COPY 5,6,7 whatever many times you want to cut the same assembly then re-arrange those copies with the tool path? …. I already know how to do pattern and multiply my cut paths… but some of my models does not fit very well if I arrange first (one copy) and pattern my cnc program… do you know what I mean? I would like to re-arrange copies with the tooling
Is there some keystroke combination that determines if the Line tool in a sketch will continue adding line segments immediately after clicking to finish the first segment? I'm aware that a double-click on a line endpoint will "finish" that line. Sometimes, when I use Line, a single click finishes the line, other times it automatically starts drawing another line segment.
I just found your channel and you seem to have stopped making videos. I hope all is well with you. Please let your subscribers know what is happening with you.
I'm a beginner to 360 and really enjoy your videos, thank you! how would you use the arrange feature for a project that would require multiple sheets of plywood? I'm also wondering if you could do a quick video on setting up the cam for something like that? Thanks!
For multiple sheets you can create a large rectangle and divide it into sheets using "holes", like on 16:50. If I'm not wrong, this feature will not work with multiple areas but it works with one area with multiple holes.
Hey Lars Christensen, I am new to Fusion 360 and I have learn a lot from your RUclips channel. There is a problem though that I have not been able to solve, and I don't know if you covered it already. When I use the Orbit tool, I can view the model fine. But when I use the View Cube, my frame rate drops. Has this ever happened to you? Anyways, stay awesome, can't wait for more content!
Hi Lars I have a question whether in parametric modeling you can use conditions, e.g. to define the number of holes depending on the dimension of the element? Best Marcin
Liked the presentation. I am just beginning to use Fusion for my AVID CNC Router, wood. I have made a cabinet that does not fit on one sheet of 48x48 ply which is the bed size of my cnc as of now. Later 48-96 but not now. So I would love to see how to do this to multiple sheets of the same thickness. I did catch the Nesting to multiple thicknesses and I do have the paid version as of now. Will have to try it to see if i have the 4848 sheet in the Material Library if Nesting will automatically create multiple sheets with the layouts like it did for different thickness. The Cabinet does have 3 diff thickness, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4. A problem I have is when i try to do the tooling, the Material Block ends up being the height of the sheets up to including the original model that was sitting above so it thinks it cutting a 3 foot thick model. Thanks. Again a great presentation along with all the rest. Cant wait to get this working and being second nature. I currently use Vectric Aspire to do my designing but it is not as good for this type of designing.
One question: is it possible to decide what is the maximum/min step angle of rotation of the arrange process? do the objects rotate just 90-180 deg or can rotate at finer degrees?
I was wondering the same and came to ask the same question. Look below. He commented that he received a new job at Autodesk and it has take away his time to create new RUclips content.
@@cadcamstuff SO, No more videos with this new projects? Are you permanently done with the Tutorial videos?, Kind of like the way you explain this stuff.
I heard that 360 now has a circuit board builder? How would one go about doing this function? And to be more specific, breadboards for computers or electrical components
I'm making a model of an HP42, a 1930's airliner, and would like to know how I create the corrugated skin that covers the fuselage, please can you point me in the right direction

Curios as to the difference of extruding the rectangle to the sheet thickness and referencing the noman off that top corner. Now the difference of in the setup of the g code as to the levels with these two differences.
Many Thanks, Lars ! Good luck !...
Arranging and nesting is awesome, but every sheet I send for cutting needs to have part numbers scribed in for each part.
I am interested in getting part numbers on each part too. Any ideas?
On youtube
"Lars" - I like that name. He was great in Tekken and now fusion360. 🙏
Manual nesting is always better efficiency wise. Yes there is more work and patience needed but at the same time you save on material costs.
Thanks a lot for your great job !!!

hey thanks for all your videos they have helped me learn fusion 360. In my first project i designed half of a paintball maker body and had a tread on one end in side then i mirrored it and the thread just made rings not threads do you have any advise to help?
@lars, are you still planning on making the video of how you made the cabinet ? (in fusion, not the physical ikea one ofcourse :P)
Hi Great videos very helpful. What is the equipment on the small shelf above your right shoulder.
16:37 I see the flipping option but can we rotate a component, say if we are lining everything up with a grain direction?
Of course you can. Just use the Move command and rotate your piece as you need.
Thanks again for a great video. Next time can you then take to manufacturing and finish up with the cnc part. Thanks again.
Hi Great videos very helpful. What is the equipment on the small shelf above your right shoulder.
Where is Lars?
Great vidio hope to see more
Hey Lars Christensen, I am new to Fusion 360 and I have learn a lot from your RUclips channel. There is a problem though that I have not been able to solve, and I don't know if you covered it already. When I use the Orbit tool, I can view the model fine. But when I use the View Cube, my frame rate drops. Has this ever happened to you? Anyways, stay awesome, can't wait for more content!
Great videos Keep it up 👍
Hi Lars
I have a question whether in parametric modeling you can use conditions, e.g. to define the number of holes depending on the dimension of the element?
Best
Marcin
Question: can the arrange/nesting function be used to line up pieces in you drawings? Instead of using animation and explode that is?
Sent you the file. I know your busy and not wanting you to fix my problem but thought you might want to see it.
One question: is it possible to decide what is the maximum/min step angle of rotation of the arrange process? do the objects rotate just 90-180 deg or can rotate at finer degrees?
Where is Lars?
I was wondering the same and came to ask the same question. Look below. He commented that he received a new job at Autodesk and it has take away his time to create new RUclips content.
Thank you for reaching out. Yes, still alive :-) Just busy with other interesting projects within Autodesk.
Vi savner deg 🙂
@@cadcamstuff SO, No more videos with this new projects? Are you permanently done with the Tutorial videos?, Kind of like the way you explain this stuff.
Kool stuff. Do you have a video on how to resume sketching on a downloaded canvas after you have reopened it from a overnite save?
Nice guy!
