There is nothing worse than a person attempting to argue a point, especially about the bible or religion, and they have not even read the very thing they are arguing for and know basically nothing about what they are trying to talk about. I suppose some people are so self absorbed that they just have to hear their own voice or they are not happy.

This is one of the most simplistic arguments Matt could ever make, regarding the book of fables, and he absolutely...Nailed It, again. We must all do what we can to rescue the minds of the deceived.

"We wouldn't be having this discussion if it weren't for fornication" -- somebody who doesn't understand pregnancy can be the result of rape, or that sometimes married couples aren't ready/don't want to have children

I for the life of me can not grasp how any one can even begin to think that the Earth is 6 to 10 thousand years old. I have rocks in my back yard that are older than 6 thousand years old. It's bad enough when a person actually buys the garbage that religion is trying to tell them, but when they make these sort of outlandish statements about the age of the Earth then it's only a slight degree above complete insanity.

      Rocks? Pfft.
There are trees older than that.

Not older than that, but really close. I think the oldest one is about 5500 years old. Anyway, fossils. How can anyone come to think that 6000 years could be enough to bury something 100 meters down in the earth?

Actually, quite a few things older than that.
As to the other, the answer is simple: ignorance.
When you don't understand science or critical thinking, anything you don't understand seems as sensible as anything else you don't understand.

The problem is that religious people cannot see the flaws in their belief system. So when a clear problem is shown they just go into denial mode. It happens in other areas too, like politics, but religion is probably worse. With rational belief systems like science or skepticism we understand the weaknesses and that makes them less of a problem.

Really not sure why Christians are against abortion when there is an example of abortion in the bible.
"The priest is to take from her hands the grain offering for jealousy, wave it before the LORD and bring it to the altar. and the priest shall take a handful of the grain offering as its memorial offering and offer it up in smoke on the altar, and afterward he shall make the woman drink the water. When he has made her drink the water, then it shall come about, if she has defiled herself and has been unfaithful to her husband, that the water which brings a curse will go into her and cause bitterness, and her abdomen will swell and her thigh will waste away, and the woman will become a curse among her people. But if the woman has not defiled herself and is clean, she will then be free and conceive children." (Numbers 5:25-28)

Ashley Culbertson that's not about abortion. That's the test to see if a women suspected of adultery is guilty or innocent. If she is innocent and drinks the dirty water she will suffer no ill effects. If she is guilty of adultery and drinks the dirty water, her thigh (I'm 99.999% sure that's a euphemism for her genitals) will waste away (she'll become barren or something like that).

So, a fetus being killed due to the woman wasn't faithful isn't an abortion? Cause that's exactly what it said would happen if she did cheat, became pregnant and drank the water...

What happens if you rape a woman that is already married ?
    Polygamy ?

Karl Napp then the rapist is put to death. There's something about if a woman is raped in the country and calls for help unsuccessfully versus if she is raped in a city and does not call out for help, but I don't remember if that applies to married or unmarried women.
