Just rode in my friends Taycan this past weekend. Incredible quality, ride, engineering, ergonomically correct. The acceleration is amazing with no shift points of course. A+++
and they are probably making upwards of 100,000 a year just to inspect the bodies for any imperfections, plus it's germany so if they get sick or miss work they don't have to worry about being fired because in Germany it's law that employers provide up to 90 days for sick leave, plus up to 1 month paid time off.

This coupled with the basic economic realities that resources are scarce and human desires are infinite means that there will be jobs available until robots can do exactly everything better than humans, including innovation. And when that happens (probably not for centuries, if ever), consumer products will by definition be more or less free since robots can build other robots which will make production technology spread sort of like open source software. People have been fear mongering about technology making humans obsolete for as long as technology has been used. "Oh, but this time it's different!" Very unlikely.

I wonder why you see the dent and didn't see the tape ;). -> Its a pre production car. This part of the video is clearly from another shot. Obviously this body is in use for test painting ( because of the tape on the fender ). The use of a body is well known in all processes. So the surface and fitment on a "Prozess-Karosse" ( so its called ;) ) does not matter that much -> economically reasons, so dents are allowed. After painting and checking that body, it will be scrapped. Greatings from Leipzig.
I wonder if any weight could be saved swapping to carbon fiber from the steel and aluminum chassis. Or if there's not enough increase in performance/range etc to justify the extra cost. Though I do wonder if in the long run Carbon Fiber cars will be more economical than metal body ones.
Nice factory. Compare that to a GM factory where there is always a threat of strike just around the corner. The Porsche workers helped finance 25% of the Taycan factory. Now that's pride.
First off this current strike is the only one in over 2 decades. 2nd German union workers get paid more and work fewer hrs. 3rd the newer American car plants are becoming just as quiet and clean as this one. Granted Porsche will always be the best
