Hi Abel. Love ur podcasts. I’m 67 now and not so active. I enjoy the escapism ur camping trims send out. Keep it up mate. Gordon from Scotland 🏴🏴
I love it in my conservatory when it rains. - the noise of the raindrops on the roof is wonderful. I feel all safe and warm, and dry, indoors! Mother nature’s concert!
Another great camp Abel. Love those hiker huts. Maybe you need to invest in some ear protection plugs for those nights in storms so you can sleep. After all, you don't have any bears, mountain lions or any other nasties that are going to creep up on you and turn you into a meal. My God man, 480 grams is about a pound of lamb. And you managed 2 of them. Not surprised you had to have a little lay down to let that lot settle. That's about equivalent to a Christmas Dinner, and we all need a nap after eating that much. Of course we are wondering about Victoria and how the pregnancy is going. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I wish her well and I miss seeing her on the camps. And thanks mate for letting us know that you are not damaging the trees by cutting living trunks, clearing the dead wood in any forest is a good thing, so you are doing a good forest management service. I hope you received my Super Thanks Abel. I like to think I'm supporting the channel and particularly you on your camps. Looking forward to the next adventure. Stay safe my friend.
Hey I think some ear plugs are needed although I’m a bit paranoid about losing my hearing entirely. The burgers were to much. More food then the 6 pack hot dogs might need to tone it down next few camps lol but it’s good. Victoria is good she miss camping though. Thanks for the support it definitely helps me out. Cheers
If it was 400 grams, that's 14 ounces with 16 ounces being a US pound of meat. 480 grams is 17 ounces so, 1 pound (lb.) + 1 ounce. One pound actually equals 453.592 grams.
@@sing2me Do we really need to haggle over 1 ounce of meat. Australia and New Zealand both weigh using metric weights. I remember that 1 Kilogram weighs 2000 grams or 2 pounds and 2 ounces in the old money. I'm certainly not going to be so precise as to convert our weights to 3 decimal points. I'm sure Abel understood what I was saying. But thanks for the lesson.
Greetings from Utah in the Desert Southwest of America. Love you guys! I love watching you guys. I can picture myself along with one of your camps. Tell Victoria hello! Looking forward to seeing that sweet baby in a few months. (I’m a grandmother). This cabin camp is awesome.
Kiwi here ....my Grandparents Immigrated to NZ ......from Shetland ....no trees in Shetland for a fire , ...but you do have Peat❤great videos aren't they
Hey Abel!! Love that cabin!! It such a perfect set up. Can’t believe that rain. It was just pounding away. That river was moving. You still did your wood gathering. You are the master in gathering and cutting wood. Nice to leave some wood for next guests. The lamb burgers looked awesome. You made them perfect. The knife looked incredible. Nice replacement!! Thanks for great video. Nice to see that blue sky and sun!! Well done! Greetings to Victoria!!
Another great rainy video. These are the best. Lovely food and a nice cosy set up. New Zealand lamb is lovely. Whenever I buy lamb chops I always go for the New Zealand ones. So much more flavour.
What I liked from this is that you had to work hard to gather and split the firewood, endure the freezing rain and cold but it all turned out to be worthwhile when sitting next to an open fire. It must have been a nice and cozy feeling.
I absolutely love your videos! That cabin is so cozy. Great looking burgers, the rain pouring down, nice warm fire 🔥 One thing I would love to see you have on your adventures would be a big dog. The perfect camping companion! Sending you positive vibes from Ohio 💙🤍❤️
@AbelandVictoria you can take a dog into a bunch of national parks, but they need to be kiwi trained, and you might have to have a hunting permit. Reminds me, my dog needs another refresher, lol.
Just curious, why would you stand out in the ain to cut up that firewood when all you had to do was step inside the entrance to the cabin out of the rain and cut it up in there?
Your resilience and adventurous spirit during rainstorm camping in a remote cabin, enduring heavy rain and torrential downpour, showcase your love for nature and outdoor challenges. Your ability to find peace and beauty in adverse conditions is truly inspiring. And I am Floating Village Life, celebrating your wilderness experiences
Cool cabin... for you, this looks like your style of Glamping, in a structure with a fireplace, bunk beds, tables, candles, and benches. Too bad Victoria isn't there with you. Wish I could experience something like this too. Thanks for sharing. Hugs to Victoria and you on the news of your baby to be. 💕
Once again a great adventure! Seems like you always run into these little Wekas. The wife and I raise chickens and ducks. Seeing these little guys in your videos I had to do some research on them. Very interesting little bird! Always look forward to your videos. Thanks for taking us along.
@@AbelandVictoria I was reading about them, they look very prehistoric. Is says they are Omnivorous, they do look a bit scary though with the red eyes.
They're very cute, intelligent and quite fearless, but you have to be careful as they will pinch any food or anything shiny they can get their beaks on. They'll grab it, scamper off into the bush - and you've pretty much lost it. OK on a short trip like this, but losing something important on a longer trip is a real problem.
Now, that rain sounds like a typical Louisiana rain! Love it! The cabin reminds me of a little red schoolhouse. What a great place to shelter in the heavy rain.❤😁 Rain puts me to sleep. I love to go out onto our carport and watch it rain, except when that squall came up our street. People called it a mini tornado, but who knows what it was. It was destructive in our little area, trees and limbs down all around us. Then, three days later we had another severe storm that finished knocking down trees it didn't get the first night!
Hey there brother, great to have you back, i am always excited to have the opportunity to watch your outings. As they are always exciting and relaxing. 😊❤
Great camp, I love watching your videos I have currently watched all 100 videos from the oldest to this latest one I love every single one, keep on camping man
Long Live The Wood 🪵 King 👑🤴Good on you Abel another epic Video ,thanks for sharing your adventures always entertaining (love your friends the Wikka) LOL 😜
Wow! This is a very well done nice interesting vlog. You speak very well 🎉 and the editing is high quality. Kudos to you both. Well done. It could have been boring but it was fun and exciting. Loved it while sitting in my cosy warm armchair in front of fire.
Great spot mate, love the rain, gotta love a hut during that though! If I could drive my 80s to it! id be into it haha, my knees are to worn out to hump up to where ever that is, so I live vicariously through you guys, gott a get me one of those Zimbivy's though🤘
This brings back a few memories. It's always a pleasure to see other people enjoying DOC huts. 😊 FYI, 2.2 lbs to the kg, or 1 lb is 450 gr. Two patties equalling 400 gr is enormous!
I love the rain and foul weather videos because they convey a sense of survival and thriving no matter the situation. That being said, does it rain all the time there in New Zealand or is it just certain parts?
It rains a lot on the west coast of the South Island. Where I live it doesn’t actually rain that often but up in the hills frequently there is heavy rain
Thank-you so much for taking us along. Absolutely love that cabin and glad you went back. Love the rain. You shouldn’t have went to the river in the dark. I don’t think you would eat a wicker. Lol Was there lights in brown shack behind you? How’s Victoria?
Vous êtes très sympa . La cabane est belle, le feu qui crépite, le dîner. Au fait j'avais deja dîné, maiscen vous voyant manger les hamburgers, j'ai eu L'eau à la bouche 😋 . 800 grams of lamb, that’s like 1 3/4 pounds of meat, before you added the bacon! Looks like a wonderful way to pass an evening. The mountains look very similar to the area of Northern California, USA that I come from. Cheers!

Glad you enjoyed it
Yes, I also eat more veggie and less when home, but out camping is the perfect time to indulge in a super burger
Absolutely LOVING all of this rain! For real pluviophile, here. It can rain every day as far as I’m concerned! 😃🌧️💦💧☔️⚡️
We are in a drought in Ohio right now. I miss rain!! Listening is one of my favorite things!🩷
You should make more videos in this cabin , its awesome.

That's a very heavy downpour 🌧 nothing heals you better than nature 😊
campfire is really an essential in your videos without it it's like a missing part of a show 😊
That rain storm that you are having reminds me of the storms that we have here in the state of Kansas

As always, beautiful camp. Love the area. See you had a bird. Wouldn’t seem right if one didn’t show up. Take care.
Thanks. It’s particularly nice this spot the walk in is one of my favourite. Weka everywhere wonder if I’ll see them in the deep snow soon.

Weka. A NZ native bird. Enjoy the videos so much and wish I was young and able to have adventures like you.
Love this cute little cabin! ❤Your rain gear kept you pretty dry through the pouring rain. Great job on the fire!
