This was fun to watch, thank you. I too started making melts and candles not too long ago. You most definitely NEED a pouring jug, a FLAT surface and a warm environment for when they are cooling, as odd as that sounds, they need to cool down VERY slowly, to avoid frosting. As for your stones, may I suggest you axe that method and maybe try glitter? works better and looks prettier, plus the end result is much better since you add the glitter at the very end when they're almost completely dry.
For the “double boiler” you could use a Pyrex jug, I make my own version of Lush Buffy bars, and the large Pyrex jug makes the liquid mug easier for pouring...
You had me shouting out to you "Use the jug" and laughing my head off. Great entertainment. Thank you. I thought I was messy. Good on you for having a go.
I really enjoyed watching this. It made me laugh when you dropped the spoon in and then the thermometer too as that's just the sort of thing I'd do! Will you be filming when you make the candles too?
I used to make soy wax candles and just melted the wax in a Pyrex jug in the microwave. Ikea do a few different silicone ice cube trays which may work well if you wanted to try different shaped melts. I found that making them without adding dye looked nice too. :)

Snap lol. A woman near me sells them by the truckload and I noticed this was the kit she had in the background of her pics/vids. So thought I would give it a bash.
This video is a prime example of WHAT NOT TO DO on so many levels! Hot wax, balancing the large pan on top of smaller pan, pouring into mold on uneven surface..... need I go on! This vid should have come with a warning
You and Ian crack me up! Too funny! 😂😂 l have always wanted to do this and felt l didn't have the right equipment either, was interesting to see it was quite simple to do! Thanks for sharing . 💜💜 xx
Kim order some more silicone trays or use the silicone cupcases (the mini ones are fab for tartlets). I've made wax melts before and found that practice makes perfect. Great job 👌
Yes I’m enjoying watching this, it’s something I’ve wanted to try, watching you I now know how not to do it 😂 but I think ill still make a few mistakes, keep at it, I see your vision 👌
Pot looks like scratched Teflon which can be cancerous so better to throw that thing out, if you use Teflon pans please Teflon surface should be intact. For salad just use ceramic bowls.
Loved watching this video! You’re so natural and wonderful to watch! I’ve actually just tried making soaps which is surprisingly similar to making wax melts, and also made a few wax melts too. Took me 3 lockdowns but I got bored and bought a load of stuff and gave it a go. I love the crystals inside the melts idea, because it’s like a nice surprise when you melt them and they pop out while the wax melts. Will check out your shop for crystals 😊 x
someone may have made this comment already but if they didn't. For the cracks and crumbling look, next time don't fret, just put your crystals in, let it harden then use a heat gun or your blow dryer to melt just the top and it will smooth out.
Silicone muffin cases might work for your bigger melts, easier to extract from cases, and ice cube trays - flying tiger do some fruit shapes that aren’t very expensive
My kitchen is a HOT MESS when I’m making candles and melts! Wax all over the place, including on the floor! Never see that in videos! Made me think something is wrong with me! Lol
I found your video, and you are hilarious! I live in the US, and have been making and selling candles and Wax melts for awhile. I'd try a parasoy blend or tart wax and you'd have better results.
Hey Kim, hope u and yr family are well. OMG i loved the vlog, i absolutely love wax melts, and im also a big fan of the lavender scent 😀 anyway i feel inspired to try and make wax melts now tooooo. Thanks again 👍
Loved this! I love crystals and I think that is such a fab idea! Maybe try a deeper mould so they are fully hidden, it'd be like an imperial candle oooooh! :) I stumbled across your video because I've just ordered some bits and bobs to do my own! I'm just wondering, was the fragrance in these strong enough? I've ordered some 10ml bottles (wishing I had ordered bigger bottles now though!) I'm wondering how much wax I need to mix them with to get a good smell, I've seen most people doing 10% fragrance oil in there batches but am I right in thinking yours was 500g wax to 10ml of oil? Just curious how strong that mix was :) x
I make candles and have done for years and I found this brilliant. Couldn't stop laughing. Well done.
This was fun to watch, thank you.

I think they look nice with the white- like a marbled effect. The crystals in it is a cool idea 👍❤️💫
Use the microwave and a heat proof jug, I have a company making them and that works perfectly x
Love this. Wait for the melts to set, then carefully use a lighter to gently soften the top layer, then pop the crystals on top x
Love this Kim! Maybe do half a pour, let it set, pour the rest then add crystals. There won’t be as much displacement xx
Fab video! Well Done! So natural and so me :) I've just ordered a kit!
4 years later I wonder if you continued making wax melts your so funny by the way great video

Yes, the pyrex jug is a great idea and melting the wax in the jug, in the microwave, means you only have the one jug to clean up.
You had me shouting out to you "Use the jug" and laughing my head off. Great entertainment. Thank you. I thought I was messy. Good on you for having a go.
Great first attempt. The white makes them look authentic and handmade.💟

Jacqui how long do you melt the wax in the microwave for?. Also do I need to buy one of them wax temperature things
Omg you are hysterical loved your video I have just bought a kit also so going to try it soon x
Please so not sell with just warning labels... you need CLP by law 😊 i make waxmelts and sell so i will help where i can
not true

You can use a hairdryer to gently melt the top of the candle to fix the cracks xx
Enjoying watching your video. I've just ordered the same so ur video has been very helpful thank you. Cant wait to make my own :)

Thanx for that it was great . I happen to like that marbling effect.
Thanks for sharing 🙂🙂

You can fix the cracks with a hair dryer - not too hot and once they're poured, leave them alone to set and you won't get so many cracks.

Hahahahaha i loved when he said: smell my finger #couplegoals
Love the idea of crystals in the wax melts x how about some actual lavender and glitter x
Can you try to remelt the top slightly? It might make placing the crystals easier and closer to how you want them to look.
I do body shop! only started over lockdown! Watched this video as I’m wanting to sell wax melts on the side! This was super helpful! x

You could try melting the tops of the melts with a hairdryer to get rid of the cracks.......... worth a try :))

How can I find the candle kit company? X
I found this really informative - thank you! *clapping emoji*

Pot size the other way around, small pot inside big pot with boiling water. 😁
Love it! 🤣
A smaller pot goes into a larger pot. This way the water surrounds the wax container.
Ach this made me giggle great job
Where did you get your kit from?
Loved this x

Your husband is a G. Sh sh sh shake like a Polaroid picture! Lol Thanks for this video
Did you get a jug in the kit? Wonder what it was for 😂😂
