hello! it has been a while (several years, in fact) since I've actually completed a new book instead of just... revising... forever... so! I set a goal for myself: to finish writing a brand new book by the end of summer vacation. this is the stuff boring coming of age indie movies are made of.
in the first part of this vlog series, I chat a bit about picking a project, actually get around to picking said project, and figure out what the heck I'm going to do to pump this novel out in the next couple of months. I hope this little bit of insight into my process is entertaining! I am super excited to embark on this journey with y'all ❤️

I'm on track to self publish two novels within the next year or so. One is a contemporary and the other a fantasy novel. Both are difficult in their own way. But with the fantasy in particular it's hard not to get down on myself when my outline ends up being so bare bones at first. Your video has helped me to feel a little a bit better in that regard. Great video, loved the candidness!

This is so cool! I’m in high school and have always thought about becoming an author but have always put myself down because of my poor grades in english. I'm currently developing a fantasy novel for fun and I'm so happy you were in my recommended. I'm convinced the internet reads our minds. I've never written a novel before so this journey with you will be exciting. I actually wanted it to be more of a webtoon/comic but turning it into a novel seems more fun and challenging.

Hi Lynn. I totally feel the "scattered brain" type things that ADHD presents as during a day. It can be a real challenge to get what you want done, when you want to do it, because part of the brain keep rearranging the list inside the mind. (I deal with ADHD myself too)
Anyhow, keep setting one foot in front of the other with your goals, and I am sure you will achieve all that you dream.

I'm thinking of writing novel, but i don't know how to. I do poetry and stuff but writing novel feels overwhelming. I don't know if I have it in me to keep going with a novel. Writing long consistent stuff with a storyline doesn't come as naturally as writing poems to me. Do you have any tips for me? Any tutorial that teaches how to write? Thank you.
everyone starts somewhere different, especially when it comes to writing longform stuff. I'd recommend rereading books you really admire and trying to break apart the craft/what you like about them. additionally, studying basic plot structure (three act, save the cat) might help break down a longer story into more manageable pieces. i hope this helps!
