    On the low level invocation. I'd actually go with the one that pushes them back with an EB. Rather than the one that pulls them. THe pull one is 1 a roundm ax. While the push one is per beam. So stronger utiltiy as you grow. Further it lets you rescue allies who are caught out, multiple at once later.
    And lastly? Its fantastic RP, you're so forceful, exuding dread of undeath dracolich that they insticitvely retreat without them realizing it.

      I've got it on a Warlock I have with Eldritch Spear, spell sniper, and Chain pact.
      with various spells and or tools to view farther distance (the uncommon goggles are the most useful of them).
      Action Edlritch Blast, and then Familiar Bonus Action for poisons chip damage
      Hilarity of a defensive battle, so much punishement as they try to get closer

    I would almost take 1 more level of fighter for echo knight. the idea of such a build's own "shadow" comming out of the ground would be rather unsettling.

    I have an AlchemLock. They died when young but influential and powerful parents called in favors. He was brought back. But something hitched a ride with him. It wasn't much at first, but over the years the shadows started haunting him, later on hel hound inspired creatures. Sowing fear into the child, he grew up rather disjointed and raw, full of angst. No one else ever saw the creatures he swears were hunting him. his parents paid for various items and alchemy, assuming the boy was sick or cursed. Yet nothing ever came from it. Except that the child learned
    Eventually his parents call in more favors and acquire an item/potion that let them see the creatures as well. But this was a bad idea. As they can see the creatures, now too, the creatures see them.
    The home besieged his parents in mortal peril. He got over his angst and fear, and fought back.
    Which is exactly what the darkness wanted the entire time. For the vessel to be worthy, to overcome the fear and dread of death.
    He still is wary of hte power, and uses alchemy in order to help mitigate and control the undead entity inside him. But is growing better intune with it and learning to communicate iwth it.
    Thats the short messy version of it. I've actually got like a 3 page thing on haha.
    The goal is Undead Warlock 6, Alchemist X. Warlock 6 gets to transform to necrotic damag, which then works with its own damage booster and alchemist's damagebooster. and its great flavor. Using their own blood as reagent for alchemy, and occasionally turning fire to necrotic flames. etc.

    One way I would have made this build is as a 7th level brute fighter and 3rd level hexblade warlock since the hexblade also get necromantic abilities this would give the character very potent offensive melee abilities with a bit of flare. The reason I went for 7th level brute fighter is that they can add 1d6 to all saving throws including death saves and if they get above a 20 on a death save because of the extra D6 it counts as a natural 20 meaning you pop up with 1HP in combination with the bless spell, advantage, and indominable you can get up very easily after being knocked down to zero hit points.

    This build gets so much better with the Fizban Dragonborn + DragonFear. It's actually pretty easy to build a pure Undead patron fear-based controller that can also do it at range with Eldritch blast!

    If the party has a face I would replace beguiling influence with fiendish vigor since unlimited access to false life is very powerful in tier 1 gameplay.

  • @MissLeafi

    Pretty much the exact same character I build when Undead came out except that mine is a human and the patron is a Lich Queen. Also I picked some other spells, like Armor of Agathys for example. Though I didn't take Tough at all. Early on Tough gives about the same amount of HP as two points into CON except that it doesn't help with concentration saves etc. (if you want more durability). I was also considering Heavily Armored to help keep up Armor of Agathys for a bit longer but ultimately decided that the first feat I'm going to pick up would be Warcaster for more concentration reliability and the good old Boom Blade/GFB opportunity attacks to add some more battlefield control.

  • @WeedEater-e8d

    Here's another option for this idea. use the fizbans dragonborn, take dragon fear feat, & be a profane soul (undead patron) blood hunter, roaring around instilling fear, using your own powers of undeath to instill curses of beyond the grave, flinging around the occasional spell (and if you're worried about the high intelligence ruining the idea of them being of the cult, then remember that wisdom & intelligence are two different things, so increase dex a bit more & instead, dump wisdom)

  • @knightghaleon
    @knightghaleon 3 года назад +7

    As someone who has used a shadow dragon for a Hexblade patron, I was thinking of a similar build. Though it was going to be a mix of Eldritch Knight using only the buff spells so I could keep the intelligence level down for about 5 levels for the extra attack. I also dipped into conquest paladin as this dark warrior who must crush those in the path to his patron's goals.

    • @DungeoneersPack
      @DungeoneersPack  3 года назад +1

      Glad you enjoyed it! If anything I would continue to level into Warlock until 20 for this. If you seek to take more levels of fighter I'd probably go for an additional 2 taking this up to 4 levels of Fighter, which would give us a subclass option and an ability score or feat option. Battlemaster Fighter is a great option for some combat utility options. Echo Knight wouldn't be bad either for the mobility and extra free attack from the Echo.

    I am planning to use this build on my next character with some changes and reflavor. The main concept would be a melee undead warlock with some kind of Hulking Zombie or Frankenstein creature as patron and the character will be based on Venom and Undying (Dota 2), but without the UA version wich is considerably more weak. Thx for the build idea tho.

      I think Cloak of Flies will be cool and fit the theme and maybe eldritch smite for invocations. Some spells like Chill Touch, Armor of Agathys, maybe Vampiric Touch and other, its a mind of taste. Also warcaster. There is some flexibility to build it wich is cool, things like forget the second attack e focus on a big damage one since the Undead Warlock from Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft works a bit diferent. Also, maybe go for barbarian instead of fighter and dump spell slots into eldritch smite while in form of dread and fury. Lots of possibilities.

    you can't even make this build without homebrew? UA=Homebrew. There's no such thing as "official homebrew". lol thank god it's 2021 when i post this.

    • @GoblinLord
      @GoblinLord 2 года назад +1

      homebrew is more like mods in a video game, made by the fanbase and not supported, Unearthed Arcana is literally made by Wizards as playtest material, if someone working for Wizards makes something but it's not endorsed by them, then it's homebrew still
