5:20 you went Full Machiavelli 😂 Bravo 👍
WIll you make a combined Ranking for Civics with their Position included?
"There is no economic benefit in making slaves happier"
~Montu Plays
Hey, don't hate the truth!
21:42 21:42
@@MontuPlays I know about a certain country on Earth that did not care about slaves' happiness and it didn't go well because it started 4-year civil war
@@killerp2612 see the difference is they couldn't crack planets
@@MontuPlays My commonwealth of Man never enslaved any xeno species. It is more like a yes or no question , which is citizen or extinction
we're getting sooooo close to a Leader Trait Tier list. SO. TANTALIZINGLY. CLOSE.
One... more... list
@@MontuPlays where's the FULL LEADER TRAITS TIER LIST Montu? we're all waiting...
Something something... Genius Armorer.
Stellaris tier list edging session
The Imperium has enough Intel to know when the secret callout is, even skipping ahead. We will keep watching you with great interest.
You're 4 parallel universes ahead of us.
A good use for the Heroic Past position is using it for your scientist that touched the orb. An immortal Storyteller watching over the Imperial State with a permanent level 10 bonus can be quite good.
having a guy that effectively experienced the entirety of your empire's development is a good thing, who knew
@@qw3rty629 The point of that exact setup is that you deliberately leave a bunch of anomalies unfinished, especially if they happen to end up in other empire's territory. Storyteller destiny trait grants a +300 XP bonus to every other scientist in your empire. So if you also combine Heroic Past with Vaults of Knowledge and leave just 20 anomalies alone until you have the Storyteller trait on that immortal scientist every scientist in your empire will get 6000 XP which will get many of them to Legendary stage which when coupled with Vaults of Knowledge building will give you an additional permanent +1% per Legendary leader developed by your empire.
I'm gonna exercise my Imperial authority and say... becoming the Galactic Imperium instead of staying as a regular Empire/the custodian as a president of a federation kinda sucks.
My mp friends turn federations off to remove habitats anyway, so for me in mp it's an absolute win
Against AI there is a few really good uses for forming the Imperium. If your behind in score you can leverage it to absolutely catch up. It destroys all federations which drops the score of anyone in a federation. And with cleaver polices and denouncements you can basically have the whole galaxy go to war against anyone who is ahead of you in the score. Also helpful for keeping the AI on track for the crisis.
Its tragic how mid it is. Its great RP, and I love doing it, especially as a megacorp. But federations are so much better
@grandparagnar6709 but federations only gives habitats to void dweller empires.
Utopia alreadu gives habitats to everyone.
have federation and imperium at the same time.
Divine Conduit DOES NOT give you base resources from psionic pops increase. If you read it carefully, what it gives you is "Resources from psionic pops from telepaths" that means it increases the bonus that telepaths give to psionic pops. Dont be confused and think its just boosting all your psionic pops innately. You MUST build a Psi Corps building and have pops work the Telepath jobs that it provides in order to benefit from Divine Conduit.
Why wouldn't you have a Psi Corps building though? Either stick it on the planet or on the Orbital Ring. It's probably one of the single best buildings you can build for a Psionic Empire. Unity, Crime Reduction, Stability, Psionic Pop Output increase... if you don't have it you're gimped. And ya, it takes Level 3 to build it, but if you're swimming in unity you can just have a mobile set of population that you switch from planet to planet. Once a planet has been upgraded, the buildings are available even if the number of pops on the planet drops below the threshold.
I always go with Instrument of Desire, so the Psi Corp building also basically takes care of ALL my amenities needs as well. You've basically got like 3-4 different buildings all piled into a single one.
isn't that even better?
because all your pop get affected by at least two telepaths?
Small planets can’t have psi corps, so early game this distinction can hurt.
@@benoithudson7235 early game you won't have the civic nor any psy corps
You need to ascend first AND get a chosen one, be it the regular chosen one or a covenant one
By the time you can get the civic the distinction is basically non-existent
@@letsplaysvonaja1714 : when going psionic I've usually ascended and gotten my chosen one before my colonies get to size 25, except maybe my first one.
I love these ranking lists so much, thank you for doing so much work putting these together
Thanks for the tier list, I watch every tier list you upload and take them into consideration for every run I play. Great content!
Thanks for the tier list. I always come to you for all my Imperium needs for improvement.
As a gestalt player i must say this tutorial was very helpful
Thank you Montu!
I hope you are not burnt out by these tier-list videos!
They are just so good and useful. Also nice, they are nice
vestiges that your good old lore-friendly civic still has a fighting chance
with the help of a counselor position!
Oh, my goodness, this is so nice so I even might invite you to a tea party with crackers and cheese, EMPIRIAL cheese!
One small thing i have to bring up regarding Pompous Purists: Unless its been updated, it does not allow you to take Custodian or Emperor. I founr this out the hard way when i yried to do an empire based around "These Xenos dont know how to rule. Lets do it for them."
Probably because the custodian and emperor actually work with their people
Which is a bit hard when your people can't contact you
And no, it is not a small thing :) but by the time you can be custodian you should get rid of it fro some more beneficial.
@@lefty59th18 it's a small thing
You don't have to be custodian, just let someone else do it and take the back seat
It is Imperialtive that you continue with the tier lists Mr Montu :D
I’ve been waiting for this one a long time !!!
thank you for hard-working 😁😁😁
You're welcome 😊 hope you enjoyed the video!
Imperial is my favorite rulership type from a philosophical standpoint, and I'm very intrigued to see all of your rankings. Thus far you've given a lot of good information on the Council bonuses.
Ohhh Tier List on a Monday. Going to be a good week.
As someone who is just diving in to stellaris, this series of videos is super useful. Especially with you breaking down the reasoning as to each one and what bonuses are worth snagging!
Great Tier list! Gonna use it to plan my next Empire.
I don’t know a whole lot about Stellaris and I mostly do things off of the vibes and for rp value, and not a lot of my civilizations have that sort of imperial vibe. But this’ll help me in the future, thanks Montu! Love the vids!
This was really helpful Montu. Now I finally decide which of councilors to execute in my Imperium. :)
Great video, though not what I was expecting. For some reason I thought you were ranking the individual seats or positions empires can unlock.
The traits are good to know :)
Thanks for this in depth look at councilor positions, this really made me look over some of my more questionable decisions 😅. Now I know what to pick for my next empire run in stellaris.
Curious if you have a good start guides for Empires in Stellaris. I am always blown away when you mention things only taking 20-30 years
Keep the Imperial video going Montu!!
The Imperial watch thanks you montu. Nice list, always a treat.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the tips, gonna use this in my new build called: Imperial Empire of Imperium
I love everytime you do a tier list
NEW MONTU TIER LIST LETS GOOOOO
One step closer to a renowned and legendary paragons tier list!
The Master FORGER? I've never had a Master FORGER on my Imperium.
@Montu Plays would it be possible to make leader skills and paragon rundown with tiers for current game or maybe when the machine age come? Ty for ur vids 😊
Thank you for the inspiration for my Imperium.
You are doing the empire a favour. Keep up the great work imperial citizen.
best vid to have play on the back ground while I play stellaris or grind other games
Nice callout. 😉
Not totally related, but has anyone else gotten a huge bump in diplo weight from taking the Shield of the Empire trait on an admiral on a fleet of corvettes? I mean, it does make sense that you'd get some benefit, so long as the fleet is in a friendly system. But I just had my diplomatic weight double instantly from it.
Montu, you certainly are always working hard as the leader of the Stellaris Community Imperium.
So when are we getting that species portrait tier list? 🤣
Need to know which has the best swag to represent an imperial empire 😉
Good information to help with my Imperial ambitions.
I love these tier lists even when I'm not playing Stellaris
So do Imperial defence platforms still scale value wise like they did in your Defence Platform video a year ago or has game changed way too much since then Montu?
One of my favourite runs thanks to Lathland is parliamentary system and maxing out unity through pops. Maybe the protector of liberty position could be used to maximise the egalitarian faction's unity output. Its fun since it works best pilling on pop growth to massively increase the amount of jobs and the unity provided. In most games, I don't even have to build any unity buildings!
P.S Love the vids
This guide is helping me do an imperial fiefdom run where I become emperor of the galaxy.
ok and now time to make a tierlist where you rank the civics and the council positions together as they are a package deal a lot of the time
I'm having trouble avoiding revolts as a Astro-Mining Machine Intelligence Empire. The Grid Amalgamation Slavery type nukes them to 0 happiness and I don't have enough drones on newly conquered planets to get stability up. Should I just resettle pops? Or would it be better to include something like Rogue Servitor to give the bios something else to do?
My Imperial God Emperor build is ridiculously fun. I went hard into spycraft and got the stareater achievement.
I've been thinking about getting into modding in Stellaris, you have any recommendations/a video in the works?
Where is the megacorp council tier list!?!?!?!?!?!?!111111
When the Megacorp cheque clears, they can have their tier list. Not my fault they are crap at paying on time!
I would move both High Curator and Minister of Ascension up to B tier. Unlike bonuses that affect only jobs, these are Empire-wide. Meaning it also affects the passive unity from stuff like Monuments (Which should be the bulk of your unity), factions, and even trade policies if you got them. Very versatile bonus.
I skipped to S so felt obliged to provide algorithm interaction, but I do put playlists on auto play before I go to sleep.
Some thoughts:
5:19 Happiness still matters for: Crime, Government Ethics Attraction and Diplomatic Weight from Pops. And those are not modified by Political Power.
So while not a _direct_ Economic bonus, less Enforcers and more Diplo Power can mater. It scales on the same curve as Labor Intendant. So useful for a opressive Empire.
5:42 I feel like Build speed needs a longterm bonus as companion. Building and District Upkeep reduciton might actually be way more useful and thematic here.
But do note the very high value for Virtual Ascension!
The imperium thanks you for your service to the community.
I am rather curious of what you think of the worker cooperative civic council position, and the civic itself while we are on that topic.
Minister of Defense can be done without if one is playing very tall with defense platforms or using mutual defense pacts to stay safe, especially if you have a powerful allied neighbor or a solid federation going.
Protector of Liberty can be used if you conquer empires that are authoritarian to make them switch to egalitarian faster, getting unity and stability bonuses faster. Im not sure how much faster it would be though.
Man, I always run Senior Science Director in my Imperious Imperium.... I always thought it was underwhelming but didn't know where to put them in my Imperial Technocracy
imperium empire imperial. lmao i actually skipped to the b tier. i love your videos montu. sorry for skipping. normally i watch your videos all the way through but i dont have all the newest dlcs, which is why i only wanted to see the top tiers for this vid. also by the time those dlcs go on sale, the meta mightve changed drastically. i really do appreciate these videos though. its just this one that i skipped to b tier
The curator is guaranteed to be a researcher, so the only leader that can take the council post is also a good leader to have on council. The shroud teacher is focused on governing a sector, so they don't normally have interesting council traits. I'd put that position in F tier.
The senior science director I'd bump up a tier because it's useful early-game if you want to tech-rush, mostly just to have a scientist on council but also to help with the consumer goods upkeep cost.
That was a Master Imperium there. :)
I'd love to play an an-cap too montu, but I'm stuck with this IMPERIUM
Were not making it out of the Imperium with this one!
The imperium of man will prevail. I’m just waiting for a fully usable WH40k style campaign and Rzce 😅 Adeptus Mechanicus style 😊
Hi Montu. Do you have any plans for an updated ship building guide at all?
The current playlist is up to date!
So I am new to the game and I have a question, if multiple council members have the same trait do they stack or not?
I had no idea that head of research and minister of defence gave the 25% penalty to research and naval cap if not filled
I love the councillor position of the pharmacy megacorp. I think it was 2% pop growth per level.
Will you making the same with councils position for megacorps?
Defence Army Damage is actually really nice, since you also have upgraded defencive armies. Baseline they are stronger than Gene warrior armies (although empire size nerfs them a bit). You double their damage and it gets very expensive to capture the planets.
I’d love to be a member of Montu’s empire
Watching out for the Imperial secrets in this vid
The Imperium is always a nice goal for more diplomatic playthroughs. My first time was as a Rogue Servitor, so it was like the Gestalt Mind was taking even those who refused to be pampered under their wing, keeping those organics safe and free from full self-determination while leaving them "independent."
Your tierlist was empirial.
LEADER TIER LIST PLSSSSSSSS IM GONNA GOOONN!!!!!!
This is damn handy for my hive minds or machines :)
First Citadel also amps up your diplomatic weight quite a bit.
Is the stability bonus of chaiman of mines empire wide? I mean if i have 100 miners in 4 planets will i get the 5 stability per level only on my mining planets or on all planrts?
I wonder if the devs have tried to balance the power of the civics with the council position provided by them. I know my imperial fox empire specifically went with a leader focused build and thus the council positions were sometimes more important than the civics themselves.
21:45
good video but how is the master necromancer in the f tier???? It makes your necromancers, a job you want anyways to produce more unity than a politician and if you take unyielding for unity from defense armies a necromancer will reach telepath levels of unity production while also making more science than a researcher, such a powerful job and councilor
The Imperium never skips ahead
I skipped ahead to the imperium call out. Does that violate any rules of engagement?
Question: What if I just always watch tier lists top-down instead of bottom-up?
Um... I ... I guess that works... Im not sure...
Commissar!!! Help!
😂
Intel like this is perfect for my new ringworld peacock Imperium
We the imperial inquisition are always watching, sometimes from the shadows sometimes not
The emperor of the galactic imperium only rules his empire through the destructive power of his Jazz Hands
but what if we skipped to the call out because we wanted to know about a specific position?
I chose the IMPERIAL council positions based on name. Because most of them have really stupid names.
The bonuses we get from skills on the person in the position are more important to me, but this has been useful.
requiring a ruler, minister of defense, and head of research on your meagre council of 5 is the illusion of choice
I've only really played megacorps and gestalt since galactic paragons released so alot of this is is new to me...wait theres a chief trade officer and director of trade, why the hell did they not make equivalents for megacorps?!
talking about the Merchant Guild position in the S tier Montu mentions Holy Covenant federation. he means a Trade League right? or am I missing something about Holy Covenant?
Holy covenant have a (possibly) better trade policy that makes 0.5 energy and 0.5 unity per trade value!
@@MontuPlays huh, today I learned. ty Montu! for this and everything else you do!
You didn't cover any of the megacorp specific civic councilor positions. I'd specifically like to call out Private Prospectors with its Outpost build and influence cost -2% bonus.
Councils was one of the best reworks in the game, right after the switch from planet tiles to districts and buildings.
How come you rarely include MegaCorp traits/bonuses in these videos?
The first time I became galactic Imperium it recasted my economics for a bit… I didn’t know that Imperial position swaps your ethics. Well, needed to utilise these Imperial watcher council position to get intel on that matter before becoming imperial
Is there a reliable way to become emperor early? Last time I only managed it after the crisis so it felt a bit useless.
Alright...time to become the leader of the galactic imperium again.
To be honest, I’m realizing that I used some seriously substandard council positions in my last empire… maybe when I remake my Imperium in my next game, I’ll try some different ones.
Though First Citadel was definitely one of my faves throughout that game
My friend and i def play wrong if you're supposed to have quite so many subject empires. But then we play lower difficulties for chill times.
Man it was crazy when mounte imperials around and empire imperlismined the empire
Ok you got me, I skipped right a the S tier start.
I felt so called out lol. It's basically imperial
