Great stuff. Reminiscent of Manuel de la Torre swing method which I use in my own golf swing. Swing the whole club with the hands and arms in a circle and the body responds to the swinging motion.
I have been working on my swing path this year and have made great improvements in the quality of strike. My miss is the big push or occasionally a hook. This concept at 10:00 has highlighted where I can focus to reduce those misses. Now that my downswing is corrected, focusing on the right arm going past the stance line on the follow through may really help. Thanks.
Hi Eric it is a good video giving clarity on the hand path and club path in an arc ( a circular movement ) and one thing I observed in the sample video you showed is that the divot after impact is also not straight it is a degree or so towards left
Good stuff, Eric! You talk about the left arm coming down along the line of the club set at 20 degrees inside the stance line on the down swing. That means your left arm is also following that line on the backswing? I'm working off that assumption when I set up my station in this manner but wanted to make sure that's correct. Thanks!
Thank you! Yes, exactly right! The lead arm is ideally working inward across your chest a good amount...say 20-40° inside the stance line at P3 (lead arm parallel in backswing)👍
Great video! For someone who has problems with a push hook (me) to swing MORE left "seems" counterintuitive. If the ball is going too far to the left - it seems like you should swing more to the right. It is fascinating that what makes "sense" as a fix often, in reality, makes the problem worse.
Thats correct... Keep in mind as you swing your club path more left, it helps keep the face less closed to the path The more you swing right the more you need to close the face to path The more you swing left the LESS you need to close the face to path (to get the ball to target) so they go together!
@@CogornoGolf The Law of Opposites. Explains also why slicers (RH) whose ball ends up too far to the right - naturally swing MORE to the left - which exasperates the problem further. Would be a good video for the future. Thanks again!
Not sure if this video was made based off of the most recent feedback I received from Steve as this concept was one of the suggestions he had made in our last lesson..regardless, I absolutely love it! This is just the extra depth I needed to better apply these principles. Very timely!
Hey Eric. Great video. Question, what moves when? What starts the swing? What moves first? What’s the sequence of moves? Is it side bend? Is it the knees changing flex? What’s the sequence? Do you have a video of the sequence?

@@CogornoGolf Thanks for the reply. I’ve been using this drill for a couple days and it’s incredible how much better rotation it promotes especially the exit angle.
So when I’m swinging good my path is pretty zero. Maybe 1-2 degrees either way. But when everything falls apart I shank and hozel hit path gets to much out to in . The other day in a sim I was hitting good then the hozel started . I thought to do this left arm drill on the downswing abs instantly hit the ball in the middle of the face . I’ve always thought my hands got to far away from my body in the downswing . Question though wouldn’t this promote toe strikes ?
Damn... is this why I always tend to hit it close the heel . My hands move too far away from body normally and my swing is more up/down then around my body. So I guess I am doing everything wrong.
Much more repeatable contact and ball flight. Bad hand path can work but you need to practice a lot more and is much more hand eye coordination is required.
Hey ross! The hands move DOWN and OUT (toward the ball) until they get to about the right leg.....then from there through the ball and into finish they work UP and LEFT
Thanks! A few questions popping up relative to positioning the alignment sticks or clubs: 1. Can you tell something about where they start? What would be the distance to your feet? 2. Is this starting position related in any way to pivot point marking? (For instance: Joe Nichols' corners...)
Hey! 1. Anywhere outside of the ball target line would be fine! Here is an example of back station setup: ruclips.net/video/jI5TRIbVuAY/видео.html 2. Just anywhere outside of the ball target line for placement and then roughly through or just above shoulders would be good
Same thing. Thats the SHAFT being shallow....slow mo any good player you like and stop them at left arm parallel in downswing Butt of club outside ball line (shaft angle) but hands in line with sternum (roughly) (hand path) then it works back in
I have found out if you get the hand path correct everything else will fall in place. Swing plane can’t be accurate if the hands are off, very few teachers even mention “hand path” you always hear about plane. Plane is determined by what the hands do.
eric needs to get off ths technical stuff and just show the swing from above to a student..show the student and a good swing from above and let them do what they need to copy it...
The boys are back together!! In to in and arms below shoulder line on both sides is just gold!!
:) Thank you, David!
Your shot sound is amazing. It is a total explosion. Keep it up.hope it is not AI-generated
No AI here! :)

So much goodness in your videos! Just loving the clear instruction!
Appreciate it, Melba!
20 degree club/training shaft on each side is a great way to in effect slow the downswing visually Eric. Thanks for another great look. Stay safe-Russ

great video! this is been one of my biggest issues. bc your hand path is most related to your striking on the sweet spot vs half in off center.
Thanks! Absolutely!

Excellent video
Thank you, Khaleel!
I feel like this would promote “lower hands“ at impact versus the high hands/toe deep divot correct?
Yep....at impact the shaft angle should be only SLIGHTLY higher than setup (depends some)

Hey! I need to see your swing on video to confirm what you are REALLY doing compared to what you are FEELING to say for sure....
How do you get it so that the arm dont shoot out in front of the stance line in the downswing?
Hey Bob! You need to keep your chest and shoulders from opening too quickly to start down
ruclips.net/video/bScRl_O6UUo/видео.html
I’ve been struggling hitting it off the heel a lot. Always felt like I was too far inside out. This may help.
Could definitely be Mike!
I would do this one 20-30 reps daily next 90 days to neutralize swing path

Is that Hale Irwin in the video?
He may have been in there! There were lots of greats in the video!
In another video you had the butt of the club pointing outside the ball on the downswing, what are we doing here?
Same thing. Thats the SHAFT being shallow....slow mo any good player you like and stop them at left arm parallel in downswing
Butt of club outside ball line (shaft angle) but hands in line with sternum (roughly) (hand path)
then it works back in
Dang, the swing works like a windshield wiper in its simplest form.

Wouldn't this promote the dreaded inside takeaway? How to safe guard against this?
Hey!
1. Nope
2. Watch forearm rotation (dont do too much) and with hinge (you need some) to keep the club head even with or outside of hand path
