"I found myself staring at this picture for the last 2 years." Absolutely relatable!
Thank you for the details about stitch speed with ruler work. I love the idea of using the wider foot and still being able to keep the ruler along the edge of the last line quilted. Great explanations and a pleasure to watch. I can’t wait for more!
One of my favorite video so far! Nicely done, can't wait for part 2, 3 and 4!
Beautiful work Kristina. 38:02
I'm a longarm quilter myself and I still find this mesmerising to watch! I totally relate to the procrastination/being stuck when not knowing what designs to use and appreciate the time you took to verbalise your thoughts and film your process. The video turned out great, so thank you Kristina!
This was so helpful to see your thought process in deciding which designs to use in the different spaces on your quilt.
Kristina, this is so helpful.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I have had the Alaska quilt by LBQ on my to do list for quite some time. I live in California and went to the Road quilt Show and visited Edytas booth, met her and picked up the Alaska pattern and ruler finally! And I was so happy to find your video series. I haven’t even started the quilt yet, but I am intrigued with your detailed explanation of how you planned and executed Quilting on this beautiful quilt! I especially liked how you showed taking the bar off and switching to Clearview mode right in the middle of your project. I can’t wait to get started on my Alaska quilt, and when she’s all finished quilting her on my Amara, Miss Ellie! Thank you so much again. Oh, and I was happy to hear you are from Alaska! Beautiful state and can’t wait to visit again. Laurel
I was at Road also!! I was in the classroom for the majority of the time teaching. I did get to stop by LBQ for a minute. What a lovely lady! - Kristina
Thanks Kristina, I really enjoyed watching your process. I am at the point where I stall on starting because I can't decide how to quilt it! I also am glad you showed the tip on changing to Clear view after your quilt was basted.
Boy, do I need this! I have several quilts I want to custom quilt but have no idea what to do. I look forward to the other videos in the series.
What a beautiful quilt, and and excellent tutorial! This is one of my very favorite quilt top patterns and Kristina has talent in piecing and quilting this incredibly beautiful quilt. Very impressed with her work! :) Can't wait for Part 2 and beyond....
Thank you so much!!! - Kristina
Gorgeous work. My Alaska Quilt has been in the making for a few years now too.
This was outstanding! Christina, your voice is so easy to listen to, your explanations are precise, and you don’t feel like you have to talk every minute. This is the hardest part of quilting and I learned so many things just watching, stopping, and rewatching! Looking forward to the next video! Thank you!
Ahhhhh! That was so nice to hear. I appreciate it! - Kristina
It is encouraging to see this done. Thank you. Now I see that it takes time to do a good job. Must put my "rush to finish" mode away and relax into the process.
Definitely!!
you do such awesome work can't wait until the next one
That was so neat to watch!
Definitely your best so far Kristina. Hope to see more videos like this!
Such beautiful quilting. I learned so much. Thank you.
It was GREAT watching Kristina work in her own environment!
I can’t wait for Part 2! I’m feeling very inspired! I’m always stumped as to what to quilt!❤
I believe part 2 will be this upcoming Tuesday!
Loved this!! Thanks for sharing your thought process. This was so informative for me. I like ruler work but never know what to do. It also showed me that I am not slow at doing ruler work. Can’t wait for part 2 ❤❤❤❤
Beautiful photos. Beautiful quilt.
I am so excited for this. I am a newer quilter (3 yrs) and I have taught myself FMQ on my domestic. I finished my Alaska quilt Feb 23 and know my skills cannot embellish it in the way I would like, but I am not willing to wait to enjoy this quilt. I refuse to pay for an E to E and give up on all the beautiful secondary patterns. So for Christmas family gave me money to have it custom quilted, but not enough to go crazy. So I have been trying to focus my thoughts to tell the Long armer what I am hoping to see and maximize her contribution, as it is likely the only quilt I will ever have customized professional quilting on. I have searched the internet for pictures of this with customized quilting and most show E to E. Good luck. I am cheering for you all the way!
What a fun Christmas present!!
Excellent inspiration!! Can't wait to see part 2.
Really interesting and fascinating to watch xxx
Excellent video. It gives me ideas on how to use do some of my quilts.
Wooooo ❤❤
I just finished piecing the Alaska quilt. I plan to custom quilt myself.
Very helpful video!
Excellent
Thank you! This is EXACTLY the type of video I’ve been looking for!! When will the part 2 be released?
It is scheduled for the last Tuesday in January.
Gorgeous Quilting! Ty soo much! Now I am wondering if I should use that Monopoly on my Spirits of the Wind Panel... on the horse and the eagle. Yours looks so lovely. What an inspiration.
If you haven't tried the Monopoly, give it a try!! It is fantastic! You will need to loosen your tension with it!
ok, Ty for letting me know! @@HandiQuilter
Ha Ha! I was reading through the comments and a viewer talked about MONOPOLY, I thought what does the board game MONOPOLY have to do with Kristina's quilt!! Ha Ha!
You said you wasted the quilt to the leader cloth because it would be taken on and off to accommodate doing customer quilts in between. So do you have two sets of leader cloth?
I mean basted
I have lots of sets of leaders just for this purpose!!!
That bar that is close to you that has the leader cloth wrapped around it… The Quilt typically goes over that bar. But you have it under. So the flat surface that you are quilting would be sloped downhill towards you. How are you making that work?
In the video, I talk about how I have already basted the entire quilt top to the batting/backing. The quilt top pole is therefore left without anything attached to it. It is still loaded properly and is level. During the video, I also show how I changed to clearview part way through the video.
can I get the design you used ?
Which design are you referring to? This was all done free motion.
