I was searching for reviews on Kriega OS-Base 32 combo packs, and stumbled on your awesome video. The only other additional space I need is for fuel bottles and cook set. Thanks. Great video. Keep the same format.
I've got the zigzag bag as well on my bike. it's a handy little bag but not waterproof. may be water-resistant but not very well. I ended up sowing a canvas flap over the zip with velcro. can handle the biggest New Zealand rain pore downs now.
Great info. I have the OS12 and base too, excellent system. Coincidentally I made a similar tie down mounting bracket on my wr250r which works really well.
I've got the OS base with the 12L's on my Dr650 and the same system with 18's on my Norden. Bought a pair of 6L's too. Can mix match, add, upsize, downsize, whatever. Really versatile system.
Nice round up of your gear...im waiting for the T7 specific Kriega OS combo, should be ready soon i hope . Like you say, you gradually build up a set up that suits you and keep refining it. I looked at an old photo of my XR650R and smiled at the bin liner wrapped luggage and Army surplus packs on it!!, I'm all posh now with my Kriega luggage!! . By the way, if you ever need to fit any little tie down eyes or brackets etc, check out the stuff in yacht chandlers. There's lots of neat, beautifully made stainless steel stuff, with rounded edges (to prevent lines from fraying). Cheers, Steve
Thanks for all the details, Greg. Good video with the summary of your gear and purpose. Please share the exact details of the ThermaRest mat. My one is 25+ years old and not comfy anymore. Thanks, Bernd
ah... i have the universal base, to go on my PR7...which i sold... and i'm now rocking a heavily modified 89 transalp. old and slow, just like the rider. Anyway, one issue with the bases, is the lack of ability to cinch down the forward straps. Wish they just gave you longer straps, like the cam straps. The forward straps are just passive (and in my case don't reach far enough forward). All of the tensioning is done with the rear mounts. I'm going to mess around with it, but the only thing i think i can do is move the base further forward, over the back of the seat. My TA has crazy Africa Twin body work (done by previous owner), and it's got really wide 'hips'. Anyway, Kriega should at least make the forward straps longer, if not longer AND cinch-able.
would you be able to put a peak design capture plate on the harness of that backpack? I may need to upgrade to a bigger backpack if i get more or bigger gear 🤣
Great video! I'd been trying to decide between the Endurostan or Krieger panniers for my 690. One question, your packing didn't include any shoes? Only ask as shoes or sandals always seem to take up too much space and are something I always forget about until the last minute and there's no space left..
Greg, Great vid on your trip, your vid on your luggage was just what l needed to watch l will be going on a trip sometime soon on my husqvarna 701 enduro and was wondering if you could help me with a couple of questions, 1, roughly how much weight in total would you say was all your luggage as l need to upgrade my rear spring. 2, would the kriega suit my 701 and would it be the OS spec bags. Cheers joe👍
I’m just getting into lightweight adventure bikes, buying a new CRF 300 Rally. My main bike is a 1200 GSA with the BMW bins on it which are fantastic for the long haul camping trips, however as I said I’m getting a 300 Rally for the more off road type stuff. My question it do you think the Kriega OS gear will be ok for this little beast? Cheers in advance 👍🏻
The Kriega gear will be a great fit on the CRF250 Rally. You should do a bit of research about mounting options. I've not tried putting the OS Base on the Rally.
Tent porch: in Oz everything comes in the tent at night or the morning is a snake, spider, scorpion, rodent discovery trip!! 😳 “Didn’t use it”!! That was funny. Could have halved your kit. 😁 Sea to Summit do really good sleeping bags and liners that enables me to cover a very wide range of temperature conditions. I have a Kriega 10 with my tools and first aid kit. Couldn’t get down to 5, which I also have. Kriega are great. I never carry rucksacks. Throws you off balance and fatigues you. My jacket has a bladder pocket. I do have a Kriega hip pack for my valuables and camera stuff. That works really well. Great video…I have similar gear. Coming from hiking to adv biking helped me to understand what’s important. Thanks for sharing your system 👍🏻😁
Great information once again Greg, bikes looking well sorted and much prefer the new decals top job😉👍 which make of pump are you using if I may ask ? And have your tried using it on the pr7 wheels ?
The manual pump is just a Mountain Bike pump, nothing fancy. I've not had a puncture on the PR7 yet but it works on the KTM which is the same setup. The CO2 pump is a Lezyne Alloy Drive CO2.
thx for the video. I just dislike the video cuts in exactly those moments I am actually curious about. Like how it is to take off a bag from the base.. You go, touch and off it is.. That's certainly not the case and I'd actually be interested how this plays out in reality.. But in all review videos that is always cut away... I start to wonder why...
Hi Greg, how many liters does the G.L.Rogue waterproof backpack hold? what do you use As for the fastening straps, which ones did you order on the web?, to get the whole assembly (os12, us5, G.L.Rogue, subframe)..
The Rogue has a 17ltre capacity. I use the Kriega cam straps to attach it to the bike/OS Base. I also have some Kirega sub frame loops on the bike which are really handy.

Great video as always! Have you weighed all the stuff you carried?
The luggage on the bike was about 13kg (including panniers and bags).

@@adventurespec That's really low! I always try to keep the luggage at maximum 10% of the wet weight of the bike (without me and my gear). And well positioned, of course.
@@adventurespec I currently use crocs with shorts or if its cold trousers with black seal skin socks with crocs. it does not look as bad as it sounds honest lol.
Looks like a darn near perfect set up for what you were doing....thanks much for sharing this!
Thanks for watching!
As always very informative and professional with perfect humour 👍

I used one on my other Kriega backpacks (R20). I think Wil had one on his T9 for this trip.

For this trip I did not take shoes as we were only away for a few days.
Nice setup bud 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
You could all the new tarp "The Secret Cabin"
Greg have you compared this system to the mosko moto reckless system? I'd be curious on pros and cons as I'm considering both.

Hi Joe. Luggage weight including panniers etc was about 13kg. The Kriega OS Base and OS bags were built for rackless bikes like the 701.

Hi can you tell me please,do you find your hands go numb through vibration while riding this bike?
Does anyone else suffer from this problem?
Hi - this bike is positively smooooooth compared to my KTM 450EXC. No problems with vibration at all.
No other shoes than riding boots?
Hi Greg which Thermarest mat was it please

What shoes do you take that pack small?
I didn't take shoes on this trip. Just my riding boots.
