  • In this video I'm fixing the light leaks problem in my Mamiya RZ67 medium format camera by removing the old light seals and replacing them with new ones.
    Tools you'll need:
    -light seals sheet
    -caliper
    -measure
    -cotton buds + wooden sticks
    -nail polish removal
    -precission set
    Thanks for watching!

    A really useful guide to solving a problem which as the original RZ Pro backs grow older will become increasingly common. A pity one cannot now buy a set of pre-cut seals as these were at one time available online. Just to point out that the sealing was different in the RZ2 backs in order to avoid this problem.

      Thank You Gareth! I decided to create this video coz I haven't found any video about fixing light seals in RZ - it was difficult to find any scheme. Ouch I totally forget about RZII film back!

      hey, a quick question, my RZii backs had no visible light seal, was wondering if that is normal?

    I found it easier cutting the narrow strips of foam using the rotary paper cutter at work rather than by knife.

      That's a great idea! if You have one it'll be much easier to make precise cut :)

    Can anyone verify the thickness of foam? Also what type of foam? It seems like open cell foam, (Polyurethane foam) is what the original foam was, but I'm not sure.

      Hi! I used 2mm foam and it works good - i haven't found any information about original thickness of foams - I think, that 1,5mm should work fine too :) This foam is made by 3M company, but there ain't any information about the foam type it seems like polyurethane foam with soft surface. One of my friends is using a thick thread and it works ok in his cameas too. The most important thing in changing foams in your camera (imo) is to use soft material, that can get squeezed by the camera/film back doors :)

    Cześć, bardzo przydatny film! jak nazywają się te arkusze przylepne po polsku? Chciałbym je poszukać stacjonarnie w sklepach albo chociaż na allegro, w jakim rodzaju sklepów mogę je szukać. Po prostu nie chciałbym tego sprowadzać z Chin

      Cześć, wielkie dzięki! Jeśli chodzi o arkusze, to zazwyczaj występują pod hasłami "pianka samoprzylepna" najważniejsze to szukać po grubości. Miałem problemy ze znalezieniem tego w kraju, nawet w sklepach - dlatego kupiłem na ebay. Trzymam kciuki, żeby udało się znaleźć! :)

    Did you replace the dark slide seal?

    • @mjozefowski
      @mjozefowski  2 года назад

      Only this seals that I put on the video - dark slide seal - you mean near the film back lock? :)

    • @ThePhotofit
      @ThePhotofit 2 года назад

      @@mjozefowski Yes. I think there is thin seal that prevents light hitting the film when the dark slide is removed.
