That crunching sounds was Rhett trying to shift gears without pressing in the clutch all the way so essentially the teeth on the gears were spinning into each other. Which isn’t to great for the gears themselves but the clutch itself would be fine. The only way Rhett could have caused damage to the clutch is if he was riding the clutch too much. Meaning causing the clutch to rub against the flywheel for too long from improper shifting. making it heat up and give out that burning clutch smell. Just some knowledge In case anyone’s interested. The sad part is most friendships don't last nearly 40 years. Most end after college. People usually drift apart and go their separate ways when they become adults. Life gets in the way for most and they don't carve out time for others that aren't family. Also it's rare that two best friends start a business together and become successful based solely on their friendship. People love Rhett and Link because they have a long history as two best friends. They've known each other as long as my parents have known each other and that's a rare thing. They are so lucky that they found a brotherhood they can share together for life.

His hair could have obstructed his vision repeatedly as a safety hazard, plus the ends of some strands could be like scratchy little daggers from the hairspray they still retained. Also would have been a tangled mess by the end of the trip, but much more difficult to detangle because of the residual stickiness of the hairspray.
