I’m 27. Held many managerial jobs. Never ironed a shirt or learned to tie a tie. Got married a year ago, had to have my brother tie my tie. Hurt my ego a bit. This and his tie video will make me able to do my own at my sister-in-laws wedding in June! Way to go dad!
🎉👍 yay proud moment! I’m a mom and when my son asked me to tie his tie I had no idea how, my husband did it for him but I feel moms need to know how to also that’s why I love his videos.
Some parents think their children want expensive gifts ...they don't even know that all we want is 20 minutes of their time to teach us how to iron a shirt.
Yes exactly my mom bless her heart both my parents don’t have much patience and she use to make us iron my dads shirts but I wasn’t so good so she’d move me out of the way and say, “if you want something done right you gotta do it yourself” and finish the shirt off 😏 instead of being patient and helping me learn.. so I never learned. Loving his videos
Too true. When I was a teen I wanted to get into photography. When I told my aunt she went on and on about how great of a professional free lance photographer she used to be. Self taught too blah blah blah. So I asked her to teach me some stuff, whatever she knew. She told me to just go take a class at the local community college. 🙄 Like..hey stupid..I wanted to bond with *you*. I wanted the experience of someone in the family teaching me and sharing with me something they enjoy and we can enjoy together. And she just..told me to go take a class. I gave up on pursuing it. It just bummed me out and was yet another example of how no one in my family has any sense of heart and bonding for the sake of enjoying each other. Like quality time just isnt a thing in their minds, sadly.
Don't you sometime see a youtube video and feel that hey, this person, it'd be so awesom if I knew this person personally, such a cool person, I wish he was my neighbour, teacher, relative, friend, someone I could just say hi to, ask questions, maybe sometimes in a bluemoon be helpful to them in any way, that'd be so cool. Yeah, I feel like that when I see this gentleman give advice. What a fine human being.
I’m not trying act “privileged”, but I have both parents home that could help me, but don’t. They have a tendency to be judgemental and aggravated when I admit I don’t know how to do something, so it’s hard to learn new things, so thank you for this! It’s nice to have a pleasant teacher ❤️
Parents should be teaching not judging!! If they’ve never taught you how to do something so basic they should just teach when you ask for help! I just bought my first home last year-there are so many small things that come up & I can call my dad and ask how do I fix this or can you help me fix it. He always explains what to do and if I can’t quite figure it out he’ll come over and show me how to do it. I’m incredibly blessed to have him & im so happy this man is doing it for millions of people who aren’t as privileged as myself. Also, I’m gonna keep coming back here so I don’t have to bug my dad so much 😂😂
I don't have a father and I still don't think you're any "privileged". You need advice just as much as we have, or even more - you also need a mother-side channel. So, grab some cookies and welcome to the club! :D
One thing being done properly here that viewers might miss is to take the time to make sure the bit you’re about to iron is flat. Imagine that the iron doesn’t make your shirt flat, it just locks in the flatness you’ve created by carefully stretching it over the ironing board.
My dad left me when I was 7yo and my mom died a few years ago, I never iron a dress shirt again until I find this video. Thanks, man. This is pure gold
This video made me realize that there's a lot for me to learn especially when I become a father one day. How can we teach our children if we can't teach tem simple things. I mean children could ask more complicated things than just how to iron a shirt. Thanks for this video dad. Keep it up!!!
Hey check out John Gottman's parenting book, I think its called How to Raise an Emotionally Intelligent Child or something similar. Its not a long book but its got good information in it! He and his wife are the leading researchers of marriage counselors and also have great books om how to have happy successful marriages and dealing with arguments and stuff. Best of luck to you and your family. I hope you all grow in love and happiness together.
My dad also walked out on me. And honestly, i saw all your videos and it made me tear up. This is really amazing and beautiful that you’re doing this. Thanks pops.
I also run a similar channel in Korea. I have received a comment similar to a good one on your channel, and it was very rewarding. My first video was ironing my shirt. I wish you all the best. It will be like a dream if I get a chance to meet you someday.
Thank you so much for this video. I was never taught to iron a shirt and this was super helpful!! I love what you are doing. Thank you for making these!
ahh, so that's how to deal with the small gaps in shirt! i need to know all these basic skills, since my mother kind of ignoring me and my dad still need my help to do these basic skills. anyway, love to see someone doing like this. i knew about your channel from my friend. well, he told me about what you have been through. hope you're doing well during this pandemic!😄
I’m going through a bad breakup, my partner was the handy one, and my dad is absent from my life. It makes me feel good to know I can probably come look here for some help. Thank you for giving me that.
I am Spanish-speaking I lost my father at 7 years old and now I am 16 and these videos help me a lot and please love and love your parents every minute you are with him because from one day to the next I love this content
Is it perfect? Probably not. Is it quite a high standard? Might be not. But the dude is straight up helping those who simply couldn't, so they can know the basics and improve upon such knowledge, even as simple thing as ironing shirt. Thank you.
You're a godsend, sir. The amount of times I asked my father to teach me something and he'd straight up say "How do you not know that? That's basics!"; Yeah but I'm asking, so why not just show me how it's done instead of whining even though you refused to teach me anything and saying "go away, I'll do it" even though I asked many times to learn. Thank you for showing us folk how it's done with calmness and patience, instead of anger, rushing and disappointment
For newbies, I would recommend facing the iron away from the shirt wherever you set it down. It can be very easy to graze the iron and accidentally singe your hand
Here's a tip:I grew up always using the highest setting on the iron for every fabric. The way I don't burn my clothes while doing this is by just laying out my article of clothing the way I want it (for the creases to be correct and whatnot), and then I lay a cotton bandana over it flat, and that is good enough to protect the fabric that I'm wearing from getting burnt, and then iron with firm pressure as usual. This has always produced the best creases for me, and I was never wrinkled because of it.
Thank you! My mom taught me to iron my dad’s dress shirts when I was 11 but I don’t iron regularly. Now that I have two daughters in private school, I want to get in the habit of ironing their uniforms instead of just hanging right out of the dryer. Thanks for the lesson!
I'm 14, Brazilian, and my dad left me and my mother when I was 3. I still remember the fight, and today, I see my dad once in tree or two months. He did not teach me nothing, and I don't think he will one day. So this channel is saving my teenage, haha. Thanks man, you're doing my dad's role. It's helpful, and I hope one day I can learn how to drive. That's my biggest teenager dream nowadays lmao
My father's been in prison since I was 6, and I'm 22 now. Thank you for these videos, I saw your Chanel from a Facebook post and.. it's really nice to have a lot of tips that can help in day to day life. Thank you Especially because my bf doesn't like ironing cause he burned himself as a kid lol
My daddy's been gone for 20 years this year, and I need you to keep making these videos because he can't. I love what you're doing for people of every age. I'm probably older than you and I need to hear this tone of voice in a kind, instructive, manner - not judging me for not knowing the simple things, thank you so much for that.
Most of these things are not simple. They are chores that were imparted for generations until the latchkey generation. We got robbed. For the most part, it wasn't our parents fault. This dude is doing everything he can to make the world a better place. He deserves the blessing for continued success.
I am 30 years old! I had one son before I met my bf! Now I have 4 boys! I needed this for weddings, and days they have programs at school! Thank you so much for this video!
I'm in college at the moment, so there's a lot of new things I'm learning, ironing being one of them. I tried watching some other tutorials, but there was no passion or connection with the audience. This is what I love about 'Dad, how do I?' and similar people who act as parental figures to the Internet.. it's very personal and much appreciated 🧡
Thank you so much for the teachings, I lost my father when i was twelve and I was really having a hard time doing stuffs in the house. My girlfriend recommended me to watch your videos and it was really been helpful. It is so hard not having a father by your side growing up. Thanks man!
My father was a work-o-holic. I love him. He provided us more than we needed. But you’re giving me the advice my mom had to teach me. From wall patches to ironing my shirt, my mama was a good father and mother.
I was definitely not expecting to get emotional when I was looking for your channel but here am, wiping tiny tears off of my eyes. Thank you for taking out time and doing this! Its very valuable.
Unfortunately, my mom can be quite stubborn at times and has decided she won't be ironing anyone's clothes anymore plainly out of spite. When I asked her to teach me how she just said I'm on my own. This has been very helpful and I'm glad we got to see the entire process with no cuts. Thank you sir!
Thank you. I'm trans and my dad found out. Needless to say he took it badly. I bought my first proper dress shirt and pants today (with my own money) and now I need to iron it:)
I always knew that fathers are important for a child's life but your channel made me realize just how important it is, I see your video titles and wonder to myself "how does (friend name) know how to do that?" And it makes me feel so dumb and spoiled in such a negative way and I always thought that it was me, now I realize that it's not me but the absence of a genuine fatherly figure in my life, thank you for making these videos, I greatly appreciate it
Thank you... Thank you You are like a fatherly figure to me, my father never comes home, when he comes home he is either drunk or just there for a few seconds I can’t even say hi. I have a father but he’s not like my father. He never taught me anything. My mum taught me lots but never taught me what you taught me, Thank you so much.
You’re such a kind and caring person. Thank for being there for people when it comes to even the most easiest tasks, just showing and going trough how to do said thing is so nice and helpful. Thank you so much!
Thanks for all that you do! I am also glad to know that I am not the only one who sets up an ironing board so that the tapered end is to my right (I'm right-handed). I think the convention is to have the broad end on the right (some old? models even used to have a tray on that end for the iron). Like you, I pivot the shirt around the broad end and then move to the tapered end for the shoulders, except that I do so by applying the iron to the reverse (in)side of the shirt. I then turn the sleeves right side out and apply the iron on the rears of the sleeves. End with collar. Thanks again!
Hi dad, thanks for this. I don't own dress shirts or wear them but my partner does and I do the ironing so this is helpful. God bless, may every dad be like you.
This is awesome stuff. I loved my father dearly but he was passed out all the time from being the loving alcoholic that he was. Thanks dad for showing me how to iron my dress shirts.
Great, Dad! What I do differently: 1/ Iron sleeves first 2/ Iron collar flat, front and rear (only fold after ironing, no pressing) 3/ I use spray starch (sparingly). Read this in an Ironrite manual: Dry ironing is good ironing (meaning ironing dampened clothes until they are dry).
I'm a single mother raising a boy. Huge thank you good sir for making this channel! I came across you in one of those RUclips rabbit holes. So glad I did! Most helpful. Please keep these videos coming in 2022! 😊💗🙏
Thank you for these amazing videos! I'm in tears because not alot of parents (mom or dads) take the time to show their children much of anything anymore. May god bless you always for blessing others with your knowledge! My boys, 7 and 8, will definitely be watching your videos as soon as they come back from their dads. God bless you and your family always!
I love this! Nobody usually bothers to explain the simple things. Thank you for also specifying what to do with the gather on the back of men’s shirts because I’ve never understood how to deal with that, but now I do!
My brother passed away from complications of diabetes, leaving behind two young sons who were just on the verge of needing to learn these things. Your videos are so beautifully done and your style is so kind and so similar to my late brother's, it makes me cry! Sharing your channel with their mom...Thank you!
I do have a dad. He's a good man, provides but still is completely flawed. I remember him cursing me for not knowing how to iron clothes as a kid. How am I supposed to know if no one's taught me? Developed a deep hatred for anything Laundry over the years. Forgiveness hasn't been easy. A daily choice nowadays too . The WD-40 put a smile on my face . 🙂 Thanks for helping heal my heart in this way ,didn't know I needed this . God bless you Man , Sir , Dad ... 🙂
I'm 13. Dad's in the military. Mom would leave really early to work, and go home very late. My siblings would often wear creased uniforms to school and I couldnt just stand that. Thanks for teaching me how to iron, now my siblings look really neat.
Just watched the shirt ironing video....I come from a family of 10, and ma had her hands full, so we learned this at a pretty young age. You do it exactly how I was taught! I'm a neat freak, so I've ironed my own shirts for 55 years. When I was a young man, ladies were always impressed with the fact I knew how to iron my own shirts. You are doing an amazing job impressing kids....no pun intended.
I'm 20 years old and even though I have my dad present but it's like if he's away, I never learned any of this and I thank him, I feel like I can train better as a man. Thank you once again, greetings from Mexico City
Grew up without a father and figured out how to do this by myself. Good to know I've been doing it like the other guys out there. You sir are a treasure. Thank you for this. Looking forward to watching more of your vids! :)
16 year old trans fatherless guy. My stepdad taught my brothers everything they needed to know but left me out of the loop. Loving your channel and its helped a lot. Glad to have all these things I should have been taught by my father. Your channel is amazing and so helpful.
I lost my dad at 13 so I learned the basics like how to tie a tie etc but never learned how to do this. Got a job interview after lockdown and I needed this so, thank you!
Heard about these videos you produce and think it is great. I had a dad but not one who taught me things had to learn on my own. Thank you for making these videos
I have a dad but alot of these things noone ever taught me so I had to learn for myself. This has given me some great tips for how to do better next time I iron my shirt, thank you!
Tearing up, big time...my father left his family when my much younger brothers were 10 and 11 years old...the damage that was done to them by that is immeasurable...they never learned how to become men, or how to do SO many things...I was grown up, 10 years older than they were, at the time, and I'm a woman, but I have always, always known that my brothers were "gypped"...my husband was a wonderful father to his children, from his first marriage - both girls - which makes me so proud of him. You, Sir, are a modern day HERO...Blessings...
Didn’t grow up around my dad. Had older sisters, my mom, grandmothers, girlfriend etc. none of them have that said “method” when ironing a shirt. I’m 26 and have been in sales for 6 years, wearing dress shirts, and you just taught me a method. Thank you 🙏🏻
First off I just want to say Thank You You! Your entire channel, the idea behind it and everything, it is just so wholesome it makes me want to cry. It is just so sweet what you are doing. I do have my dad still, but he is a bit hot tempered and easily gets frustrated with me, especially when I don't know my tools and things, but he never really payed attention to really teach me... You're keeping your tone and just being sweet about it, making me feel, even through the screen, that you care and are making sure I am following. Really feels like a dad that cares. My family is a bit old fashined and I am gendered as a female/girl (I am 20, single and live alone, Sweden. Close by my parents though) but I am genderfluid and have always been interested in motors, tools, building, technology etc. and I have always said "It doesn't hurt to know in case I'm alone and need to fix something" like ironing a shirt, switching car battery, changing my car tyre or fix that door or shelf that broke off or needs adjusting and so on. I'm not going to ramble on, I just want to thank you for giving everyone a chance in life. But especially the ones without a father figure at all to show any of this. Keep going and I hope you are doing well and staying safe in this quarantine!
For years I have been ironing my dad's shirts and it brings me so much joy. You seem like such an amazing, kind-hearted person and all I can say thank you for all that you are doing.
My heart is so filled till my eyes looking at the kindness of this gentleman, by god's grace I have parents but after this video I remembered to be more kinder to them as many are not half as fortunate like me. I am so grateful to God I came across this channel.
It is like the good old days of RUclips. Straight to the point, no editing, good content.
I was just thinking that I hope the production value never changes! It wouldn't be the same if it were slick. This is just like being there.
Don’t you just miss those honest days
You nailed it when you said 'good content'. Most popular videos today are sadly garbage content wise
Yea people back then had no reason to lie to due to no adds.
and no, "Hi, Welcome back to my channel nonsense..."
You are the Mr. Rogers for adults that we didn’t even know we needed. Thank you!!
So true!!
This.

Always looked to Mister Rogers, and I agree :)

3:00 WD-40 is the universal solution for every problem!
And duct tape!😁
Don't forget superglue!
Throw in some bubble gum and paper clips for good measure :P
@@hornkevinj haha good things to have on hand
you're like the Bob Ross of adult chores.
I love this comment so much!
Your videos make me emotional, I never got any of this compassion when I was a kid. I appreciate these so much 🧡
Thank you so much for the teachings, I lost my father when i was twelve and I was really having a hard time doing stuffs in the house. My girlfriend recommended me to watch your videos and it was really been helpful. It is so hard not having a father by your side growing up. Thanks man!
This. This is man is a model of masculinity. This is what nurturing, protecting, non-toxic masculinity looks like.
We need to be more like you, sir.
My father was a work-o-holic. I love him. He provided us more than we needed. But you’re giving me the advice my mom had to teach me. From wall patches to ironing my shirt, my mama was a good father and mother.
You are the father we never had. Thank you, good sir.
I just watched you iron a shirt in 5 minutes and I still can't believe it. You are someone I aspire to be when it comes to ironing shirts.
As a single Mom , whose father was present in my life!, I love your channel
Thank you. I'm trans and my dad found out. Needless to say he took it badly. I bought my first proper dress shirt and pants today (with my own money) and now I need to iron it:)
You are a ROCKSTAR!! Thank you for being YOU! We love seeing you grow and be so genuine! You got this!
I always knew that fathers are important for a child's life but your channel made me realize just how important it is, I see your video titles and wonder to myself "how does (friend name) know how to do that?" And it makes me feel so dumb and spoiled in such a negative way and I always thought that it was me, now I realize that it's not me but the absence of a genuine fatherly figure in my life, thank you for making these videos, I greatly appreciate it
You are a true hero and a kind kind soul, sir. Thank you a billion times for these videos.
Thank you...
Thank you
You are like a fatherly figure to me, my father never comes home, when he comes home he is either drunk or just there for a few seconds I can’t even say hi.
I have a father but he’s not like my father.
He never taught me anything.
My mum taught me lots but never taught me what you taught me,
Thank you so much.
I don't know my father, not even his name. You're an incredible man. Thank you for doing this.
This is awesome stuff. I loved my father dearly but he was passed out all the time from being the loving alcoholic that he was. Thanks dad for showing me how to iron my dress shirts.
It is touching to see a man ironing his own shirt. Never seen it before in my long life. Thank you
Shout out to all the kids whose fathers were too busy to teach them these things and turned out just fine.
You are really awesome! Thank you for loving our children out in this world enough to care about them.
I love this! Nobody usually bothers to explain the simple things. Thank you for also specifying what to do with the gather on the back of men’s shirts because I’ve never understood how to deal with that, but now I do!
Ironing is becoming a lost art. Thank you for helping to correct that
My Dad was a ww2 navy man at 17. He taught me to iron , sew buttons. He earned in the Navy.I have many reminders of him after his passing in his 70's.
My brother passed away from complications of diabetes, leaving behind two young sons who were just on the verge of needing to learn these things. Your videos are so beautifully done and your style is so kind and so similar to my late brother's, it makes me cry! Sharing your channel with their mom...Thank you!
Hi I live in Korea and, I'm 15years old. I was deeply moved by your video. Thankyou for you and your video. Thankyou.
As a seamstress, mom, and lover of ironing, I love this video and you too! I'm remembering my mom teaching me how to iron properly ♥️
Thanks for helping heal my heart in this way ,didn't know I needed this . God bless you Man , Sir , Dad ... 🙂
The world needs more people like you, I watch some of these vids just because I like how wholesome they are!
I actually got taught how to iron a shirt by my dad as a kid. Now he’s resting in paradise🤍🤍 great video !
I am so thankful for this man. I lost my father at a young age and never had chance to learn any of this. Now I can, thanks to him
Tearing up, big time...my father left his family when my much younger brothers were 10 and 11 years old...the damage that was done to them by that is immeasurable...they never learned how to become men, or how to do SO many things...I was grown up, 10 years older than they were, at the time, and I'm a woman, but I have always, always known that my brothers were "gypped"...my husband was a wonderful father to his children, from his first marriage - both girls - which makes me so proud of him. You, Sir, are a modern day HERO...Blessings...
I love the extra nugget of how to fix the squeaks. Thanks dad how do I?, you rock!
At 26, I've been without my father for 12 years. This is so wholesome, thank you.
Didn’t grow up around my dad. Had older sisters, my mom, grandmothers, girlfriend etc. none of them have that said “method” when ironing a shirt. I’m 26 and have been in sales for 6 years, wearing dress shirts, and you just taught me a method. Thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you for this, Dad. I have both my parents but they won't let me do chores and things like this so I'm thankful for this. ❤️
congratulations for that, I imagine that this must have helped many people who had no parents present, you are amazing!❤️
You remind me so much of my dad. Such a genuine kind soul. I can’t stop crying! Thank you so much for taking the time to teach us ALL❤️
First off I just want to say Thank You You!
I guess there is some food in the world. What a great man, doing something great for the people who need it.
My heart is so filled till my eyes looking at the kindness of this gentleman, by god's grace I have parents but after this video I remembered to be more kinder to them as many are not half as fortunate like me. I am so grateful to God I came across this channel.
You are doing really good job by helping all those kids who don't have fathers
