It's like a turn on to me. A man that grooms himself well and keeps his clothes together it so attractive n has the nerve to have an accent lol I love it
Actually, I just need to note down the order and make a checklist. Then I get to iron my shirts one by one, by the end of the second hour it gets down to 5 mins from roughly 25 when I started in the beginning.
Dude, I know it's been a while since you uploaded anything, but seriously, for me, this is the most helpful "how-to-iron" video I've seen. That tip about putting pressure on the back of the iron instead of the tip saved me. Thank you.
My Nan said always start with the back (underside) of the collar, not the arms as you have. She said if your iron is too hot, or you've picked up something sticky or burnt on your iron - you've only damaged the underside of the collar and not ruined the whole shirt. No one will ever see marks on the underside of the collar. You can still wear the shirt (unless you are a 70's disco dancer.) I've done as she said and she was right. I've almost ruined a few shirts in my time but instead got away with an unseen stain or mark on the underside of the collar. Thanks Nan!
You sir just made a huge impact on my life in 4m 15s - You have no idea - for 20 years I've been struggling with this very simple task - my mind has officially been blown. Cheers mate!
I've worked for a famouse Italian designer for 5 years and believe me this is by far the best demonstration and advice I have seen, especially the buttoning of the top button! Top man!
It goes without saying that we learn things one time. I always wondered why iron boards have this kind of shape.I always ironed my shirts using the top of the board only. I didn't know you could insert the edge of the board inside the shirt. LOLL. Thanks John.
My grandparents were from england and wales. I remember my grmother teaching me how to iron clothes. Your demo was exactly how she taught me. Brought back happy memories. Thank you. By the way the best demo.
I have never ironed in my life (because I'm 12) but my parents were away and I needed it for school, now I hope this video has taught me how to do it and hasn't caused me problems with my shirt, otherwise thanks for the help
I have over 100 shirts to iron from my brother in law who died recently. These are really nice, expensive, many hand made shirts. I've never ironed anything. Thank you for your video. I'm learning a lot about ironing on RUclips.
Honestly, this video has turned me from an ironing hater to an ironing almost-liker, which for me is a major change. Thanx a lot for a very concise and helpful video.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You just saved this mother of two small children (and 7 months pregnant) soooo much time. I used to spend a horrendously long amount of time ironing. I just ironed using your tips and averaged about 5-6 minutes per dress shirt!
My first day at a REAL job this week so thanks!! I wore a suit to the interview but the cleaners did this for me. This really helps a lot, the trick with buttoning the top button helps
Life saver! Just had my first successful shirt ironing after a bunch of botched attempts. It's still kind of wrinkly but it'll do. Full *steam* ahead. Thank you, kind British Internet stranger.
Great video! I'm a good kroner but wanted to refine my technique before starting a load today! My mum taught me the same but not to do up the top button so I'll try that too! Secret is to have a good steam iron though to iron anything well. Many thanks. Shirt looks great and didn't need you to show me how to iron a second sleeve! I got it the first time. Lol ;-). Comments before were a bit daft about not ironing the second sleeve. Great a guy is showing how to too. All men should learn to iron as it's not just for women to do!
I got crap clothes but still iron them and I never knew what was cause of ripples and come to find out its form pushing on the front of the iron. Always rushing. Glad I made time to watch these vids. Thanks!
very pleased to see that you iron a french cuff flat without a hard crease at the front - they look so much better just folded and secured by a cufflink...
This is indeed the best shirt ironing tutorial out there. The hints regarding pressing on the back of the iron as opposed to the front in order to eliminate ripples was particularly helpful. I'm still having difficulty with the sleeves though, even though I've been ironing for a good 10 years. Ironing one side creates unwanted creases on the other and I find it difficult to straighten out he sleeve as you say. I also get those ripples across the side edges. Any further hints?
Yes, yes it is. Compared to your other videos, the sound is drastically low. On a separate note, this is how I ironed my shirt today, and I felt AWESOME wearing it :)
Thank you very much for posting this video. You have revolutionized my shirt ironing! I purchased a decent iron and followed your directions - I saved $40 on dry cleaning bills on my first batch. I actually really enjoyed ironing for the first time in my life. Thank you!
Wearing a properly ironed shirt is one of the first serious steps in life, and TM Lewin does an excellent job with this video. Love the comment @ 3:38 though: "I go between the buttons, not over them..."
I'm very particular about ironing shirts, have been from an early age. I thought I had it down to a fine art but I noticed a couple of things in this video which I'm going to try which should improve my technique. Great video thanks.
After all these years I finally had the idea to watch videos for ironing, this one gave me hope. It might take a bit of practice but it makes sense. He gave good tricks too.
I was going downstairs to "iron" (or what I though was ironing! lol) a bunch of my shirts and thought "mmm maybe I should youtube it..." and your video came up first. Thanks a lot! buttoning the one on the neck was the key!!!
Saved my day! Wrestling with a new shirt, making it worse by all accounts trying to iron it. Watched this vid and got rid of the creases! Not down to 3 mins but still, it worked! Thanks
For shirts, you should use the other end of the ironing board, as the wider square area will allow you to iron a similarly wider area of the shirt without extra rotations. You should be able to do each front half, and more than half the back with each part of the rotation. That will cut your ironing time even more.
Straight from Jermyn Street ... you know it's the real deal. :) Keeping us looking sharp-- even in California where flip flops and t-shirts have become the standard uniform, some of us still appreciate a tailored shirt from the source and appropriate instructions on how to care for it.
at times my husband gets angry how badly i iron his shirt, but after watching your way i have learnt a lot, thank you sooooooooooooooooo much for this video, God bless You :-)
I've been on a bicycle from Amsterdam to Sweden, Amsterdam to Poland, halfway to Monaco, lived in 3 countries, did a 30 km bicycle ride every day from/to work (in sun and snowy blizzards).... but ironing shirts is a REAL challenge for me. Thanks, going to try with some of the tips you gave riiiight now! You the man!
I can't tell you how much this has helped me. I have taken two side jobs ironing for families; this has cut my time in half, and they consider me a magician! I really, really appreciate the lesson, thank you. Great work. PS-I loved the ironing of trousers video, but may I suggest a video for ladies trousers (which have more pockets) and using a really rumpled pair to demonstrate how to get in those tricky small areas? That's my current challenge, one of the ladies I iron for wears a size 2!
i work at a cleaners and i might be able to help you it might be a few things maybe your iron is too hot and causes the starch to crystalize or maybe the type of fabric your shirt is starch can stain your clothes if you use too much or if your spraying too close one very important tip is before you spray starch on any clothes spray away then on the shirt usually the cans will form little bubbles that spray a lot and stain your clothes and iron after maybe 5 mins or 10 dont let it dry completely
Helpful tips, no question. Semantics though, you've said a few times it takes 3 minutes. It takes a few minutes before you start to let the mist soak in, and another 10 minutes after to hang, so it really can't be much less than 20 minutes. The collar, and tip on the pesky ripples though was very helpful
you are within a legendary status in our household and what we want to see as the viewer and hopefully soon to be the target audience is a blind folded under 3 minute iron baby , lets go t.m lewin we believe in you lots of love , lbergerallee 89
I work in a drycleaners and used to find TM Lewin shirts, the cuffs especially, VERY hard to do but one day my boss showed me how to master them and this video does skimp on this but otherwise...it's excellent!
no no no no, the sleeves are never that easy. no matter how much i stretch it, i always end up creating wrinkles on the bottom side of the sleeve when i press the iron on the top side.
He fast forwarded so many times and still took more than 3 minutes, and on top of that, as long as the iron touches the material, it's good enough for him, results will not be sufficient for me.
This is an instructional video. He is explaining how to do what he does while ironing. If he would just iron it without talking or stopping to explain all the time, he would easily do it in 3 minutes. You can see how masterful he is just by the motions he does not only with the iron but also how he quickly moves the shirt around on the ironing board. This is a master at work showing you the technique he's using. Just follow this technique and it might start with taking you 10 minutes, while going just a bit faster the more you do it. It takes work and practice to become great at something.
Nothing is more satisfying than a man ironing his shirt with a British accent.
I bet you're gay
It's like a turn on to me. A man that grooms himself well and keeps his clothes together it so attractive n has the nerve to have an accent lol I love it
giokcs You are suffering from accent wankers syndrome
I prefer to use an iron myself.
Manners maketh man.
one man's three minutes is another man's 3 hours
ain't nobody got time for that
truth
You got me
Actually, I just need to note down the order and make a checklist. Then I get to iron my shirts one by one, by the end of the second hour it gets down to 5 mins from roughly 25 when I started in the beginning.
When they show the video, it's covered with the strip where they show written directions
Dude, I know it's been a while since you uploaded anything, but seriously, for me, this is the most helpful "how-to-iron" video I've seen. That tip about putting pressure on the back of the iron instead of the tip saved me. Thank you.
I watched this video the same day he uploaded it. Ive iron hundreds of shirts i even do it faster than my wife. He showed me well. Excellent tutorial
My Nan said always start with the back (underside) of the collar, not the arms as you have. Brilliant tip!
I find this strangely relaxing to watch

You deserved lot more likes!
The easiest way to iron a shirt, in my opinion is to give it to someone else to iron it.
good one..haha
Preferably a female *waits for angry female to comment back*

Before this video, ironing shirts was a nightmare.
Now seeing the results it is a pure pleasure !
By far the best tutorial !!!
My grandparents were from england and wales. I remember my grmother teaching me how to iron clothes. Your demo was exactly how she taught me. Brought back happy memories. Thank you. By the way the best demo.

It actually went pretty well, I now iron all of my shirts and do it pretty well
Joey Galvin Congrats man! There are a few like you out there!
Well done mate that's impressive

I laughed wayyy to hard at this
What an ironic pun.
Got too many irons in the fire, eh?
My first day at a REAL job this week so thanks!! I wore a suit to the interview but the cleaners did this for me. This really helps a lot, the trick with buttoning the top button helps
Huh. I usually iron both sleeves. Maybe I'm just weird though.
hahah nice one
Yeah, what's wrong with the other sleeve? Aren't we supposed to have it done? ;-)
@Green Giant "Sure, iron both sleeves if you want to be like everyone else..." Sheeple! Amirite?
Life saver! Just had my first successful shirt ironing after a bunch of botched attempts. It's still kind of wrinkly but it'll do. Full *steam* ahead. Thank you, kind British Internet stranger.
Mine always come out with more creases than I started with
+Brandelis i feel u bro
Brandelis LMFAO
Dude... i tried to iron when i was like 17, I burnt my shirt. I have just successfully ironed 2 shirts following your method. Cheers bro.

Wearing a properly ironed shirt is one of the first serious steps in life, and TM Lewin does an excellent job with this video.
Love the comment @ 3:38 though: "I go between the buttons, not over them..."
Thank your Sir! 4 minutes ago i was kinda panicking cus i was about to iron a shirt for the first time. But this made me calmer.
I'm very particular about ironing shirts, have been from an early age. I thought I had it down to a fine art but I noticed a couple of things in this video which I'm going to try which should improve my technique. Great video thanks.
He is the Gordon Ramsay of ironing
After all these years I finally had the idea to watch videos for ironing, this one gave me hope. It might take a bit of practice but it makes sense. He gave good tricks too.
After "how to tie your tie" this is the most useful video I have seen recently 😄😊
I was going downstairs to "iron" (or what I though was ironing! lol) a bunch of my shirts and thought "mmm maybe I should youtube it..." and your video came up first. Thanks a lot! buttoning the one on the neck was the key!!!
When you watch this video it seems to be easy but when you do it it's hard and annoying.
@@EaterOfBaconSandwiches Ok bob
A true gentleman of style. I am a student in awe.
I love how he explains everything Thank you
I enjoy watching this gentleman ironing it. It’s so smooth
The most valuable 4 minutes I ever spent on RUclips!
Saved my day! Wrestling with a new shirt, making it worse by all accounts trying to iron it. Watched this vid and got rid of the creases! Not down to 3 mins but still, it worked! Thanks

You should be able to do each front half, and more than half the back with each part of the rotation. That will cut your ironing time even more.
ackthbbft the other end has a convenient place for the iron on all boards so your suggestion could prove impossible
I found it great. Never ironed a shirt before in my life, just did one in about 5 minutes and it looked like it was dry cleaned.
Thanks Sir, I have saved lots of time after applying your technique!
Every man should see this video and your other on how to fold a shirt and also how to “press” your trousers. Great videos. Thank you.
I don't think I've ever used an iron for anything other than making a grilled cheese
Straight from Jermyn Street ... you know it's the real deal. :) Keeping us looking sharp-- even in California where flip flops and t-shirts have become the standard uniform, some of us still appreciate a tailored shirt from the source and appropriate instructions on how to care for it.
You should be able to iron a shirt in 3 minutes!
6 seconds later. "leave the spray to soak in for a few minutes!"....
Raust Zachery And in those minutes... you iron other shirts. You didn’t have a point, and 121 people are as daft as you.
MKRM27 but that shirt itself has still taken longer than 3 minutes.. so the point still stands.
Technically he hasn’t started ironing the actual shirt yet that’s just prep work
Brian Collins - No it didn't. It took even less than 3 minutes. It started at 1:12 and ended at 3:48.
at times my husband gets angry how badly i iron his shirt, but after watching your way i have learnt a lot, thank you sooooooooooooooooo much for this video, God bless You :-)
this dude is king of iron!
Winamp you mean he's the Ironking 😂
I tried did this and it looks great, especially around the collar area. Always had trouble ironing collars.
OMG! He looks so professional doing it. I fucking suck at ironing.

Still watching this video and noticed this is 12 years ago! So awesomely instructions of how to iron!
but i like your vid man reduces my time to iron my shirt from 45-1hr to just 20 mins. seriously i need more practice...
Hello, I tried buttoning the collar and it worked a charm! Cheers
I miss the old school Top Comments!
15 years on, and I still keep coming back to watch this. Addiction?

Yah but he did iron it in 3 minutes right ? Dumbass
MarkY MarC I think he spent those few minutes watching the shirt, maybe that's why he is complaining.
MarkY MarC and forgot to iron the other sleeve
cluber..... and if you listened, he DID say spray it....as PREP before ironing it..
I really enjoyed your attention to detail, I'll give it a go. Thank you for the video. sincerely, a guy that struggles to iron.

you can cut those 3 minutes in half by only ironing the front of the shirt. this way you will save time and always have good first impressions.
Brilliant
This is great. I iron a shirt every weekday for work and i learnt some good tips here. Thanks John Francomb.
was brought here by googling what is "asmr"....and yea this video did it for me lol

This guy makes ironing look like an art!
by the time i fucking iron my shirt.

Ironing like a god damned boss.
Nice video well done the one thing I do differently I iron the collar from both sides to the center to avoid possible wrinkle at the end
10th time I watch this video. still hate ironing...

no no no no, the sleeves are never that easy. no matter how much i stretch it, i always end up creating wrinkles on the bottom side of the sleeve when i press the iron on the top side.
The more I Watch your video the more I am learning how to iron a shirt. Greetings from Italy
3 minutes??! It took him 4 minutes and they cut away shots from the video!
+Dania Hamdan The video length is 4:14 and the ironing start at around 1:09, so that's around 3 minutes.

This guy is probably drowning in clunge
I'm probably going to regret asking...what's clunge?
Pvt Doggo I learned something new, today.
FasterThanSoup I'm probably going to regret asking.....what's pussy...
I believe the word clunge came from the UK TV series The Inbetweeners. The character Jay said it a lot.
he's certainly drowning in "kit" .
Thanks, you're a time savior, I will definetely give it a go since I have to iron my shirts. Nice techniques and advices!
It took me 3 seconds to forward to husband so he can do in 3 minutes.
Your a life saver. @Singapore have an important meeting and my shirt was a bit creased. TY...
I have only 75 seconds to iron my shirt in the morning. hmm
+Nickolas Lim, do the front only to save time, lol
+Nickolas Lim Do it in the night before?
+Nickolas Lim I always do my Ironing on Sunday Morning after My Bath & Breakfast. I watch TV and it helps the day go by fast.
Iron them all in one day and hang them up
Great tip about using the heel of the iron and ironing just the centre of the collar. Thanks, I'll try those!
