Thank you for taking time to share these books. 🫶🏼There are so many amazing illustrated books I can’t get around to seeing them all. Your video gives a chance to see many of them in one place. I’m going through your illustrated books playlist now 😊

Thanks for making these videos, I love them! I love how you show all the pages (as some of these books we cannot get them overseas) and your personal point of view. It certainly help me decide which ones are worth to order. I love the illustrations of Yellow Dog Blues the most by the way, such unique style:)

Thank you for sharing these beautiful illustrated books.📖 It's interesting to see the many styles.🖌️🎨 I remember being little and feeling how big the house 🏡was compared to me. It's very scary for children sleeping in a room on their own. Easier if they have siblings. When my daughter got scared at night and didn't want me to leave her side, I used to lay beside her and wait until she fell asleep. I ended up writing a story around this, but more of a fantasy fairy tale.
I have to say her Dad was very good. He always allowed me to put our daughter first. He's a great Dad!♥️
When my daughter struggled to read, write and spell in school, I used 🎨🖌️ Art, Music 🎵 🎶 and Dyslexic Thinking to help her spell the words she was unable to read. Melody used to sing the stories from the Library. So I think she would have loved the book by the songwriter.
It's 4:15 am in the morning. I broke my foot 🦶 yesterday dog 🐶🐕 walking. 😭🤣. So thank you for brightening up my morning and distracting me from the pain. ♥️
Your a natural. All these illustrators and authors are lucky to have you showcase their books. 📖

Such a great video, Shelly! Thanks for doing this. I hadn’t seen Alemagna’s new book - I might do a deep dive on her work for #picturethis2023 - and Bedtime for Bo wasn’t on my radar at all. My favourite? The Buffy Sainte Marie & Julie Flett collaboration. Everything about it speaks to me as a child of the prairies. I love picture book poetry, and the word play & rhythm are as gorgeous as the art in this one.

I would be very interested in what you dig up on Alemagna! I had a hunch that Sainte Marie and Flett's book might be your favorite. Did you do a deep dive on Sainte Marie's work last year?

@@Shellyish I did a video on Julie Flett in April last year; she’s one of my favourite picture book illustrators. I talked about Still This Love Goes On in a video in January 2023.

Buffy Sainte-Marie is wonderful and I imagine her words in a picture book would be wonderful. The New Rooster illustrations really appeal to me. Farmhouse looks absolutely wonderful - I love imagining who might have lived in my old Victorian house, so that is a beautiful idea for a picture book. Telling Stories Wrong! It sounds like one of my favourite things to do when I’m at school which is to outrage children by saying things in a wrong way - so funny! I always love watching these. The Writer looks great! Thanks for doing this again - always a highlight!

The New Rooster was quite clever. Farmhouse is just lovely! Telling Stories Wrong is incredible. Totally unique in its illustrations. I loved it and didn't want to give it back!

    Beautiful.
Still Love reminds me of Feelings (graphic novel) by Manjit Thapp. Not precisely, more in tonality.
Upsidedown Hat's art reminds me of Curious George.
I love, love, love Farmhouse! and her process for creating the art in the book was fascinating!
The writer totally looks like a book I would love too.
The pointillism style in Telling Stories Wrong works for a child's book. I've seen pointillism used some other places recently and it doesn't work as well there.
Bedtime for Bo is one of my grandson's favorites.

    • @Shellyish
      @Shellyish  Год назад +1

Yes! I see the Upside Down Hat overlapping in style with Curious George! Farmhouse is simply gorgeous, but so is all of Blackall's work. Truly lovely!
Pointillism! That's it! It work ridiculously well!
Bedtime for Bo is such an experience with those large, beautifully illustrated colors. I literally cannot stop thinking about it.
