In this video Laura and I head to Dartmoor for a local mini bikepacking adventure, hitting up three wild swimming spots - lake, river and quarry then wild camping/bivvying. We rode our mountain bikes, certainly some of this route would be fine on a gravel bike, depending on your set up and skillset. Definitely one of my favourite Wild Swim Rides

I was bike packing at the weekend, ended it sprayed with cow shit and had to climb 300m up a hill to escape out campsite midges.

I doubt there's a stretch of water in the country that doesn't have leeches.

Gosh. I'll take 30C all day long. It's insanely humid here and will peak out at 36-37C today. I got a ride in as the sun came up; I had to wring out my shirt when I got home.

Ewww... leeches... really common in New Zealand but they don't feed on humans! Bonus. The Burrator Reservoir shows in the opening shots of Warhorse.
I swim and surf with wild dolphins, Julia swims with leechs? I hope you checked your lettuce when you got out, Not being funny, If I was a woman that would be the first thing I would be double checking, On a serious note, Why don't you use suspention seat posts with your gravel bikes? or have you done a video on that already that I have missed, I know Julia is a techno nurd when it comes to things like that.

Oh leeches ... ... I still remember being mostly unaware of the existence of leeches until I took this epic waterfall shower in Sumatra only to find I had blood soaked socks with leeches inside some 15 minutes later.

I remember this post from last year...returned to it after watching your South Downs adventure......I'm fortunate enough to live in this lovely part of the world....it's wild camping heaven!👍
The averaging heat index is 39* Celsius in DFW Texas the next few days. Anything over 24* Celsius and I start looking for fall weather to arrive.
You should come to America in the lakes in the far South we have amoebas, they are micro organisms that live in the soft bottom of lakes, they can get up in your nose and thru your sinus system make it to your brain where the multiply and feast on it until you die. There is no treatment available. We don’t swim in the fresh water lakes during summer here.

Longer vids are best. Hate camping during the summer due to the heat and bugs. LOVE the fitness model swimsuit vids lol. So attractive and entertaining.
30 degrees? During summer, here in Greece, when we have 30 degrees, we put on our sweaters!!! 😃😃😃 It's always nice having fun with good friends!

'Avon Skin So Soft' is the best thing for defeating midge.
With the added benefit that your bite free skin gets softer.

I can second that, went to Scotland in full on midge season and camped. Good stuff ,cheap compared to what my friends were using and more effective too. :-)

Yup third vote for Avon. I live on a narrowboat and the midges have been absolute murder this summer. ‘Skin so soft’ seems to keep them away without melting your skin off like Deet based repellents do

The UK midge certainty isn't, it's a horrible voracious little bugger, like the insect version of a Velociraptor!

Have you tried filtering and also using a tiny UV bulb to kill all the yuck, tablets taste like bleach.

Beautiful scenery! Tell me about those gates you open, are they private property? Btw, have you considered a water filter like the Sawyer mini? It packs up really nice and no wait to get water. Virtually no maintenance either, just backflush with the syringe periodically.
No private, this is all public land. They’re to keep animals in/out. Not tried one of those

Could bring new viewers and keep current one's interested with new stuff. Need a Manager?! ha ha! IF I did not have FAI I would consider doing one. Hip issue and being a gravel/mtb'ing tennis pro and coach I have all I can handle!
