Awesome! I used to do my weekly run together with a horse because the horse was already quite old (around 23) she had the same speed as me. Best training partner I have ever had
I tried that, too, because I used to ride a pretty lazy horse. But, outside on runs he rediscovered that he was only 5 years old, so he was way too fast for me :D
I take my horse on runs with me occasionally, if I need to run but also need to get him out as well. It's a good change of pace and something fun to do with him besides just riding.

I did this sort of thing with my sister and her horse while I ran on a trail near Vancouver, Canada. What a fun time! This was a great idea by you folks and brought back really fond memories. Thanks for doing this Mark and Heather!😁
Fantastic video and editing. Stunning scenery round Dartmoor. Well done to Franklee, Heather, Mark and the rest of the GTN crew for bringing us this challenge. Heather and Mark will have to go head to head on the Redbull 400 race when travel restrictions are over
lovely challenge, now you know what the 'main events' like over a longer distance, Man....can be equal to horse if ground conditions dictate.....mind you did a lot more walking than I did on my MvH this year! Brilliant video clip....and hats off to Mark for the challenge. Love the Chestnut Franklee, good lad!
To Heather I think you did amazing job, navigating around the course, like that (taking the wide line, think you Heather did a excellent job, (congratulations Heather, and horse) on your win, ace win by Heather.
LOVE this- and now I have another race for my bucket list! Man V Horse 2024? Great riding Heather, what a gorgeous place to have a horse! And kudos to Mark for being so game for this challenge!
I did it twice about 30 years ago. Both on a mountain bike, which were then included. It was dispiriting when the runners came plodding past you as you struggled dragging your bike through the muddy sections, or just steep uphills.
It's down to both of you (horse rider/and Horse) you need a good horse rider very good, to make horse go fast on a very tricky course. Heather/and Horse the winner, congrats Heather. Best bit 14:05.
This would be much more interesting challenge with proper distances: 100 miles. Same route for both, so only endurance would matter. The course, of course, should be rideable the whole way.
Thanks for the reply, I’m trying to figure out which ON shoes will work best for me. Love the videos keep up the good work team keeping us inspired. Thank you
Now we need to see if a triathlete can do well in modern pentathlon.
Really I just want to see Heather beat Mark in fencing :D
😂
I would't rule Mark out, he's quick to pick things up :0
Me: chillin on a lazy sunday
GTN: Mark vs horse
😮😮
I was surprised too!
The drone footage of Heather riding in this amazing scenery is stunning and her pace impressive
That would be Franklee's pace ;)
I see you're making a good use of Heather's pentathlete skills. In the next episode: Mark is trying to outrun a pistol bullet.
He probably could!
I doubt he would catch it in a sprint, but over a longer distance he would beat it.

That's impressive.

What a completely whacky and absolutely awesome idea! Also lovely to see the whole of Franklee after the glimpses on Strava.
He's a bit of a star!
Damn Heather!, is there anything this amazing woman can’t do.
I think Franklee did most of the work :)
That's what I've been thinking.
Oh man! This is wild! 😂 props for heather’s riding and mark’s running! Props to franklee too! 🥰
Thanks Gary, Franklee was the star for sure.
Great to see the old boy in great heart and shape and lovely to see a proper horsewoman looking after him 😍
He is still pretty fast for a retired horse, he loves it. :)
Nothing beats the bond between horse and rider when you trust each other 😍
The scenery is beautiful! Never thought I would see a horse on a triathlon channel!
Needed a freehub sound check on the horse
Is there anything Heather cannot do ? BOOM!!!
Well she was an olympian in the modern pentathlon so you kinda would hope she could ride a horse...
@@devidia Wow! Plus swims smooth as a dolphin. Basically could be a 007 agent :)

@@archiejames4739 Yup basically it is, prefere the 007 analogy though ;)
Dartmoor is my neck of the woods! 😍
I’m jealous. It’s an incredible place
I'm terrified of horses but am always amazed at their beauty. It's so nice to see Franklee running in such beautiful scenery. Well done.
He's a gentle beautiful horse, you'd feel safe next to him.
Loving this pro vs critter impromptu series they have going on.
Some brave editting in 6:30. "Have you seen the size of that thing?" matched up to images of Heather's backside as she is climbing on to the horse.
Was hoping no one else noticed that ;0

That sounds amazing to do in Vancouver, happy memories.
Great production. A really strong video from GTN!
I'm in love with Franklee. He is just gorgeous. 🐎🐎🐎
Oh he's just a brilliant little horse.
I love these challenge episodes
Franklee is wonderful!! Congrats!!
Great video. Well done to the three of you. Good effort Mark and great riding Heather.
Thanks, Mark definitely had the hardest task!
I like Fanklee's haircut - haven't seen that on a horse before. Made him look two-tone.
It's known as a trace clip!
@@heatherfell_oly very nice
Love to see Mark run. Just love the form for some reason. Seems powerful and efficient.

That was so cool to watch! Franklee is too cute
He's a gorgeous horse!
Just as an update, man has won the race this year (after 15 years of only horses wins). Crazy story about the guys who won the race.
How does GTN film these clips, because Heather waers two diffrent Helmet. And in a race you don't change your clothes :D
Some artistic licence in the name of making a fun video
Chocolate voice Bevan!
What a magnificent animal! (Franklee the horse) good effort all the tree of you 💪💪💪🌞
He really is, I'm luck to get to ride him. :)
Gorgeous horse
Heather and Franklee put out quiet some Wattage
I am guessing 745.7 W for Franklee
@@paulsmith3985 not all horde are 1hp
It was all Franklee!
First 2 mins of the video just shows people take as much loving care of living animals as they do their bikes! ;-)
Probably more :)
I’m guessing Franklee was tired but loving every minute of this.
He still wanted to go, and yes he loved it.
Franklee has a nice clip job
I'll let my mother know, he needed his racing haircut!
Frank looks to be ready for another go at it. Amazing animal!

Awesome video!! Thank you for that!!
Sorry Mark, I was rooting for you this time!!🔥🔥 Next year!! 🏆🎖
Such a pro on that horse!

This was really fun to watch, thank you for doing this! Do more races like this to beat Mark!
I've really got to think outside of the box to beat him as you can see!

First Wilma as a guest star and now Franklee! They were both great presenters!
We'll be out of jobs if we're not careful ;)

Next time - revenge crossroad in the forest XD .

Agreed, on a short course like this the horse has the advantage
Franklee: My Dear, I don't give a damn!
Man vs Juan
Heather do u think horse riding can help with your fitness as I am a professional horse rider training for my 1st Ironman?
It's great for your core and bike legs but you'll still need a lot of tri training I'm afraid.
Humans in the distant past would hunt horses by running them down over incredible distances, so it's possible
Chocolate Voice!
@Heather Fell would love to hear about your transition from pentathlon to triathlon
It took many years, cycling came first.
Of course Heather "Fell" was going to win this race ;)
Did you measure the horses power with a foot pod? That would be interesting to compare the two!
There's a video for the future ;)
Were those GTN issue jodphurs? I thnk they made all the difference
welcome to my county
Did she changed her helmet during the ride? @14:20 she has a Gopro-Helmet.
Next one, Mark vs a rally car? 🤪

What trailers did Mark wear for the challenge?
The On Cloudventure Peak.

Which ON trainer would you recommend for triathlon training so a bit of everything including long runs.
Franklee there was only one winner
If tried that on my horse he would cough then limp a bit and report me to the horse welfare !!!
A man would win a 100 mi race.
I'd agree, hence why I made it a competitive route.
