    Fantastic video! Now I need to do the same to my Wahuda benchtop jointer. Otherwise it has been collecting dust while I use my table saw for edge jointing and a planer sled for face jointing. Thanks for sharing your solution!

    Fantastic & simple idea! I'll be doing the same on my jointer now. And with helpful videos like this, you've got yourself a new subscriber. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

    Thank you very much! Easy add-on that makes a difference with longer stock. I haven’t been using the pull out extensions for the reasons shown. This changes that!

    ANOTHER great video.. you really do think out of the box to solve these small but annoying issues. This small project is now on my "to do" for my Cutech 10" - Larry

    Brilliant! This will also work on my Wahuda jointer AND planer which have the same extensions, though I've found that they aren't bad in themselves. As far as I know, only Cutech & Wahuda use these slide-out extensions.

      @jkmwoodworking  Год назад

      Thanks! I agree, it should also work on the Wahuda. I had a WEN that also had the same pull out extensions, and I think there are some other brands that are all basically the same jointer (made by the same manufacturer), just sold under different brands.

    Good idea, im looking for something. Id like to get rid of the extension and bolt cast iron bed extensions on if i can ever find appropriately sizes ones.... fyi, the cutcech extension bars are adjustable, so you didnt need the tape shims. I believe theres two allen bolts (one plastic) on each side to adjust the height and make planar. I believe they're on cams

    What a simple, easy fix! Then if you have longer wood, you could use those roller supports on bot ends to handle the bend in the boards. 👍👍👍

    Excellent idea. I had an issue with a long board that had a face bow. As I fed it through the Cutech 10-inch jointer, I failed to notice that the board bow followed the short infeed bed and caused unevenness. Your solution should help me in the future. Thanks for this video.

    Do you think with the upgrades you could do 7ft boards maybe with outfeed rollers?

    • @jkmwoodworking
      @jkmwoodworking  Месяц назад

      I think it would do 7 ft boards. The longest I've done with it is about 66 inches.

    The table extensions are a simple and brilliant idea. I'm thinking of getting this jointer however I have limited space for the depth of the machine. If you get a chance and have the time could you measure from the back of the planer with the fence pushed all the way back, to the front of the planer and let me know the depth. In other words, how deep the bench needs to be if the planer is against a wall at the back. Thank you.

    • @jkmwoodworking
      @jkmwoodworking  Год назад +3

      Thanks! I measured, and it is about 22" from the front edge of the feet of the machine to the back of the extended fence bracket when the fence is all the way in the back position. The fence bracket sticks about 8" off the back (included in the 22"). Note that I have the 10" planer. Hope that is helpful.

      Thanks! Yes, I really like the jointer, it is a Cutech 10" with a cast iron top. Really nice! It works on 110, also all that I have available in my shop. Thanks so much for your great comments on my videos!

    Very very clever! I had almost decided not to buy the 12" Cutech due to the short bed but now that I've found your video, maybe I will go ahead! I have a large 8" jointer but I often need to flatten wider boards. Have you come across any issues with your melamine beds?

    • @jkmwoodworking
      @jkmwoodworking  Год назад

      Thanks! The melamine bed extensions have been holding up great, no problems at all.

    How either an edge jointed or surface (face) jointed board is supported beyond the beginning of the outfeed table is not as important as applying even, downward pressure on the outfeed cast iron just after the wood leaves the cutters. Of course if you don’t have some kind of support for longer pieces of wood, it would be hard to apply that pressure. If you apply downward pressure on the infeed side, you’ll bow the wood. Same thing if you apply downward pressure on the outfeed side that’s not in the plane of the cast iron just after the cutter.

    Nice router table. I bought one (Bosch) that doesn't have a knob to control the height. Do you have a link to yours?

    • @jkmwoodworking
      @jkmwoodworking  Год назад +1

      Thanks! I made the table as part of my workbench, and used a Kreg router lift that has the height adjustment. I just now added a link in the description of the video to the router lift.

    How long of a board does this let you run through joiner? Looking at 10” wahuda which is basically same as Cutech.

    • @jkmwoodworking
      @jkmwoodworking  Год назад +1

      With the extensions the total bed length is 54”. Some say you can joint a board 2x the bed length, so longer than 8 ft, but I don’t know if that would be feasible. The longest I’ve done on this jointer is just over 6’
