I was 5 then, 51 now. So much time has passed. Some of these names have gone, others are still with us. My parents were in their 30s, still somewhat new to this country, and entertainment was their gateway to becoming Americans.
This time is around the darkest times of my life when I was 12 and I had to move to Western New York from my life on Long Island and I totally didn’t get the culture and the people where I lived. I do remember around this time that Jerry Rafferty song right down the line was always on the radio, which actually gives me great comfort when I hear that song
Aug '78 - I was about to start my Freshman year at Ohio State - a little bit nervous and excited at the same time! ! Thanks, Fred, for another great one!
Another episode hit right out of the park Fred. Wishing you and your subscribers the very best in 2025 and I'm sure we'll all be right here waiting for even more new content! - Bob (Toronto, Canada)
You know, this is one of the certain times I know where I was and what I was doing. The first 2 weeks of August 1978 I was home on leave from boot camp. The second two weeks of the month I was in San Diego starting A school. USN
I hope that you had a great Christmas FF! I feasted on FF re-runs for the past week. 77-78-79 were memorable years for me. Nice to relive them in a small way. Thanks
This is the best YT channel by far. I was 6 this year, my brother was 8 and my parents had been divorced for 5 years already. They are both here thankfully. Life without the internet meant you had to think things through and figure things out by yourself. Thank you Fred Flix for reminding me of this time.
The movie Animal House came out the summer of 78, it had a profound impact on my first year at college, Toga parties, and references to that movie. I am surprised I didn't see it in your collection.
Oh wow I completely forgot about the movie "The Driver", Ryan didn't even have a name in it lol he was simply billed as the driver. Thank you Fred for bringing back some awesome memories and kudo's for the musical choices
I remember my brother and I went to The Hi-Way Drive-in Limerick,PA and we saw The Driver and W.W. and the Dixie Dance Kings. I definitely remember Karl Malden being the spokesman for American Express. Those stand out in my mind. Too bad we don't have a lot of Drive-In movie theaters anymore.
Oh yeah started 4th grade during this time. It's the "junior year" of elementary school lol. So close to middle school but still oh so far away lol. Thanks again Fred. Hope you had a great Christmas.
What an in-Fred-ible treat today, a double shot of Fred! Michael Keaton cut his teeth on Mary Tyler Moore’s short lived variety show. Frankie Valli’s big comeback, Olivia Newton John Travolta, Dolly was doubly blessed. The entertainers, and one my favorite eras in music for this 20 year old. Pass the Dramamine.
Glad you included The Eyes of Laura Mars !! Great song by the Michael Zager band in the movie... ( Let's all chant ). Takes you right back.... Look for the long version
It's always great to hear Ernie "Ghoulardi" Anderson doing the voiceovers for ABC....and thanks for using the album version of "Life's Been Good" instead of the abbreviated single/AM radio version.
Some great movies Fred. Saw all of them in the theater. Tommy Lee Jones was a newcomer in The Eyes of Laura Mars. Who'll Stop The Rain was a movie I went to great lengths to see. I rode on my 10 speed bike along the interstate, and several county highways, for about 10 miles to see it. I was in spectacular shape at 17. Not so much any more.
I remember Jessica Savitch. She died young. 1978 was the year I went back to college. If I'm not mistaken, James Cameron got his start on Piranha. Thanks Fred.
Attended my first professional baseball game. It was the first game of a twilight doubleheader between Cleveland and Boston, then enjoying a 14-game lead in the AL East. Who would have expected a total collapse by the Sox?
Great time for me 😀 going to start my senior year in highschool next month 🎉 and only have the first semester to finish up then the real world hit me in the face 😊
I was 17 and 1978 I had the seventies experienced in full color an inhaled most of it😮😂😅 an I guarantee I either forgot or haven't seen a lot of this since '78 😵💫
I remember that 1978 especially around this time when NBC was revealing all their new shows that every single one was a bomb. I think maybe a couple escaped to the second season like hello Larry but I think this was when Silverman had silver had supertrain a real turkey of a show.
I was 15. We had lived below Miami FL and returned to Western North Carolina, Macon county. In 7 grade I had witnessed a rape. I was not the only one. A women in high school office was the sister of the man. She would not let me pass, she kept failing me. I eventually dropped out. But went back and sat in class so I could learn. The teachers taught me all the colledge they could remember. I kept going back to school learning everything the school offered until me dad ran me out of the state when I was 19. He was going to burn the house for insurance money.
ABC's 20/20 had such high ideals when they started, covering truly important stories...and ended up in the mid-'80s covering such burning questions as "Is Pro Wrestling Fake?" with John Stossel getting slapped upside his head by wrestler "Dr. D" David Schultz. Oh well, Happy New Year Fred. Or, at least as happy as possible.
Mary Tyler Moore’s failed attempt at variety is notable because so many great supporting players were on the show, including Michael Keaton and a young David Letterman, how could a show fail with that?
I absolutely love this series. Well edited with music magazine clippings. I was 20 years old in 1979 boy do these bring back memories
Thanks, RR.

1978 Back in the days when all Magazines were popular and we all read articles, 2024 today no one reads not even a book anymore😟
Used to read a lot good luck finding a book store now thanks for that keen insight
Ahhhh, the good old days!!!!!! Love to Linda Ronstadt in her pink outfit on the cover .......Happy New Year everyone!
Great show Fred, thank you! 17 years old and the start of my senior year... I'd give anything to go back and relive that one year.
As would I, Doug.
Awesome times back then being a kid

I missed the videos the last couple of days. Then I thought to myself Fred needs a vacation too. Thanks for a wonderful year of memories.😊
Yes, I took a few days off, Jan. But today and tomorrow I'm making up for it.
I hope that you had a great Christmas FF! I feasted on FF re-runs for the past week. 77-78-79 were memorable years for me. Nice to relive them in a small way. Thanks

Very nice clips again loved watching.

A year since the passing of Elvis Presley. Forever the KING. 👑
Thanks, FredFlix.
You're welcome, Luis.
Another great memory aid lol! I sure miss those days, Fred.
thank you so much as always for another great trip down memory lane ❤❤❤
You're welcome, Domenick.
Oh wow I completely forgot about the movie "The Driver", Ryan didn't even have a name in it lol he was simply billed as the driver. Thank you Fred for bringing back some awesome memories and kudo's for the musical choices
Thanks, Bridget. It seemed like Ryan slept through that role but maybe that was his character.
@@FredFlix yeah not one of his best roles for sure

You as well, S&D.
Well done as usual! Docked one star for "Grease" song, but two stars added for Joe Walsh. And RIP President Carter,
I'll settle for the two, CRT.
I like both.

I used it all, Dennis.
Pete Townshend and Keith Moon had appeared on Good Morning America to plug the Who Are You album in August. Moon was dead first week of September.
Back when The Tonight Show was funny.🤷♂️👍❣️
Jerry Lawler and Joe LeDuc at the Mid South Coliseum! Love it! Happy New Year from Memphis, Fred!
Same to you, PTB.

I was 18 and thought I knew everything lololololol. Thanks Fred.
Another two-fer! Thank you Fred. About to start my second year of college at that time.
Two more coming tomorrow, Tom.
Always smokey right even to this day these are some the great programs awesome tunes my friend thank you so much ❤❤❤ Fred
You're welcome, friend Brenda.
I was 9 years old, without a care in the world. Watched great TV and played Atari 2600 with my friends. Great times…I’d go back in a second.
Great video Fred 😍🎄
I turned 32 years old in 1978😊
Awesome 1978 clips ! Ann Margaret and Farrah 2 beautiful ladies! Kiss meets the phantom ! Rock on Fred ! 🤘. ⚡️space ace ron⚡️
Thanks, Ron.
1978....ahh... Boone's Farm or TJ Swann was my biggest question. Life was so simple then.

I could never have done that, Gregg.

I was 17 1/2 going on 18.
Hey, is that Michael Keaton at 0:39?
$18 tires.
I can't drive 55, 😂
I couldn't either, the ' double nickle' got me lot of high speed driving awards from smokey
I wrote those words on a school paper with that grade once. Bit it was 1986😂
Eyes of Laura Mars was the movie that launched Tommy Lee Jones career I think.
That ad seemed to lack the romantic thriller aspects that the ads with TLJ had. Also...Chucky
Why do you always feature the horror movies from that year ?
Most of us were late teens, twenties, loved the thrill of horror and sci fi
Nexttime gave my answer.
Mary Tyler Moore’s failed attempt at variety is notable because so many great supporting players were on the show, including Michael Keaton and a young David Letterman, how could a show fail with that?
I think in this day and age travelers checks are irrelevant. I haven’t needed them in age.
Wow, lots of Ernie Anderson voiceover work.
Piranha=JAWS ripoff...😄
