I think I’ve been practising with quiet mixed voice almost for a year now, because it is always connected. This video made me realise it. It has been a game changer.
Buzzy card is a great exercise, the buzz for me is effectively the mix, then just keep that configuration and sing into it, voila, mix voice with no effort. It's really frustrating trying to describe it in a message though and tell someone how to do it. People need to get their mindsets around the sound the Buzzy Voice is making and not let it go and really do not then push or try to over sing it when you do try and make a sound.
Yes agreed!!
Your take on the mixed voice feels exactly like what i've been looking to zero in on. Thanks for all the great tips you've made and put out there. My ultimate goal is to be able to sing Elton's _Someone Saved My Life Tonight_ in as strong of a mixed voice as he did (especially the high parts). His live performance in Edinburgh in 1976 is probably his strongest delivery of it.
You definitely have some of the best info on the mixed voice thank you so much this is extremely helpful
Absolutely! You are welcome.
I wish people would understand that it's a muscle and it takes time to develop in order to sing well. It's like going to the gym Mon-Fri. Then when you rest you get stronger. I been doing exercises for two years and I use to suck and now I can do vibrato an sing high. I couldn't do it before.
Yes!!!
Your lessons are like mini spiritual teachings. I 💝 it

Still don't understand how to make head voice position sound like chest voice, like you doing in this video.
I'm trying but getting this Bee Gees style sound.
Seems that there are two positions in the throat and they doesn't blend, I get this "pasagio effect" even on low notes
That is very common! I know exactly what you mean getting the Bee Gee effect. I will make a video on this in the future. You may want to try and add a bit of a sob feeling or a whimper, that could help counter the bee gee thing.
@@tylerwysong this is the same for me too. I just can’t differentiate between head voice notes I’m producing or whether I’m “mixing”
It feels to access “mix” sounding notes (like when I’m sing Chris Cornell) I still can feel I’m in head voice in a muscular sense. I don’t understand what I’m doing besides singing head voice loudly and aggressively with grit. Is that a mix? 😂
@@r7m It is very possible that it is. It’s of course hard for me to know for sure without hearing it though.
@@tylerwysong thanks for your reply! Do you do live lessons?
@@r7m Yes absolutely! I teach out here in Nashville, TN. In person if your in town or via Skype if your out of town.

hi from japan!
I've been practicing puffy cheek exercise, i'm not sure whether i'm doing it in right way, sometimes there is a rough or scratchy in my throat or when I'm doing it nothing happens in my throat just sliding low note to middle or high and I still don't know if I'm doing mixed voice correctd,
but i usually reach c5 or around b4, A4. i'm sure I can't put mixed voice to use in singing. also i still don't know if i'm doing falsetto or head voice in right way i can't tell them apart but in falsetto or head voice? i usually reach F5 or around C, D
and i understand that you sing in chest voice you feel vibration in your chest then you sing in falsetto or head voice you feel vibration in your head but I don't feel vibration in my head. Am i in wrong path?
in addition if you sing in mixed voice where do you feel vibration in your body?
if I sing in puffy cheek, a scratchy or rough thing should be in throat? after i feel a scratchy or rough thing in my throat
over practicing puffy cheek, i don't feel any sore in my throat. Am I in right path? or no? i'm gonna await you answer to these questions. and give me some advices that i can put into my practice!
i love your videos!
Don’t look for literal feelings of vibrations in your head. It’s actually an illusion or a perception/image of the voice going up to the head. Those vibrations are outside of our range of feeling. We become invisible to feeling at 1k. So listen for the sound of them as well as try to see the image of them with by our minds eye.
