I wanted to do this because some other people did and their versions are trash and don't even include the healing sound thingy between sections

I love how flowey's mocking "ow" turns into genuine screams of agony once he realizes that he's losing.
its like in horror movies where when they mock the killer like "Nice costume" till they realize that ax isnt a halloween prop and it just got lodged into their best friends forehead.

The fact that this song and it's entire soundtrack was made toby fox and his small team just amazes me. The sheer beauty of it is so compelling and uplifting.

For a game that is so unapologetically cutesy, flowey ends up being one of the starkest depictions of evil in gaming if you really think about his intentions and actions in this scene. He pretty much creates a hell for your character
And the weird part is that he isnt even a true monster anymore like some might believe that he is upon meeting him after he wrongs Frisk and go back to question the fact that all monsters are made out of love, hope and kindness, then why not Flowey?

@@squirlis1189 So basically, flowey is a flower from the field where asriel passed away, and after being injected with determination, he grew consciousness and the ability to save and reset, Eventually, after some unknown time of doing everything he could, he began to get bored and started killing monsters just to see what would happen, until frisk fell down and he had lost his ability to save and reset.

Flowey *is* Asriel. However, without a soul he can’t feel love, compassion, etc. So after a while, growing bored, he became how we see him in game

Someone who was his sibling, whose mind was twisted by the actions of Frisk as well as us, the player. He's scared that Chara might think of him as free Ex.P. He doesn't want to die. He wanted to destroy the world with Chara, as siblings without souls. Except Chara still had theirs. And despite him lacking one, fear is the only true emotion he's felt throughout the entire game.
Neutral ending seems like more of a triumph as soon as the souls start helping you, it feels like a fucking super metroid hyper beam moment

Especially the second part of final the first part is going from massive disadvantage to even ground and the second part is that even ground turning into a advantage and you pressing the advantage and are doing it hard.
Even all this time later, the opening with Flowey's laugh still sparks "LET'S FUCKIN GOOOOOOOOO" energy.

I love how the player character themselves actually steps forward without your input in this part of the game. Like Flowey actually made them angry enough for them to briefly move without you telling them what to do

Why am I just now noticing the remixed hints of the Amalgamate theme...which foreshadowed Flowey’s origin and connection to Alphys’ secret lab and experiments. I love the attention to detail that this 6 year old game adds to every nook and cranny

I'm a firm believer in the NarraChara theory, because I just really like the mental image of them floating behind Frisk, an unseen ghostly presence as always. But instead of their usual reserved narration, they are more than happy to yell at the top of their lungs "FLOWEY'S DEFENSE DROPPED TO ZERO!" to let Frisk know that now is a time to strike more than ever. It must have been a strange moment for them, cheering for humans and rooting against what they could assume to be a monster, but it wasn't about their own hatred and love anymore, it was about saving the world, human and monster alike.
And even though we never hear Frisk's voice, I believe with all my heart, that they, just like me when I first managed to fight back against him, yelled "I'M NOT AFRAID OF YOU!". What a masterpiece of a song.
sounds very much like children fighting when you put it like that, flowey (or we could view it as edgy asriel) role-playing as the bad guy with the full on intent to scare the two, charanarra and frisk, and getting very caught up in the feeling of the roleplay and their characters story (delving very strongly in imagination and as an escapism from reality, like a child). charanarra and frisk becoming much more confident once they find an opening to crack at floweys character and yelling about it in order to bring down flowey, just like children.
@@foamq This as well! A lot of UnderTale's themes are rooted in nostalgia, play, and childhood. Viewing it as a game among kids that got a little out of hand makes it all more personal, in a way. Good point!
I believe in the Nara Chara theory as well.
What I like to imagine is what Chara would think of Flowey once they realized that the amalgamation and timeline destroying beast in front of them…is their brother.
@jjcooldude9700 Maybe that's why when "ASRIEL DREEMURR" pops up right before his battle starts, the letters tremble and stutter. I can't quite remember if the narration immediately after says "It's the end.", or some other variant of that, but _man_ does that mental image of Chara literally shaking, as the pieces begin to fall into place, and they realise their brother and best friend did _all that_ hits hard.

It’s also possible the reason asriel gets the memories during the fight..is BECAUSE of Chara.
Frisk wouldn’t know it.
Nor would the player.
But..that’s just speculation.
It’s entirely possible Toby was just like “yeah I’ll have a cutscene and not imply anything else lmao.”
This is coming from the same guy who said he made Asriel fly because he “looked stupid standing there” and covered himself in foam for a Deltarune leak. 💀

He did use a Japanese text to characterize Chara,so who knows with this man.

I love how Flowey's laugh _is part of_ the song. Like, if it doesn't play, it's objectively wrong
One of the themes I really love about this song is the switches between happy upbeat tunes and harsh combat themes. It just really gives the feeling of rage and sorrow vs determination and hope

I love that the pleasant tunes that play during the soul fights feel off, for lack of a better description. It's like flowey's will is being imposed onto them, but they aren't down for it

I love the progression of the music, you can feel the easiest and the hardest status of the trouble you are in
5:25 this has to be the best part of the song for me, all of that hell you just endured and its like you've just achieved the ultimate power at your disposal as the souls surround you in a circle and they give you both life and encouragement as the Sonic boss battle music starts playing basically telling you that this is it, Flowey cant beat you and no one can, this is all you.

edit: after pirating the game I came to realise the fight is absurdly easy only taking 2 attempts and not that scary
I love the whole fight because it's intense because of some story stuff. You're basically fighting god, and are just simply trying to make it out alive. It's not just the music, the visuals are all very full of stimuli, and the sound effects are plentiful and fittingly intense.
When you go into the soul sections, tone shifts again. They all feel like another entity controlled by flowey. Also how the first few are handed off to with a siren sound effect making it feel like flowey's sending them at you, while the rest having a sound effect that I can only describe as fog clearing makes it feel as if they're trying to escape.
And ooohhh boy, The Finale. You're not frantically trying to not die in the same way now, that's for sure. It's now that you're taking this fight to them, serving them a year's supply of canned whoop-ass because of what they did. It's still frantic as hell, but hope is on your side.

This is probably common knowledge at this point, but I like how the soul attacks hint at the weapons you find throughout the game, implying that those weapons belonged to the other fallen humans. It's a neat little touch.

When you’re playing dodgeball and your team slowly gets taken out
Finale is at the peak of final boss themes, seriously it’s like my 3rd favorite final boss theme in gaming, no megalovania isn’t in that top 3
I'll be honest, I was struggling against Flowey at first, but the minute the song changed from Your Best Nightmare to Finale... This will sound corny, but I felt determined to continue onward and somehow managed to avoid just enough damage to survive and win.

Considering that this was our first final boss in undertale, we were incredibly surprised, you cant say that you werent or else youre lying. The look of omega flowey, the soundtrack, the battle itself, the context... It's just amazing. Not my favourite route but the best final boss by far. This still hits hard in fucking 2024
