I was a 3rd year theology student in Oct '79. I listened carefully to this talk by Dr. Ford. In time I became a Bible teacher for students between grades 7 - 12. The truth of Daniel 8:14 as Des Ford understood it haunted me throughout the entire 6 years as a Bible teacher. In time I had to let go. I could not go on teaching what I didn't believe. As a 4th generation SDA I gave up an awful lot by leaving the church. I cannot call myself a Seventh-day Adventist as long as the church's official position remains as outlined in the 28 Fundamental Beliefs. I loved the church and wish I still could.
I think this is the first time I've heard this again since my dad, brother, and I sat up in the balcony listening. What a day. There was a lot of tension in that room, and the whole campus for that matter. Just before the meeting I was taking a shower in the dorm after going for an afternoon hike. Someone I had never seen before also came in to the shower and started cursing me out for believing in Ellen White. I didn't respond as I had no idea who he was. And who could forget Cassell's fact-finding committees? I dare say they had about as much integrity as the fact checkers proffer today. Many thanks for posting this, Peter. This meeting was a pivotal point for me, but it took me decades before I acted on it. It's nice to see others commenting that were there as well. Greetings to fellow former PUCites! It would be wonderful to all get together and discuss it now. I praise God that He arranged for me to attend, and for all the others like Des who became lightning rods so the rest of us could start checking things out. What happened to the Q&A at the end? That's where it really got crazy. Does anyone have a recording of that? Des had a way of rephrasing someone's question to be quite unlike what they asked. This happened with a person seated on the right hand side of the auditorium about 2/3's of the way back. You could see it all from the balcony.
I love these memories! I wonder if we could get a few PUCite’s to join me for a discussion on this event. Those that were there!!! Are you interested? I’ll invite others on this thread to join too!! Oh and as far as I know the rest of the meeting wasn’t recorded (or isn’t available online). But if someone has a copy - let me know please!
It was Dez who helped confirm in my mind something was wrong with the sda doctrine. Walter Rea helped nail the coffin shut. My family was in deep in serving and pastoring and leadership. I was labeled the black sheep. Now back to Dez.
Hey Bev! My pleasure 🎉🎉 There is a rebuttal to this by Eric Symnes I believe. But no one can find it. But my understanding is that it was done on the same day right after Des.
Has anyone else been accepted to have the same gift since Ellen? And why not? Seems at 1 time Ellen was acceptable to another one then she had a vision and said such person did not have the gift. Maybe because visions became opposed to Ellen's direction. So why do the sda not allow the other gifts to manifest in the organization
Only God allows things to happen with us. It was God that gave Ellen what He gave her and perhaps others as well. Only they or we know. The closer you get to God the more apt He is to bless you. If we are like His son Jesus that is when we are given such gifts. Amen.
It was that even the Methodist church that Ellen attended did not want to listen to her about one of the Ten Commandments. That is what they are COMMANDMENTS!
Ford was an “Ellenist.” So devoted to a false prophet that he named his daughter Ellen. Ford was a fool who joined a religious doomsday cult because he could not stop shoving pie into his face, and reading cheap novels. That’s his testimony.
No one ever needed a word from trance medium Ellen White. God was not teaching Ellen White through visions. Prophets were not taught lessons- prophets simply served as a messenger of God.
Thanks for sharing!
Loved the photos… nice touch
I love hearing him spill his soul like this. Such a wonderful man

I have some family members I would love to share this with.

Thank you Peter for putting this out. We had the tape at some point. Grateful to hear it again. Was there another one as well?

When Adventism is examined it collapses into a pile of absurdities. Ellen lived her entire pathetic life fearful she would be exposed.
There is no heavenly sanctuary. Read the text. Jesus entered into heaven itself- not an imaginary building in heaven.
There is nothing to admire about the disgusting Adventist demonic cult. The evil entity dispatches people to eternal hell as heretics and blasphemers.
Did Dr. Ford maintain his rather high, within good sense, view of EGW 'till his death?
I’m pretty sure he did. I think he mentions her in this video ruclips.net/video/Yk0x07nF9VY/видео.htmlsi=F10PPH7sCsTMx4I_
