I've Taken a Insane Long Time to hear Both Sides, Galfond is Simply Wrong This is The Real World and Doug has a Right to Call Out Scammers and Just Keep Doing You Doug . . . 😎
JNandez really impressed me here. He was very balanced in his approach to the conversation. It was a small part of the space, but the most impactful imo. You can tell these two really respect each other and that is where progress is found. Good Luck!
Completely agree. JNandez earner my respect having only heard of him in suspicious light. Sounds like a well balanced man, open and willing to forgive if Doug is willing to do the same.
He did a great podcast with Berkey, where he set out in detail the background. The more I hear from JNandez, the easier it is to see what a keyunt Doug is. His argument in this session that his business partner made a mistake and that his lawyers got it wrong speaks volumes. If you surround yourself with idiots, you are the idiot.
@@ML-sj3gi no, I heard multiple RUclipsrs mention him being part of some/this drama. Now I have better context and understand a lot more having heard from him. I think DN made salient points about Doug and others have elaborated. A little more humility and change could go a long way. I think Doug is a little caught up in his own RUclips success. It’s a bit heavy with the tabloid news at times, which obviously worked. And I like that Matt ask him directly if that meant he’d change going forward. But I’m glad to see Doug’s opened up space for those who he’s misrepresented or maligned for clicks. Hopefully a lot of people learn from this, particularly Doug. With power comes responsibility. I appreciate story after story being clarified from various sides.
@@blinkifyouhearme All I learned from this is Doug is not capable or changing. He doesn't even understand what is going on. For example, he thinks him being called out for being an arsehole is the same as him posting harmful videos about others.
The part where doug described how he instinctively fights back and fernando sounded really reasonable, and collected. It was clear when he understood where Doug came from, he showed grace.
Doug. You are finally in a place where you have the ability to fight back, now that means you don't have to. You had some amazing introspection today and I think if you listen to this again in a few days you will grow again. Wonderful to see ❤
Doug, thank you for everything you've done for the poker community.. I've been throwing my dongers up with you since the WCG Rider days and want to you know that there's a bunch of people who support you. We love you for you, Doug. Cheers m8
berkey should compare their Yt channels and training sites before saying that lmao. People obviously like doug, and at a much higher clip than they like berkey
He will regret that statement in the future for coming across childish, he has been bullied for that long and by a bunch of people you can lose control when you feel like it’s your turn to get some back
Poor choice or words from Berkey I think..also , whatever Doug says to him,Berkey just dismisses it like it's invalid ..very hard to have a balanced debate with him
My main takeaway from this is the importance of allowing those who feel slighted the opportunity to provide their pov and greater context. Doug has the luxury of challenging Phil's article immediately, whereas it must be incredibly frustrating for those who are shouting into a void... just an actionable consideration for future content
Seriously! If Matt was trying to prove a point, it must have been that he is a jealous dic% and now everyone knows. Doug did amazing with his responses
The convo with Daniel leading into the convo w/ Lucky Chewy really hits home. This community is a bunch of misfits, a lot of us have been here since the 2+2 days to not only talk strat and tell our war stories. But to learn to get better at the game we love. Following WCGriders journey has been nothing short of amazing, whether its talking strat on 2+2, virtual railing him on Stars or watching MTT twitch streams really has shaped the player I’ am today. Phil’s article made some valid points, but to have the opinion that a majority of the poker community dislikes Doug because of some Twitter reply’s to Phil’s thread, agreeing with him, couldn’t be further from the truth. Anyway this comment is already too long, hang in there brother this to shall pass, look forward to see you continue to crush at life and poker.
As a big fan and a big supporter, I would say three things. 1. If there is one criticism, it’s that you tend to kick people once they’re down, or find it hard to let things go. With stuff like Alex Torreli, Charlie Carel, you can take them down and have a go at them, but then give them some space. Calling people out is one thing, but if you keep hitting them over and over again it becomes cruel. 2. People forget that the Poker industry is / was very corrupt. You used to have a lot of poker influencers taking money from poker sites even though the deals on offer was bad, and they were being very dishonest with their fans. We needed people like yourself to pop the bubble of the Poker Elite. 3. Thirdly despite the drama, your best videos are by far the ‘Polker Hands’. I know you hate making them, but they are the best out there! The most inciteful and logical analysis on poker hands out there. Finally, I think with people like Berkey and Torelli you think they offer terrible products, but then you look for other ways to destroy them. You don’t need to go after Torelli for the chip hiding, or Berkey for pontificating, but you can still take down their products with a bit more of a gentle hand and some humour but without stomping them too much!
I think that while I appreciate your opinion, as someone that has watched nearly every video for 5+ years to say he continues to kick people while they're down is a bit disingenuous with the exception being Carell. Torelli has a large platform and can respond and has done so. Same with Berkey. And, if we are being honest, out of hundreds of videos Doug might have a handful targeting their actions or how terrible their products are, but here's the thing - it's an opinion. He's allowed to make those comments. Just as they also are allowed to respond or call out Doug, which they both have done. Could Doug possibly do a better job? Sure, we all can strive to be better. And I think in his effort to be better he opened up his platform to his 4+ hour conversation where he heard and took criticism and apologized when he admitted going too far.
Yes, Daniel was pretty sound, I was very impressed with how he had taken Doug's ragging on the chin, and wasn't bitching about any of that. But, like the previous wet blanket, passive aggressive wanker, he was trying to bring I a bit of the snowflake bullshit "you.cant say nasty things, people might get hurty feelings" rubbish
I think its a bit messed up certain big egos in poker are trying to group their grievances against Doug in with something as serious as the Charlie situation If Berkey for instance thinks Dougs content with him is part of the same problem he's delusional. Doug was 100% right to walk back the Charlie thing - it is bad its this late Then JNandez situation is clearly very bitter and complicated, both a personal and business dispute that got out of hand But people in the space want us to feel bad for like Torelli and Berkey over Dougs content on them. P'ss off
This is bang on. This is where this forum just missed the mark. It created a space where everything got lumped together and the nuances were lost. Berks completely lost the plot at one point. Despite making some legitimate points that I agreed with a lot of what he said was totally unhinged. I also think it’s really inappropriate how Phil involved himself in all of this with his own hit piece. He may not think it’s relevant that he owns a competing training site but it obviously is. The whole “trust me bro” defense was ludicrous, he’s very clearly in his own bubble and making it seem like his opinion is objective truth. Didn’t expect to come away from this losing so much respect for Phil.
@@dkizxpt-su3zeDoug's argument literally boils down to: "I go out walking HUNDREDS of nights, and I see vulnerable people a lot on those walks, yet the 20 or 30 times I happen to murder a prostitute on those walks, THOSE are all that people like you want to talk about. First of all, all those prostitutes were breaking the law, and some of them are even really bad by stealing from Johns. It's SOOO hypocritical of anyone to ever talk avout those women I murder unless they use this very specific language that dowbplays what I've done wrong and highlights how the prostitutes were really the ones doing the most bad." What a fucking loser.
Doug, don't ever change.. Your content is hilarious, poignant, and often insightful and revealing. Phil is not totally wrong, but in the world of high stakes and fierce competition, NFL, F1, poker, MMA.... if one is gonna dish it out... they better be ready to take it. If one is gonna posture one way and be another, they get called out. Doug is great at what he does, we need a transparent mirror on the world of poker. Doug ain't always right... but he's right often enough.
I AGREE 100%. Doug’s “the most powerful voice” for a reason!- he’s genuine and tells it like it is. Very rarely he gets it wrong because no one is perfect. Doug’s loyalties are to himself, his audience, and the game of poker. They expose themselves when they tell Doug “he isn’t part of the inner circle”. They know Doug has the biggest platform in poker and is the one who isn’t afraid to call others out and shine a negative light on them. It’s like they’re all preemptively trying to turn the poker world against him knowing that if/when THEY fuck up- Doug will be the one with the balls and the platform to put them under a microscope. This Phil guy is a fucking lying snake. He 100% is motivated by trying to do Doug damage. He doesn’t normally speak out but the one time he decides to weigh in he writes a one sided misleading hit piece on Doug his #1 competition? GTFO!
I'm impressed Doug. This is definitely the first time I've watched a RUclips video almost 5 hours long haha. I've watched ALL of your videos and especially enjoyed the WCG | Rider days. The video with "throw your fing dongers up" had me in literal tears. I still would like to see a refresh of that =).
allowing yourself to open up and be vulnerable is the most refreshing, illuminating, and fascinating "content" I've ever heard from you. I wouldn't call myself a big Negreanu fan but I think his input comes from a genuine, caring place, and mirrors a lot of my own thoughts. you're a good dude and have proven your worth and credibility and don't need to chase/create sensational content to entertain all of us.
I like Daniel but he is brutally beta. The moment the scandal happened with the woman, and removing chips and shady behavior and one of the guys was her coach and all this other crap, before even hearing a single word from him I knew that he would side with the woman It's obviously something happened It just can't be proven be on a reasonable doubt and a court of law
Stay true to yourself Doug - you can't keep everyone happy - I would much rather have you say what you think rather than sugar coat everything to keep everyone happy. This is the poker world where we are all trying to get better at taking other people's money - people need thicker skin in this arena or go do something better with their time - you have built a great following because people enjoy your content. I suspect I am not the only one who thinks you do a fantastic job. I can't think of anyone in poker that enjoy listening to more. Too many people needing a wambulance if you ask me.
Yep, too many soy boys crying they are all soft and voted for Biden....I'd have sympathy for Doug but he is also a lib Joe supporter. Still got Doug's back though, but these are your typical leftwingers - people who u thought were your friends or good ppl that are just hypocrites and backstabbers
Seriously. Doug actually tried to end the whole thing by saying that he "just needed to speak his truth" about the way he saw the article, once he was backed into a corner and realized he couldn't spin it to mame himself look good by pretending to feel sorry for some minor transgressions at the edges of what he's done. It's insane. His argument literally boils down to: "I go out walking HUNDREDS of nights, and I see vulnerable people a lot on those walks, yet the 20 or 30 times I happen to murder a prostitute on those walks, THOSE are all that people like you want to talk about. First of all, all those prostitutes were breaking the law, and some of them are even really bad by stealing from Johns. It's SOOO hypocritical of anyone to ever talk avout those women I murder unless they use this very specific language that dowbplays what I've done wrong and highlights how the prostitutes were really the ones doing the most bad. And also, when I was a kid people were mean to me so whatever I do now is fine." What a fucking loser.
@dougpolk hey Doug, it took a lot of courage to do this. It’s hard to just let people pile on for that long of a time. I thought Daniel had the most positive impact on you. I think he really cares about you and says things in a respectful way. Keep up the good work and I think you will grow and take some good things away from this going forward. I’m always looking forward to your content and proud of you for being willing to admit where you can improve.
I agree. But if I may, Doug, I don’t think you recognize the situation you are now in. Please please please continue what you’re doing with humility and gratitude. You have a ton of valuable and hard experiences to share. And this true for each of the people who have spoken with you in this. ❤️ ❤❤
The back and forward with Daniel was by far the best. Daniel went from getting schooled by doug at heads up to schooling him about life. It's a fair trade. Hopefully both learned something (although that kinda happens by default)
This was great to listen to. Having said that never stop bringing your own perspective to issues you feel need addressing, even if it means hurting a few feelings along the way. Voices like yours and Ingram are sorely needed in the poker community.
Berkey is loving life right now lol. Hes up almost a million in the heads up challenge and poker players are going at Doug defending him. He must of woke up very happy today.
@@Woody13woodpecker agree but I don't see Berkey doing much more heads up challenges. I think he knew he only took this challenge because it's Airball.
Wow, 1:47:00 in they had a breakthrough. Daniel called out Doug’s fault of needing to be liked. And Doug’s story of moving and being picked on his whole life confirmed it. A real Good Will Hunting moment. “It’s not your fault”
Doug. From one Doug to another. I think a lot of these people care about you (and the community) and want to help you improve as a person and want to represent folks who don’t have a voice. I’m impressed with how eloquent, courteous and frankly patient people have been with conveying how they feel and how a part of the population they are representing feel. It’s almost like an intervention. I think you’d be better suited spending more energy listening to understand, not listening to respond. Your content is great. You’re hilarious, intelligent, good at what you do. I wish for you to take this moment to show a large population how to respond positively to feedback, self reflect and improve. You can do this while maintaining the theme and quality of your videos and without deviating from who you are. Just a little more empathy. We all could use it. Keep up the good work! I appreciate what you do. Doug
...and try to create an environment where they can continue to be cunts, but 'nobody can take the piss, because some snowflake bedwetter might get hurty feelings"
Doug is very skilled at misdirecting, straw-manning and instigating frustration in people by not acknowledging their concerns. I can understand why burkey dislikes doug so much. It's unfortunate that he was unable to step away from the conversation before he boiled over, but it seems to me he's spot on in his criticisms. I think the reason why the conversation with Daniel had a feel-good end to it has a lot more to do with Daniel's skill in navigating conversation with disingenuous people and sidestepping semantical traps.
@Valtteri Lehtonen Drop the mic. This is so true and it seems like playing NLHU online can be a lonely grind. It's you against the world mentality and being an introvert, probably picked on as a kid and not super athletic, brings in some demons. I had a previous friend with the same issue and he would instinctively lash out or attack people in a similar way. Doug just does it for the money now...
Its hard to see things from every perspective. I think its great that you wanna discuss the problems that content creation can have for the people who gets covered because its the morality of being a person in power.
@@DougPolkPoker 4:23:30 is basically the best thing you could have said. Galfond acting like hes standing up for people by releasing what to him must have seemed like the least controversial hit piece ever. Just pilling on to the hate
Well done Doug. You say it like it is which is what we like about you. If it was not for your channel we would not know much of what is happening in the poker world. Keep up the good work!
@No Name Given To hundreds of thousands of people and then having those same people mock you relentlessly afterward? If you think you'd be fine with that you're a self delusional clown.
@@NoNameGiven-dw3cu I know, right? Doug is such a little bitch about it. He's constantly spazzing out at people who made him feel bad about himself. It isn't everyone else's fault that there's so much to legitimately make fun of with Doug Polk.
I believe Phil blew things out of proportion. One, with the sole exception of the Charlie Carrel situation, many of the people Doug went after were involved in some shenanigans or opened themselves up to valid criticism. Two, I think most people understand that most of this is in the context of funny RUclips videos.
You can only ever present the news honestly to your perspective, how people take that is out of your control. Keep doing your thing Doug, don’t let people like Berkey and Galfond that don’t have your best interest at heart change who you are.
The thing is he calls out in some or many cases legitimate issues but then he digs in deeper into the persons character and he keeps at it for weeks at a time. It seems like it often goes beyond the original accusation. Doug is very smart and entertaining so it gets clicks but at the same time it does seem over board.
Doug: The adjective, "tough," in tough conversation is spot on. It's good that you were open to hear everyone. And remember: All publicity is good publicity! One other thought: If you're a social media star, or any media star (that includes Negreanu, at least in the poker world, when Polk's RUclips videos were produced about the "more rake is better), you have to expect that some people will attack you. Your business will not suffer. If anything, BOTH your coaching business and Galfond's coaching business might INCREASE, especially given the number of times your business names were mentioned in this video and others.
The Doug & JNandez conversation was really good. Nandez seemed to handle the convo (along with Doug) well, and it came to a point where they hashed it out. Nandez left with a deep quote and taking down a video....TwitterSpace FTW.
Hi Doug - long time fan here. Your free videos helped me dramatically improve my game and have kept me informed about stuff going on in the poker world for years. You have provided a TON of valuable, positive content for FREE to thousands and thousands of people. You've also "called out" many instances of unethical behavior, which in many cases needed to be done. So I don't think that should get lost in all this. Your body of work is top notch. That said, it's pretty clear you've gotten a little too wrapped up in the personal dramas and, at times, taken things too far with various feuds and debates. I'd recommend posting an article or doing a recorded video where you address the ones you agree deserve an apology in your own words. I know you've said you're sorry at various times in conversations, but perhaps a more direct (and concise) piece would be more helpful. You can be well liked/respected/embraced among most high stakes poker players OR you can be a commentator on the community and mix it up with controversial subjects and take the bold stances that are going to lead to higher views. I'm not sure it's possible to do both, unfortunately. I think the question is: What do you want your role to be? Are you primarily a poker journalist/reporter (I don't think so)? An analyst? A commentator? Maybe there is a successful figure in the sports entertainment world (ESPN, FoxSports, etc) that you could use as a model for how to walk that line between objective analysis and commentary. Of course, the ones who are brutally honest about what they think tend to make enemies. You have a unique mix of elite poker skills with communications skills and a sense of humor. You also seem like a genuinely good guy who cares a lot about the game and the people involved in high stakes/professional poker. I'm a big fan and look forward to seeing how your channel evolves. Cheers.
"controversial subjects and take the bold stances" You can still report drama and get high views, you just can't make up the drama, which is what Doug does sometimes.
@@ML-sj3gi"I've gone on thousands of walls at night, during which I always see vulnerable people. YOU'RE NOT BEING FAIR AND BALANCED IN YOUR REPORTING ON MY MORALITY! Plus, some of those prostitutes weren't good people and stole from their Johns and ALL of them were technically doing something illegal! Ipso facto, no criticism of my actions is valid unless you use the exact wording that de-empgasizes what an awful person I am am."
This is the first I'm been exposed to pretty much all of these dramas, so I'm not too clued up on the depth of context behind them all.. But you gotta give Doug some credit for the fact he basically opened the flood gates for a 5hr long verbal gang bang from everyone that has some dislike for him lol. That takes some balls
People subscribe to you because of your brand, Doug. That consists of comedy, honesty, and at the end of the day, your take on things you deem relevant. If people behaving badly are offended because you call them out on it, then maybe they should clean their own house first. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. We support you for what you do for us on the daily, Doug.
Had to come back to this after seeing the royal rumble on X between Berkey and Negreanu over the past few days. Doug even entered the thread with just one comment clearly illustrating his amusement with the situation 😂
I watched 0 poker videos until I found your content and your videos are so entertaining I come back to watch more. I dont even know who most of the people on the call aside from you and Daniel are, so whatever you're doing is right, keep it up !
I have watched you for years, Doug. I completely agree with your point that 90% of the time you made fun of someone because you believed they had done something wrong. And in most cases, I entirely agreed with your assessment. Poker is a gambling sport where there are so many potential angles and unethical behaviours. You were simply calling people out for their terrible/unethical actions.
lmao u can definitely tell Doug is trying to hold back and be nice when Berkey starts talking trash. Then Doug just lets go and lets it out and totally destroys Berkey.
I love your take on what the audience wants to see on your channel, and the audience decides what you actually create in content. The views are what make you feel good about what you post and create as a creator. And, I get Daniels take, but you don’t have to feed in to the negative aspects.
How awesome was all of this? I came out respecting everyone involved more--honest live conversation where enemies still are able to speak to each other -amazing
I have not stopped listening. I usually get bored because of my ADHD. I loved every minute. So genuine and honest and uplifting. Except for Berkey, he’s a debbie downer… 😂
In my humble opinion: there were sections of this conversation where I felt you legitimately had some realizations and epiphanies (particularly with JNandez)................but there were also moments where you kind of made defensive circular arguments and were a bit intransigent (particularly in some of your discussion with Berkey and Deeb). So the upshot (Hah!) of this all..................the main takeaways of this conversation................is that you have a strong sense of self as I've always respected and commended you for.................but because stubbornness tends to come with that territory, it remains to be seen how much self-reflection will actually take place from here on out. Time will tell. I do find it admirable you've willingly faced the music and held this conversation, it truly does say something.

Yeah, the fact that people think they have to d-ride for one or the other shows how people just lack critical thought and nuance. If you're 100% one guy and 0% the other then you're an easily manipulated tool.
There was so much emotion and honesty here I’m fkn exhausted ! Props to everyone who took part , it was mature and most importantly ballsy . This way of dealing with beefs is the way to go rather than slighting someone then ignoring them next time which is immature tbh. I didn’t know about some of the videos and posts which Doug had done in the past which are quite clearly bullying and hearing the testimony from some of the victims involved don’t paint Doug in a good light tbh ….. but !!!! It took HUGE balls to host this twitter space and hear all this shit about yourself and still be able to remain mainly relaxed and listen to the testimonies with an empathetic ear. I note Doug reflected on some of his poor decisions and admitted he could’ve done things for the wrong reasons and stated HIS reasoning which was refreshing . I listened to the whole 5 hours and it was a difficult but entertaining programme, but my thinking at the end was that a fresh wind had blown through a smoky, hazy ,poker room and hopefully this will be a fresh restart for everyone in the community now that all the dirty washing has been aired . I hope so as I love Dougs content . 👍🏴

After being "weak and powerless", if/when one becomes strong and powerful enough to be able to defend themselves, they also now possess the ability to attack, and it would take much reflection to maintain that differentiation. The counterpunch is only such if one is being attacked, and that determination is largely subjective. This seems a necessary process in growth, and I commend Doug for hearing the other characters involved. This was a good listen, and I've been a Doug fan for a long time, which hasn't changed. I did feel that at times, I came away from watching a Polker video from him which made me uncomfortable. This talk will land for all parties, as it does, and I believe it to be growth provoking; albeit non-linearly. Thanks for this.
Berkey and Galfond will virtue signal about ethics and not doing harm to people on one hand and then on the other straight up yell "nobody likes you" and say "you're a cruel person" lol. I think this is the first RUclips comment I've ever made in my life but I just wanted to say keep your head up Doug - you have plenty of fans out here.
Doug has been doing this kind of stuff for years. Loved the old Doug, but somewhere he started seeing how hype=views=money and went down another path. Galfond has always been a straight shooter. RIP Doyle!
For those who don't wanna watch the whole thing, here are some cliff notes: - Doug goes over the line sometimes, he needs to tone his hit pieces back a bit when it comes to hyperbole (Charlie Carrel incidence) - Torelli and Berkey's issues are really non-important/a big waste of time to listen to - Phil's piece has some good points, Doug cared too much about the semantics - Overall, the poker community is just a bunch of manchilds and outcasts, so what do we expect?
Wow. Doug, I have always felt you're a relatable guy who if I met on the street would be fun to be around. I didn't realize part of that is because we share a history of being bullied as kids. As an adult I've realized that I have a hair trigger whenever I sense bullying and that at times my senses aren't always 100% accurate. Like you if I say something and someone has an issue with it, I'll always address them. I think what some may not appreciate about you is that, right or wrong, if someone has an issue with you, you will always seek to address it with them directly. Most people don't do that and I think that's very commendable. I'm going to continue to support your content not because you're 100% right all of the time and don't make your own mistakes. I'm going to continue to support your content because you're funny, you have good takes, and you can admit to being human. We need more, not less of that. I would just say, your experience being bullied can color how you see certain situations and just be careful for yourself around that. Thanks for always keeping it real!
I've never once seen Doug as a bully. Even regarding the times he has "gone after people", every single instance was in response to a charged personal-attack or outright insult (towards Doug). A personal-attack in response to what was in essence a thought out criticism (by Doug). Aka, journalism. *The Charlie incident may be the only exception to this rule.* But even then, all Doug said in response to Charlies tweet was *"what" (verbatim)* and Charlie went straight into a slew of insults. Does that make Dougs counter-insults right? *No.* But the point still stands. The issue I have with people coming to these "bully" conclusions is they are by-and-large lumping journalism and the controversy which comes out of it into the category of "bullying". Which is just ridiculous. First of all, no shit criticizing someone or something is going to cause controversy and beef between the person/organization has been criticized, and the commentator who broke the story and opinion. That is how Journalism works.... Further more, when a subject of a story takes your criticism and turns it into charged personal-attacks/insults, of course those insults are going to be reciprocated tit-for-tat. One can't expect to insult someone with personal-attacks and/or character-assassinations (in this case against Doug) and not expect that person to just sit there. That isn't how life works.
What I've learned from this is that 1) More rake is better 2)Big chips should be stored in the gooch 3) Charlie Carrell is a hero 4)Matt Berkey is big bird
I like and respect you, Doug. You’re brave putting yourself out there for this type of thing. They really piled up on you (albeit worded in a nice way). Not everyone is going to love everything you say and no one is perfect when responding to things that come up, but you are fun and interesting to watch and listen to. Keep it up.
Doug! I love your videos. And honestly all those videos you’ve produced “attacking” people. In a lot of cases were just pure comedy to me. Now some of us share your kind of humour, but a lot of people out there get offended. Maybe the biggest takeaway is when you produce a video bashing someone (although very funny) you will get the internet trolls who will flock to the person you roasted and just verbally abuse them. You’re not responsible for their actions. But you have the power to stir up the pot. Most of us don’t go barking at Torelli for hiding some chips, but there are a number who do. Now you’re getting some taste of what some of those guys felt after you did a “hit piece” on them. In all honesty, because you covered Berky a lot in the past, I’ve become a fan of his, where I initially disliked him. So he should be thanking you for all the traffic he got. You helped bring him up, and it actually helps someone’s brand when you’re able to take heat, and stand up for yourself. It’s like all Berky has to do during your bashing videos is make a reply video on his channel, run a 2 week promo, get people in the door for free to check out his material. If the material is valuable, the product will stand on its own. You’re actually damaging your business if Berky applies the right counter attack 😂. You’re giving him all this free traffic Lol You’re not in with the cool kids Doug !!! But I still love your “high quality” videos 😂😂😂
This definitely was a good listen and if this ever reaches Doug's ears I just wanna say a few good things. You have been a true inspiration for those of us climbing the ladder at any stakes we may be at. You have taught me many strategies and how to improve my game with hand analysis and talking threw thoughts. I think without Doug's platform I would know none of the poker news and Doug does a " on a serious note" at the end of all his important videos. It's his thoughts you don't have to believe them. The 1% of elitist in the " high steaks community " don't speak for everyone and in my opinion Doug is someone I will always strive to reach his level. Sorry this was so long. I'm not sorry
The most interesting part of this discussion was when DNegs said you should talk about whatever interests you no matter how many clicks it gets and Doug essentially said that the number of views videos get actually does drive the type of content he creates. I wish someone would have pushed back on him when he kept repeating that calling people out only represents a small portion of his “overall body of work.” The real question is: what percentage of his overall views do the call-out vidoes get? Doug himself complained that a week ago, a hand history video got almost no views. If calling out other poker personalities are the majority of what people actually see - that IS your overall body of work. Like it or not, the clear feedback here is: hot-takes, jokes and call-outs IS what Doug is known for. It definitely is what got him noticed early on. The only choice now that he does have a huge following is: does he fundamentally change his brand. Based on the first vid he made after this epic discussion - it looks like the answer is no.
Phil Galfond's worst argument is ''...and a lot of people agree with me'', for the following reasons: 1, The court of public opinion has the easiest jury to manipulate in the world. and 2. Like it or not, Doug has many MANY more defenders than accusers.
If Doug was a comedian, he would have a Netflix special. Since he’s not, he gets ridiculed by others who can’t keep their emotions in check. Doug comes off as “mean” because he doesn’t sugar coat anything and gets straight to the point. I think of it in this sense, time is invaluable and anyone who doesn’t waste mine is, at least, respectable. Thank you Doug.
Anyone who's willing to get that aggro in a PUBLICLY RECORDED voice call isn't someone you want to be around in person anyways (berks freak out). There's an incredible amount of cringe on all sides lol but I will say thank you Doug for the years of incredible content and improving my skills as a poker player 🤝
It was quite telling to me that when Doug’s trying to get Berkey to name specifics related to HIM, he couldn’t name any and instead brings up Jnandez. Regardless of Doug being in the right or wrong in that case, it’s like what the fucks that got to do with YOU?
Don't let Phil Galfond make you 2nd guess yourself bro, look at where you are now compared to when you started streaming on twitch, look what you've built in that time. Self reflection and humility is always good, but some people will always be jealous. You are successful for a reason.
@@rockybullshite927 it's possible, yea, even subconsciously he may be trying to gain more viewership by writing an article about Doug. A real friend would have just called Doug and had a heart to heart of they felt that way. Writing an article is a pretty lame move.
As a society we love telling people how they meant what they said and what tone they said it in. The person who said the thing is the one who knows how they meant it and it's your choice to believe them or not. A lot of what Jaffe said in the beginning just sounds like "you aren't making the types of videos I want you to make". Like... okay? Sounds like you shouldn't watch.
The reality is comedy shouldn't have this many boundaries and if you're offended that's ok, but you don't get to tell people how they meant something and how they should do it instead. Quit trying to reshape things to fit your own perspective, and grow up.
1. Dnegs back at his best, so likeable and calm. Beautiful moment between him and Doug. 2. JNandez seems like a great dude. Doug had a really tough time arguing against him (probably because he knew he was wrong, which he partly admitted) 3. Berkey had a lot of valid points. Too bad he lost it and dropped the comment about "nobody likes you man". I do understand why he lost it though since Doug really arguing like the typical bully aginst him, making no sense even though he knows damn well what Berkey meant. 4. OMFG I have never seen someone so terrible at arguing as Phil Galfond.. Jesus Christ, it wasn't hard for Doug to win that one. Over all great video. It is not often a watch a 5 hour long RUclips video.
Doug's right lmao. There's definitely a collaboration of people that he's called out (rightfully so) ganging up on him to bring him down. It won't work tho, doug is goated
Literally multiple instances of not rightfully so....lol. He even apologized for them not being rightfully so. Whether that was genuine or not is still in the air. He even made amends with some of them, for example Daniel. I don't agree with Berkey on everything, but to his point, that btw Doug completely missed or more likely tried to erase by dismissing the conversation unless it was specific instances, he might bury the hatchet but it's always after the damage is done and then he continues the cycle repeatedly. When he gets heat for his action's we get some weak ass I am sorry but I stand by my initial perspective on it. The Charlie situation was very eye opening in this regard, and 100% he would not have admitted any wrongdoing or apologized if that space had not got recorded and leaked out to the public. He even said himself he felt like he could say certain things because the space wasn't being recorded by the host.
Doug fucked up huge with JNandez. Doug fucked up huge with saying Charlie Carrel pretty much supports pedophiles. He called out Berkey being a scammer with no evidence to back it up whatsoever. Doug whether he likes it or not was an ambassador for an actual crypto scam. Ganging up? Nope, just the chickens coming home to roost.

@@blinkifyouhearme Let me guess....you heard about him from Doug, and you thought he was a scumbag for years? That's the problem.

My main takeaway from this is the importance of allowing those who feel slighted the opportunity to provide their pov and greater context. Doug has the luxury of challenging Phil's article immediately, whereas it must be incredibly frustrating for those who are shouting into a void... just an actionable consideration for future content

Very well said! I agree with your comments!
Ohh, that's very good constructive criricism. I'm also a big fan and also 100% agree with all 3 points.
Ditto
I have no issue with the Torelli coverage, I’m sorry but that guy is a straight up dick
Damn… dig deep with Negs and Doug… respect to both for this segment
Yes, Daniel was pretty sound, I was very impressed with how he had taken Doug's ragging on the chin, and wasn't bitching about any of that. But, like the previous wet blanket, passive aggressive wanker, he was trying to bring I a bit of the snowflake bullshit "you.cant say nasty things, people might get hurty feelings" rubbish
Doug is potentially breaking one of the golden rules of big RUclips content creators, never break character.
the discussion with Negreanu on their philosophies behind making videos was really interesting
I think its a bit messed up certain big egos in poker are trying to group their grievances against Doug in with something as serious as the Charlie situation
If Berkey for instance thinks Dougs content with him is part of the same problem he's delusional.
Doug was 100% right to walk back the Charlie thing - it is bad its this late
Then JNandez situation is clearly very bitter and complicated, both a personal and business dispute that got out of hand
But people in the space want us to feel bad for like Torelli and Berkey over Dougs content on them. P'ss off
This is bang on.

Well done Doug. You say it like it is which is what we like about you. If it was not for your channel we would not know much of what is happening in the poker world. Keep up the good work!
Insults are the problem. People don't like to be insulted, and they remember it. But effective, humorous insults are liked by everyone else

Agreed, this is mostly hyper sensitive people obsessed with their social media presence and their “career.”
You can only ever present the news honestly to your perspective, how people take that is out of your control. Keep doing your thing Doug, don’t let people like Berkey and Galfond that don’t have your best interest at heart change who you are.
Matt Berkey is just a huge donk😂
I don't have an opinion about the rest of it but going after Angle Shooter Torelli is fine by me.
The Outer Circle stands with Doug
That outer circle is a lot larger and less cringe
"With great power comes great responsibility" Doug
Love the way you show how the man solve his problem .!!!
Cheers.
"controversial subjects and take the bold stances"
You can still report drama and get high views, you just can't make up the drama, which is what Doug does sometimes.
@@ML-sj3gi"I've gone on thousands of walls at night, during which I always see vulnerable people. But in those thousands of nights, I've only killed 20 to 30 prostitutes, so I don't think it's valid to say I'm wrong for that. Think about all the times I DIDN'T kill a prosittute oN my walks!

This is the first I'm been exposed to pretty much all of these dramas, so I'm not too clued up on the depth of context behind them all.. THANK ALL OF YOU FOR MAKING THIS INTERESTING!!!! I love Poker.
This was a really great discussion. Thanks Doug.

Didn't ask

"Narcissism is extreme self-involvement to the degree that it makes a person ignore the needs of those around them. While everyone may show occasional narcissistic behavior, true narcissists frequently disregard others or their feelings. They also do not understand the effect that their behavior has on other people."
Regarding the sports illustrated cover.
In 1978, Childhood Obesity was 5%.
In 2016, Childhood Obesity was 18.5%
In 1990, The state with the highest obesity levels was Mississippi with a rate of 15%
In 2020, The state with the lowest obesity rate is Colorado with a ratio of 23%.
Also in 2021, the #1 and #2 leading causes of deaths was Heart Disease (695,547) and Cancer (605,213).
Also, it's kind of absurd to have someone who is MORBIDLY OBESE (not just obese, but morbidly so) on the cover of a SPORTS magazine.
You're fine Doug. Keep doing what you're doing.
Doug should have mentioned the giveaway.
Let's all take a step-back from sides or specifics and acknowledge that this is an absolutely epic piece of content.
Totally agree. This is mind-blowing poker content.
Very important message here... Feelings don't matter in business!
RIP Doyle!
props to negreaneau who really argumented validly and was imo very sensitive
For those who don't wanna watch the whole thing, here are some cliff notes:
- Doug goes over the line sometimes, he needs to tone his hit pieces back a bit when it comes to hyperbole (Charlie Carrel incidence)
- Torelli and Berkey's issues are really non-important/a big waste of time to listen to
- Phil's piece has some good points, Doug cared too much about the semantics
- Overall, the poker community is just a bunch of manchilds and outcasts, so what do we expect?
Wow, really feels like Burkey attacked Doug, definitely lost him temper where Doug debated hastily but calm and respectful
Please don't change!!! I love Doug Polk!!!
Aww thats so cute

You’re giving him all this free traffic Lol
You’re not in with the cool kids Doug !!!
100% agree.
Doug reading every word against him at literal face value whilst all his attacks are based on exploiting gray area and singular moments
Complaining about people piling on when he is the star tackle.
Phil Galfond's worst argument is ''...and a lot of people agree with me'', for the following reasons:
1, The court of public opinion has the easiest jury to manipulate in the world.
and
Are you suggesting Phil galfond is jealous?😂
BERKEY 👏 DOESN'T 👏 SPEAK 👏 FOR 👏 ME👏. I love you Vanessa!!
1. Dnegs back at his best, so likeable and calm. Beautiful moment between him and Doug.
2. JNandez seems like a great dude. Doug had a really tough time arguing against him (probably because he knew he was wrong, which he partly admitted)
