Feuding Poker Players Fight Over A $100,000 Pot

- Matt Berkey managed to make it to this Live at the Bike game, where he and I got involved in one of the biggest pots of the week. He faced a tough river decision in which calling would mean playing for a pot of over $100,000. Should he make the hero call, or fight to live another day?

The Master Doug Polk reveals the insight and strategy behind winning the lottery.
Yeah cash 3 is like 1 in 1000 this was only 1 in 400 you are way out of line sir!!
He clearly got lucky. He is a great player. But talking shit on this kind of win is over the top. Berky knew he didn't have shit and was bluffing. I think he made perfect call. His read was dead on. Doug just got lucky. Lol
By lottery you mean 52 different cards ? 52 possibilities yeah wish the lottery was that easy
@@adventuresoftheuneducatedh7813 No you took that too literally in this case winning the lottery simply meant absurdly lucky.
Lol
I noticed that Doug never EVER says he made a bad play. He always justifies his bad plays with jibberish. That being said, I gotta get ready for a big game, 25c./50c. Max buy in 5 dollars, wish me luck.
+TheVoiceofReason I have said I made a mistake from time to time (like the Q6o hand in the super high roller blog). But if me getting there on a bluff means I should "admit" I made a mistake, then no, I will justify my play
nice 10 bb game you are playing in
So let me rephrase what you are saying: Bluffing = playing bad. That’s basically what you are saying when you think Doug shouldn’t 3-barrel one of his best bluffing hands, if not THE best.
I’m impressed how many people fail to understand sound logic after 18 minutes long explanations. If you don’t understand a play ask questions but don’t assume you have a better understanding of the game than one of the best poker players out there. Sure, Fedor is better but Doug is not too bad either. ;)
yeah jibberish, gto is jibberish, totally, nice troll.
Incase you guys are taking me serious, I was being Sarcastic, meaning I wasn't being serious.
Doug did you make it 30.5k on the river so that you could put >100k in the title? Such a thoughtful dude
+Andrew McCollum 🙃
Doug Polk Poker Do they give you an hour and a half to run all this through your head during the game?
14:12 i love Garret's eyes at this point - he is so involved watching, probably thinking thank god that isn't me, but still thinking about the hand so much.
Probably checking did he find any tells how doug bet.
Had not seen this one before, literally burst out laughing at that river.
Look at Garrett's eyes as Doug reaches for chips on the river. LOL 14:00
mrman487 Too much adderal.

Your comment proves you know nothing about poker strategy
almost looks like doug mirrored tom dwan in his table demeanor...the way he stares at nothing, blinks, bobs his head every time he completes his chip shuffle...looks 100% mimic'd every single step
Chicken Chauffeur he is secretly in love with Dwan.
Looks gay as hell...cheap ass durr fake
I was thinking the same thing, Dwan is clearly Doug’s idol
wow i so agree...lol
Doug is a big if not the biggest Dwan fanboy...
o man that dwan look at the end got me rolling
Garret’s face when Doug bets the River 😂😂😂
Hey Doug, amazing content as always.
Just wondering, if the river bricks, as you said you were planning on putting the third barrel, which sizing would you go for considering you've already overbet the turn ?
Thanks
He just said he was planning a third barrel to excuse the fact that he was just playing the lottery.
Garret's face while Doug is cutting out his bet..... priceless.
HAHA!! "Holy shit, that's a full house!" So good. The cutaway to Dwan's face at the end was too much!!
take your courage
I was wondering who was commentating and then I realized it was me... "Holy guacamole"

Doug gets lucky on the river and talks a lot of smack. (Quick summary.)

@@brandonmitchell4845 underrated comment
That River suck out reminds me of a hand I was in at Turning Stone Casino in New York about 9 years ago that cost me the biggest pot of my life! (and represented about 1/2 years net income on my day job) This was when they had a bigger cash game ($5-$10 NL $5K max), and I had bought in for $5,000 and had a stack of a bit over $7,000 when this hand started. I have QT suited and I flat call a $50 bet preflop out of position.
Three players including me see the flop,...which comes QQK rainbow. One player bets pot size $150, I raise to $2,000 to isolate this player, player after me folds, and the $150 bettor calls my raise. The turn comes a TEN, giving me the QQQTT boat, and the guy checks to me. I shove my $5,000 remaining and he calls with what I later learn is AK os. So he's come ALL this way with my big raise and bets on that QQK flop with just K's,...and he CALLS my $5K turn bet besides,.....geeze. River comes the case K, as a player said later he folded a K.
So there I lost a $14,000+ pot to a lucky river giving him KKKQQ higher boat on a ONE outer! The Poker God's are mighty cruel sometimes, rewarding really bad play as what happened here with Doug's hand. :-)
a clip of dwans confused face was perfect.
Doug: so he can't have a 7 of diamonds because there's one on the board. he can't have a 7 of clubs because there's one on the board....
captain Doug Paul. lol!
My impression of youtube comments:
"I'm a low-stakes losing player and I hate it when bad players river me in spots like this, so I'm going to take my aggression out on a guy who is clearly one of the best NLH players in the world and say his bad play just got lucky. I'll ignore the fact that he had planned on betting all-in instead of 30k on the river if the board didn't double pair; I'll ignore the fact that a 60k bet is very different than a 30k bet. I'll ignore that even if his 60k bet got called it doesn't mean his line is bad because you have to bluff a lot at higher stakes games to be profitable because most players will beat the strategies I use to try (and fail) to win at low stakes."
I think that sums it up.
MrAndersonmm Indeed.
I think Polk picks which hands he shows on his channel, I wouldnt be proud of playing that bad though.
With that board Matt’s calling him, especially if he jams all in. Matt’s never putting him on a 7, he played it like he had an ace. If he’s tryna represent the 7 than he just flats the flop bet. He got lucky end of story.
Really? The only reason he didn't snap call the river is because he DIDN'T bet all in. He was inducing a bluff the whole time. Genius
@@Nasdupree9090why would Doug EVER play an ace like that? Absolutely no reason to raise that flop with any Ace, it's an easy call. He's saying I have a Seven, or I have a bluff. Sized up on the turn to push out pairs between 10's and Kings and weak Aces, then got lucky and got paid. Try and get basic analysis correct before going after one of the best cash games players on the planet...
Doug trying to explain how he didn't donk off chips in this clip lol 😆 😂 🤣.
"Do you wanna know what makes me feel like I'm in my back yard? BEING IN MY BACK YARD!"
That had me 😂😂😂
That comment was ROFL 🤣 worthy!!!
Chad Carter Lol seriously? So the next time YOU say something FIGURATIVELY, and someone counters weakly by going LITERAL, you're going to laugh your ass off? Lol. Figures of speech aren't supposed to be taken literally nor countered literally, geniuses!
Legend has it that Berkey is still stunned from that play
Wow Polk you sent Matt spinning so hard on tilt from these videos that he lost 400k tonight on poker after dark.
Hahahah doug you have given me the funniest poker moment of my life at 13.40 hahah cheers for the laugh mate
Looked this up after hearing you talk about it on your podcast with Garrett. Did not disappoint. Love the content man! The ending was class!
I love this excuse !!! You don’t have much on the flop BUT your “hand is kind of COOL” 😁😂😁
It was honestly a cool hand to play lol
I want to see Doug and Berkey go heads up at King of the Hill IV!
Both a couple of fucking donks.
Dammit Bobbeh
lol, Nosferatu was absolutely pissed on the River! ha ha.
Perhaps the funniest poker hand I have seen this year.
how people still don't understand dougs sense of humour amazes me
amazes me too. Let's write a thesis about it. So amazing.
@@Ewochable hey bro, i just finished my thesis on Doug Polk's sense of humor. Shoot me your email and I'll cc you if you wouldn't mind proof reading. Cheers!
What's to get? He's just a narcissistic bully, and a troll for no reason other than he thinks it will get him action. He really has a hard on for trying to bully live pros into play him heads up. Unless I hung out with him in person and saw he's different, then it's pretty obvious to most people who he is.
He did in interview once where he was asked if he plays in any big games with celebrities, and he said he doesn't get invited to those. Pretty obvious why.
Ugh explain the humor here. Is he trying to clown himself? Because he did.
@@Grumpeljism yes very obvious... he would felt them.

Worst move I've seen by a pro! You're a madman Doug, nice job, love your videos, watched the whole $270k video, picked up a lot of good tournament tips, really appreciate you posting these vids man.
Its the greatest how you roast. I was cracking up.. nice pot!
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! 14:09 !!! Garrett's face!!! Dude is DEFINITELY THINKING, "This guy is lighting chips on fire, as this might be the most transparent bluff I've ever seen. Nobody raises a 7 on the flop."
You should
Matt had Doug pegged the whole time, and he got an extremely gross runout is what I’m getting from this video.
Exactly. Desperate play in a hand he never should have been involved in. 10 min of worthless over speculation and smuggy millenial cockiness
Yeah except for all the guys on Doug s 🥜 Lol. It’s a nice breakdown, but 92 times out a hundred it’s a punt on the river …. Soooooo
“Backyard”? That my friend should be a “Back Patio”....🤣

I probably watched this before. It was just as good the second time around!

All these people being given free analysis by one of the demonstrably best players in the world and saying it's terrible. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink i guess.
Lol drink this water all you want. People who knows poker knows better. A novice poker player knows better. The odds are horrible.
@@tuwalee7406 lol, Doug has won over $9,000,000 playing poker. What's your stats?
This hand is basically the sole reason they dislike each other. Lol
These never get old!!
How to play a hand as bad as you can and get dead lucky....then rationalize it somehow
“Small size like 3/4 pot” hahahaha what an awesome analysis.
Pokie you are the best at describing hands and thought processes!
Polk basically admitted he was going to go for it on the river anyway. The way this went it suggests he would have then been called and lost. Although maybe it would have been an All in call, which is in some ways more difficult but also cries out more as a bluff potentially so likely a call still. In fact since the 9 was the unlikely card, in most cases Polk would have lost. It was Berkey who was unlucky obviously.
I had no idea Berkey had talked shit about that disgustingly great PAD line-up. Trying to claim he's the best live player out of those sharks is like Rebel Wilson saying backstage at a Victoria's Secret show "...but do I think I'm better looking than all of these girls live? *awkwardly look to your left* Fuck yes!"
Berkey is so obviously the biggest spot at that table. He's kidding himself if he thinks otherwise.
Teach me how to dougie. Please.
You can learn yourself just watch Poker
c b thats funny I was thinking the same thing..
be rich and just fire with runner runner draws.... lol
I teach you for free. full table I am better the Doug and the rest of that table.

Best clip ever. You know what makes me feel like I'm in my back yard...
Just noticed what that cats shirt says. "Don't quite your day job." Awesomely appropriate.
"And this is where things get pretty interesting" Dougs favorite saying
Can't stop laughing when he comes to the part "holy s*it that's a full house" lolllll
'Most hands miss on paired flops, and if your opponent doesn't have anything they are going to have to let go of most of their hands'. Bets > 1/2 pot, gets raised by 9-high.
Imagine thinking you played this hand well when you hit a one outer after a shit bluff

HOLY SHIT THAT'S A FULL HOUSE! I was laughing so hard, had to send this to my friends. Gotta love some Doug Polk Poker!
@17:33 I lost my shit. Perfect!!
Doug. You sucked out plain and simple, That’s all. Regardless of all the summary report... he had you in real bad shape dumping your cash and you hit miracle runner runner. It happens. Next.
I only wish this was Garrett instead of Berkey.. That bitcoin donkey.
Of course he got lucky here. That's not the point of these videos. The point is to discuss what lines to take with what hands on which runouts. If Berkey had AJ and the river came a 3 Doug would've likely succeeded in getting Berkey to fold.
Hey Doug! Can you please teach me how to bluff raise the flop and then to hit runner runner trips?
Berkey looks like one of the dudes from that old SNL skit "Were going to pump you up " .

Nicholas Cotrupi Just a little b bustin, no reason to get all preachy.

good passion level/really high content. feud with berkey is best drama in the game atm, and i'm sure he loves it too.
Hey Doug, when you bet 1,5 pot on the turn you should have 5/7 value and 2/7 bluffs, correct? That being said, the value hands are Ah7h, 7h7s, 9h7h, 9s7s, 6s7s, 6h7h, 7h8h and 7s8s for a total of 8 hands, and you say you would have 4 or 5 combos that you would want to bluff with, shouldn't a balanced range have only 3 bluffs? Does position matter when constructing your ranges/sizes? Does the fact of still having a betting round on the river changes de combos from 3 to 4 or 5? Anyways, nice hand and great video
When do they "fight?"
Honestly though, props to this guy for losing $50k to some 1/2 level play and not even flinching. That's some pro level shit right there.
You can tell Doug was serious about the hand cuz he was doing the Ton Dwan head bob!
Amazing Doug! Love you! Funny clip from ur backyard! Haha!
lol he says berkey isn't known for folding yet he is following up with bluffs. lol the irony
Irony? It's called stupidty.
Doug always has a 7 here. Just fold the flop, fish! 😂
I'm just going to save people the trouble and explain: I'm mocking the "he always/never has it" people.
what hands would you choose for berkey to bluff shove the river. is taking a lower middling Ace like AJ/AT just suicide? if berkey doesnt bluff he only has AA as a river shove, so you can just fold everything but quads
I went and had lunch and came back and Dougie is still talking about the river card.
Matt listen to me. 3 pairs never never never wins.
It does against bluffs...

hey Doug, if a 9 hadn't hit on the river, what would your bet sizing have been? great vid as alway, btw...cheers
You talked about your sizing being different because the two pair on the board. You overbet the turn, but if you didn’t hit the 9 on the river, are you using the same size? I’d assume you’d also go for the overbet or shove?
Slow roll would have been sweet
secretagentman23 this
You went from 0 on the flop to lucky hero by the river, and you rub the guy's face in it?
I'm actually a bit suprised at your lack of humbleness.

Running good, like the detailed explanations. Good info
Like your video. I wonder what would you do if you don't hit the 9 on the river? Same bet or all in?
Love the calculated play by play commentary on a miracle run-out as if there's any value to understanding what on earth polk was thinking during his melt-down.
Should’ve folded to his flop bet. You were all but drawing dead. Flopping only backdoor draws when you know your opponent has a made hand should tell you to fold and find another spot. If the goal was to represent a 7, then raising on the flop was a terrible idea. I think you played this hand worse than a newbie 1/2 cash game player. The far fetched justifications of blockers and so forth is gibberish.
