Students might note different names for some of these poses, but seeing Ardha Chandrasana in side plank is very telling as students should think of poses in a variety of presentations; up, down, side, etc. Also… when students hear “basic” they tend to think of themselves, what they can do or they think that the presentation should be basic. I consider these poses as The Basics, i.e. the basic repertoire that students should strive for. There are of course 1000s of asana.
I especially like 8, 10, 18, 26, 28, 30, 65, 66, …79. These poses bring back memories. Posed for pictures years before social media, when you’d have to get the film printed. 79 on the wall as a child. Lonely girl only one doing it when friends playing around.
