Yes,i enjoyed this very much. I am 71,and this brings back wonderful memories. In the 60s i used to travel down to Devon on many occasions, complete with 3 course dinner ( waiter service of course ) all for the price of £15.50 inc,no cardboard sandwiches. Thank you so much for showing us these magnificent machines of days gone by.
How can anybody be so obtuse as to give this a thumbs-down? They should just click away and do something else! Thank you, guys, I very much enjoyed this.
Well done MSV, when we cant be out there watching them, what better way to spend an afternoon by a superb collection of my fave GWR locos, started great, king powering through the mist!!!, loving your work MSV, keep em coming
Amazing. There are still enough GWR locos around to run a skeleton Sunday service. The GUV behind the tender is reminiscent of the SyphonG which was often the first vehicle.
Absolutley brilliant videos in superb light so envious. The best ive seen yet.Just love GWR. It takes me back to my childhood. Hoping to get out and do some of this.
Seeing Foxcote Manor on loan and on home territory brought a few tears to my eyes. I do hope she's safe. I'm so worried about her being locked up on the West Somerset Railway. She's my one true love and if anything should happen to her, I don't know what I would do. I'm lonely without her, I'm sure she's as distraught as I am. I just pray we will see each other again somewhere down the line.
Lovely to hear that GWR bark of exhaust - like all real steam locomotives should have - not those allegedly efficient but asthmatic sounding multiple blast pipe jobbies used by some neferious railways. ;-)
Whoever arranged to put a pannier tank in front of a castle on the main line was not only very cruel, but showed a complete disregard for GWR/BR(W) operating procedures.
Excellent as always MSV. But what I really long for is a compilation of steam accelerating hard (preferably slightly up hill and from a standing start) Don't ask for much - sorry. LOL.
They were detonators, which were due to be discarded because their shelf life was almost up, so instead of just being thrown away, they were used. The purpose of this is to warn of danger; detonators form part of what is known as 'Emergency Protection' which on the railway refers to the method of trying to prevent any approaching trains from colliding with or becoming involved in an emergency situation which has already taken place, they're also used to alert train crews about track workers further up the line.
because they have good coal being used by good firemen. A well fired steam locomotive should make barely any visible smoke while working. If an engine is continuously making a lot of smoke it is either poor quality coal, poor quality firing or both.
As the saying goes; "There are two ways to do things, the wrong way, or the GWR way"

Fantastic compilation of gleaming examples of GWR Preservation at its finest. Great clips, thank you. 😎 From an ex Mancunian in Durban SA.

Everything about this video makes me love England! 🇬🇧❤🇬🇧 Cheers from USA!
I was most entertained by the pannier being rushed along by the castle, it’s little connecting rods twirling frantically away!
It was indeed a most remarkable sight
21:44 Yes. Very interesting indeed. Very interesting.
Yes, a pannier is not good at high speed. It did well to keep out of the way.
Fantastic to see all of these locomotives from God's Wonderful Railway! Brilliant compilation, love the 14xx, 28xx, Castle, Hall and King.
Wonderful subjects, photography, and sound. Many thanks for such grand memories. Rmb
Fantastic video, thoroughly enjoyed it. All the best, Darren.
Fantastic shots there, some proper GWR action!
What a treat 🤩 beautiful compilation superb sound and video quality. Thanks to people running these too
Lovely compilation of videos, I have missed been out and about the last 12 months watching and filming GWR steam. Thank you 👍
17:16 that engine in the front looks like oliver
17:28 and that looks like his breakvan toad

I live for steam! The sound alone is everything!
Wonderful collection :)
Thank you very sincerely for giving me my Llandeilo childhood back!!
That’s fantastic
Stunning video, the sound is amazing
Love it! The SDR are using fairly newish restored engines at the moment.
I love the Clun castle and the SVR shot
Very nice real presentation 🤗🤗
I can't wait till lock down ends and I get my final covid jab so then I can go and see these again
Thanks...From Kentucky calling $$$ collect....!

Best kind of ASMR
I’ve been to most of these railways
At 14:31
Is that first coach a slip coach?
Soy feliz viendo Videos de los trenes pues ese era mi transporte en mi país de un lugar a otro

42:49 There's My Boy!
It’s certainly not 2015 that 6990 witherslack hall made his visit here on the seven valley railway it’s 2016
Wait is there any Thomas bases in here?
I do not see a coal tender in some of these shots. How do they fire the boiler?
Some of these are tank engines, so the tender is built to the rear of the locomotive. If you look closely you'll be able to see the coal.
What was going on in the final scene with all the "fireworks"?
They were detonators, which were due to be discarded because their shelf life was almost up, so instead of just being thrown away, they were used. @@MarshSteamVideosTM Thank you
All the train memes aside, why can’t Queensland have these kind of steam locomotives?
Awww no Olton Hall 😢
Some of those trains look like from Thomas and friends
Why GWR 4270 (6.40) and some others works practically without any smoke?
because they have good coal being used by good firemen. A well fired steam locomotive should make barely any visible smoke while working. If an engine is continuously making a lot of smoke it is either poor quality coal, poor quality firing or both.
Warm air, simple as that.
@@markturner4219 Thank You for the thorougly knowledge

gwr 5619 really looks like thomas the tank engine
I do believe at 53:40 its 2807 not 3802
You'll have to be more precise as 53.40 is neither. With a video this long and with over 100 captions there will be always a mistake or too.
I can't imagine what the phoney all pervasive boogie 'virus' has done to people who run and look after these great machines of the past....

The are beautiful, romantic and majestic, but . . . . . . . . . . . . The pollution.
Minimal ! British steam trains contribute to around about 0.2% Of net carbon emissions annually in the U.K. Charcoal barbecues pollute more !
@@MarshSteamVideosTM Convert them all to electric, eh! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
