1 Expert Shovel 2 Comms 3 World Map 4 Station Map 5 Flashlight 6-8 Jobs 9 Lantern (yellow) 0 EOT Lantern - Lighter = Wallet Regular shovel 's in my backpack for startup. Don't need it on the hotbar as it won't be used while moving.
@@Pentium100MHz it takes a smaller scoop to more finely control the amount of coal you throw into the firebox. that is really it. if you aren't running too fast, it kinda matters for how much coal you burn compared to the water you boil, but if you are running high on the throttle and getting a lot of draft, i wouldnt think it matters too much. If you shovel too much coal, you just get low temp black smoke which means you arent getting as much heat as you could out of the coal you are shoveling.
Tossing my votes in for DM3 and Train Length 2. Why? Because it leaves your only current MU capable engine as the DE2, so you still have that potential strategy on your plate (DE2 MU snake to haul a big job), but also gives you bigger jobs to really put your current steam engine to the test, and gives you one additional "lifeline" locomotive for "oh, crap, I Kenosha'd the S060." Plus, I really, really look forward to seeing you money-shift a DM3.
Totally would prefer that as well. The DH4 is too good to take right away. I'd actually love to run that one more myself, but it's awful in VR since you can't leave anything in the cabin while passing a tunnel without the stuff being pulled out.
In my personal opinion: The DM3 is only useful for shunting, rescuing and destroying it, it can pull really good but is very slow and cumbersome to drive Since you already have the multiple unit license, the choice lies between IMO the easiest, most relaxed locomotive in the game, the DH4, which as a MU can easily be as good as or better than the DE6, or the S282, which is faster and its explosivness may be more fun in videos I think you should either go with the S282 or the DH4 plus another license to make the trains longer, since unless you want to use multiple S060s and/or DE2s, which as we've seen in this video is quite spicy, you can't really haul longer trains without a new locomotive
When I saw the thumbnail and saw how you started running the train I knew something bad was going to happen right away. Though I thought maybe you maxed out the tonnage, I didn't realize you were going to blow up a rolling steam bomb right next to the explodey bois. But hey that's what happens on the ES&D right, no management on night shift means spicey Kenosha times can happen more often. Now just wait till you try and double head 2 steam locomotives oh won't that be a fun time.
@@peregrina7701 Trying to see him double head the 282 and 060 would be the absolute funniest thing I think he could do on his derail valley career. And to make it even better make it a long train of nothing but explodey bois. He'll either make lots of money or just fault out blow up the whole train. Either way it'll make for a really fun episode.
Is you get all concurrent orders, you could in theory add 4 or more jobs together to make a longer train then some jobs with the long 1/2 license on it... Also Hyce, After the explosion of the 0-6-0 , you hooked the loco and the boys up together to let the breaks go, but you didn't couple them up. Once you let go of the handbrake on the boys and released the pressure on the pipe, those cars just rolled back to where the pipe disconnected and set up the cars again, thats why you has such confusion and delay after the big boom...
I love how you comment about the possibility for the lamp to start a fire when you drop it on the inflammable ballast later though, but not on the car full of good knows what flammables
Trains work like trains when you actually hook them up with the chain as well as the air hose - 20:06 AND 22:40 Don't know why the S060 disappeared though. It was clearly hooked to an active job.
The DM3 can pull heavier loads up a hill without a runup than the DH4, but does it very slowly. Its also relatively cheap to fix. The DH4 is a lot easier to run and can pull more faster than the DM3, but is rather expensive to fix.
Just a suggestion, but instead of running to another location to get another train, you could've made the diesel engine deliver half now and later when the steam train exploded.
22:44 Hyce forgot to hook up the couplers. Connected the air but didn't see it's disconnected 🤣 Train lenght 2 would be great bc most good jobs are Long 2,. Although the DM3 sucks i would love to see hyce blow DM3 left and right 😂
Thanks for another video. I was jyst thinking, for some canoshia reduction, you might think about gettibg the loco remote for the de2 so you don't have to jump back and forth so mouch. Or ayne go agains alk you are abandon steam and go for the DH4 so you don't have to keep blowing up the poir steam locos
DM3 is good for the dumb fun factor but the DH4 is my "go to" train, it can be run with the remote and is quite a strong engine, it multi units great and 2 of them back to back makes turning around a thing of the past.
Hyce, The 060 would have handled the 450 tons from SM to CSW. Didn't need the DE2 for that. Also, with coupling two dissimilar locomotives. Set the ones with non self lapping brake valves to the lap position. Then use the self lapping engine to actuate the brakes. Secondly the DE2, doesn't cool well in reverse. That's where your cooling issues come from.

extra 1: Lantern
extra 2: golden shovel (For startup on steams to fill the firebox)
6 and 7 can be emptied if you arent planning to use steam.
I am only commenting this because of how disorderly your hotbar looks. :P
Does using the expert shovel vs standard one make a big difference?
1 Expert Shovel
2 Comms
3 World Map
4 Station Map
5 Flashlight
6-8 Jobs
9 Lantern (yellow)
0 EOT Lantern
- Lighter
= Wallet
Regular shovel 's in my backpack for startup.
Why?
Because it leaves your only current MU capable engine as the DE2, so you still have that potential strategy on your plate (DE2 MU snake to haul a big job), but also gives you bigger jobs to really put your current steam engine to the test, and gives you one additional "lifeline" locomotive for "oh, crap, I Kenosha'd the S060."
Plus, I really, really look forward to seeing you money-shift a DM3.
Totally would prefer that as well. The DH4 is too good to take right away. I'd actually love to run that one more myself, but it's awful in VR since you can't leave anything in the cabin while passing a tunnel without the stuff being pulled out.
Boss:What did you do this time?
Hyce:Nothing
Boss:then why is there an exploded engine in the yard
In my personal opinion:
The DM3 is only useful for shunting, rescuing and destroying it, it can pull really good but is very slow and cumbersome to drive
Since you already have the multiple unit license, the choice lies between IMO the easiest, most relaxed locomotive in the game, the DH4, which as a MU can easily be as good as or better than the DE6, or the S282, which is faster and its explosivness may be more fun in videos
I think you should either go with the S282 or the DH4 plus another license to make the trains longer, since unless you want to use multiple S060s and/or DE2s, which as we've seen in this video is quite spicy, you can't really haul longer trains without a new locomotive
"Hyce fucking around with some Shunters, the feature length film, coming to a theater near you (hopefully not-)."
I would say "don't give him ideas" except a) he has them already and b) it's funny as hell. 🤣
Now Hyce, you know perfectly well you cannot leave a steam locomotive unattended for more than ten seconds...
19:26 Sir, we see a serious safety violation here! You have placed a burning lantern on a car full of flammable material!
I love how you comment about the possibility for the lamp to start a fire when you drop it on the inflammable ballast later though, but not on the car full of good knows what flammables
Imo, the DM3 is breeze to drive, its not a steamer but a lot fun to drive, and quite a puller too.
Trains work like trains when you actually hook them up with the chain as well as the air hose - 20:06 AND 22:40
Don't know why the S060 disappeared though. It was clearly hooked to an active job.
Mickley edited out 10 minutes of hyce trying to fix the train, there was a block of text on the screen that said he deleted the broken S060
You should get the DM3, i think it would be fun to watch you try to run it and probably blow a gear box lol
Would love to see him money$hift the heck out of it with all those typical reactions! :D
Connected the air but didn't see it's disconnected 🤣
Train lenght 2 would be great bc most good jobs are Long 2,.
Man dang it hyce what did I tell you? Zyrtec good.
I take it daily man, extra bad allergies yesterday I guess lol
DM3 is good for the dumb fun factor but the DH4 is my "go to" train, it can be run with the remote and is quite a strong engine, it multi units great and 2 of them back to back makes turning around a thing of the past.
The Mikado(S282) and Concurrent Jobs 2. I wanna see that Mike haul 30 cars across the Rockies!!!
I love listening to this!
DE-2 as a sustainer motor, intresting idea. SHUNTER POWER!!!!
I'd love to see you try and figure out the DM3
Hyce,
The 060 would have handled the 450 tons from SM to CSW.
It was 600 tons :P but, that makes a lot of sense. That's... not really what the real thing would do but that makes sense lol
