So now we know... miller hook couplers are the real world equivalent of what horn hook couplers are in the model railroad world. Looks like it was an amazing show
A guy at the WW&F museum has a plan (some call it a dream / fantasy) to replace the current knuckles with miller hooks because they were original to the railroad. The plan is to use an adapter to still allow us to use knuckles if needed. Initially I was not for it, but looking at the plans, they seem to hold some water. -A guy who Volunteers there.
Y'all are too funny and the vlog is a lot of fun! Thank you! I wish I'd spent more time at the Lego layout. Glad you featured that awesome Nn3 layout. I didn't take any video footage of it :) It was a wonderful show and I'm glad I got to meet a bunch of fellow Hyce fans
23:29 Lego OP&E/McCloud 19 spotted. Everytime I see one of those it lights a fire in me that I want to start doing Lego trains. They've come such a long way since I was a kid in the early 2000s playing with the first lego electric trains.
There’s so much identity crisis. The navy sailor ate the purple crayon and the signal engineer signed the navy contract and the civil engineer ate the navy contract.
36:04 . that is where i appear, it was so nice meeting you in person hyce! it was my 1st year at this show and its was a blast. driving my MRL consist around one of the most fun and large layouts and seeing kids and adults faces light up as the trains passed by was a experience. Cheers to Big E 2025 and oops all Kenosha!
Great Video as always mark, it was fun being there and being able to meet you at the rapido booth on saturday thank you for the coin you gave me and please thank leighton for the stickers he gave me at the end of sunday.
3/4 show when, it's been a blast looking through all the stories and I want more, but overall, keep up the great work, you're keeping my childhood alive
Its so surreal to see Glen in one of your videos. I don't know know him, but I did work with him for a bit in Sugarcreek. Real nice and knowledgeable guy. Great video overall as well!
Y’all were thinking that 1 minute headway was crazy, but when I was in Amsterdam, their transit system had almost no headway whatsoever, maybe 30 seconds at most. I saw four different trams sitting in a two-track station.
It was really awesome to meet you at the show. Hope to see you again sometime! I hope you can visit the WW&F or Edaville at some point. Long live the 2ft-ers!!! -The guy who asked for a picture as you were leaving.
Hi hyce, I'm a mechanic-cars, and I just ran into some folks in Cleveland oh who restore stream trains like you. I lost their business card but they said they knew of you and love the work you do on that side of the us.
Very cool y'all got to see the Cassin Young (DD-793). I have yet to visit a WWII Destroyer, only a WWII Submarine for me so far lol. The newfound ship nerd in me has to wonder if the horn in the top right at time 54:01 is a Leslie Tyfon 300 DVE. Lots of ships (including many great lakes freighters) had 300s and 425s. There's only one great lakes freighter that still operates them to this day tho *single tear*
OMG, Mark that was a hilarious and so interesting travel vlog! Much silliness and giggles. The Amherst show looked amazing with much to see. All those layouts were ultra-cool with impressive attention to detail. The dedication to this hobby is apparent. And the variety mind blowing. Loved the Lego layout. Also, I’m always impressed with the model structures just spectacular. That hump yard was fun to watch! Your wood Monte model generously gifted to you by R. Duck is a magnificently beautiful work of art. Looks so lovely among your background choo choo collection! Sorry I couldn’t have gone but enjoyed watching this beautiful video. Many thanks Professor for sharing your trip with us. Always nice to see Leighton and Jimmy. Looking forward to your next installment and as always, cheers to you guys!
This is gonna be good. It will be fascinating to see how much is different, but also how much is similar between train shows in the USA and here in the AUS.
3:11 COCKATOO NOISES! You hast summoned thy aviation foamer to say, nay that be a 757, it be a 737 MAX! (It has dawned on me that Jimmy was pointing the camera left, I feel stupid, but Leighton being up front got the buzz of the engines)
I inspired to be like Dusty's friend Jimmy from the cog with my jokes 44:39 my ship tism flared up. Thats the USS Cassin Young. A Fletcher class destroyer. 52:51 it flared up again. Theres USS Constitution. The flagship of the USN 53:24 And we are back to the Cassin Young. The ribbons on the side are Navy Unit Commendation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal with seven battle stars, WW2 victory medal, Navy Occupation Medal with the Europe clasp, China Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Philippine Liberation Medal with two stars, United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean War Service Medal If you ever need a ship or boat guide let me know. They are my specialty.
@Hyce777 its a ship. Boats are small crafts or submarines. You would get beat over the head with a coal shovel if you made the fireman mad. The same will basically happen if you call a ship a boat. Both the USS Constitution and the museum ship Cassin Young are ships. The best way to remember is you can ship a boat but you can't ship a ship.
I metal bird foam constantly. Setting up a RasPi based ADS-B receiver is cheap and easy, and if you use it to feed flightaware they'll upgrade your account to Enterprise (currently $100/month) for as long as you give them the data. This makes the cycle of Metal Bird Foaming feed into itself quite rapidly.
holy mother of train shows “It’s Dusty’s friend Jimmy from the cog!” “WOAH! I know you!” “…allegedly.” great meeting you at the show! still kinda getting over meeting a huge inspiration of mine :) moxie is battery acid in a can (the best kind is in a can)
Regarding the assertion you have made in the past that the point of model railways is to drink beer and watch the train go in circles, a beer can should be roughly the same diameter as an "O" scale tank car. This means: Sushi convayor beer train. (according to the Wikipedia articles for "DOT-111 tank car" and "Drink Can", the OD of a tank cat is 3251.20mm and the OD of a North American drink can is 66.0mm, do the math and the diameter of the tank car is 49.26 bigger the the beer can, the closest standardized model scale to this is 1:48, which is "O" scale for "Standard" gauge.)
Dude if your still in the area go check out the Lowell mass Textile mills museum they were all run by steam. They also have street car and an old Boston and main steam cho choo in static display I always said to the national park employees they need to get this old engine going
I must’ve missed you, I was only there for a short time on Sunday because I had a concert literally the night before. I got 4 hours of sleep that night. I slept much better the evening after the show.
I am making my own set of the Ho scale train set and when you do come to Pennsylvania and I sent you the dates of when the Reading and Norther 2102 is running for this year.

Once again fulfilling our reputation as a bunch of orange cats in a box
Maybe, but I if you had at least half the fun of a box full of orange cats, and it looks like you did, then I bet the trip was well worth it, sir!
As a grown man, I have no clue wtf you just said. 😂
Can confirm, nobody reads my signs.
keep trying, you'll get a turn with the braincell one day...
So now we know... miller hook couplers are the real world equivalent of what horn hook couplers are in the model railroad world. Looks like it was an amazing show
someone didn't watch our jeopardy episodes
Honestly, the horn hook has more in common with the Soviet SA3 coupler than miller hook just on how similar their designs are
A guy at the WW&F museum has a plan (some call it a dream / fantasy) to replace the current knuckles with miller hooks because they were original to the railroad. The plan is to use an adapter to still allow us to use knuckles if needed. Initially I was not for it, but looking at the plans, they seem to hold some water. -A guy who Volunteers there.
Awesome channel great video keep them up make sure you like and subscribe thank you for your support I need all feedback on my train videos thank you
30:25 Full bar at a train show is wild. that should be a standard at all train shows.
Train show beers sound awesome!
I could get my wife to attend train shows if they all had a full bar.
You breaking out the lime was perfection. :)

The lego stuff is mind blowing. Some of it looks like conventional scale models plunked down on lego track.
There’s so much identity crisis. The navy sailor ate the purple crayon and the signal engineer signed the navy contract and the civil engineer ate the navy contract.

Nice Video Hyce I got to see you! I was surprised that you came all the way to Massachusetts!
3/4 show when, it's been a blast looking through all the stories and I want more, but overall, keep up the great work, you're keeping my childhood alive
Hour-long Hyce video. Sleep is for the weak.
Amen, 12:37am
We die like men!
24:59 I was over by "The Bridge" when I heard this Kenosha going down (also cool meeting you earlier in the day)
At 24:35 me and my friends are briefly visible behind the table. It was a pleasant surprise that day seeing Hyce and getting to say hi.
Its so surreal to see Glen in one of your videos. I don't know know him, but I did work with him for a bit in Sugarcreek. Real nice and knowledgeable guy. Great video overall as well!
32:34 I did _not_ think any model railroader would actually model a hot box! Now try doing that in N, Z, or T!
Not me at 5:02 going “ yeah, that’s a monster” then I see the monster “ good Hyce” lol
I love the vlog and hope there's more. It's the 3/4 show, but on the road
Great fun to watch your adventures. My favorite bits were the Lego trains and the hot box car that's fun.
25:01 the stop and start of Kenosha 😂
Y’all were thinking that 1 minute headway was crazy, but when I was in Amsterdam, their transit system had almost no headway whatsoever, maybe 30 seconds at most. I saw four different trams sitting in a two-track station.
THOSE LEGO TEAINS ARE AMAZING! I WANT
It was really awesome to meet you at the show. Hope to see you again sometime! I hope you can visit the WW&F or Edaville at some point. Long live the 2ft-ers!!! -The guy who asked for a picture as you were leaving.
Awesome video Hyce! Always want to go to train show’s!
We’re not even two minutes in and Jimmy already deserves a lime.
Hi hyce, I'm a mechanic-cars, and I just ran into some folks in Cleveland oh who restore stream trains like you. I lost their business card but they said they knew of you and love the work you do on that side of the us.
Peak train show content.
Absolute cinema.

It was awesome getting to meet you there, and thanks for the sticker!!

Hello hyce good luck traveling with these 2. I hope you have a great travels best wishes and much love
That.....looks like the best outing for a train enthusiast like me
Great to see all of my Massachusetts sights, sad that the one year I decide not to go to the train show is the one year that you go.
I'll be making this a regular thing...
Nice! I was here! That was lots of fun at Big E Train Show This Year!
Was amazing getting to meet you and leighton at the show! Thanks for the photo, sticker and bird coin!
@3:31 well done getting a 757! those are rare AF these days, I hope you enjoyed those wonderfull RB211's!
Absolutely great video and even better that I got to meet you in person. Thanks again for signing the Colorado Midland book.
You can see the progression of time by what drinks the gang has in their hands
i would watch a chill stream of hyce putting one of the large wood model together.
This was much needed for this week. I was going to attend Amherst but my plans changed at the last minute (thanks Amtrak). Love the content Hyce!
This is gonna be good. It will be fascinating to see how much is different, but also how much is similar between train shows in the USA and here in the AUS.
11:20 good job blurring that lol
16:42 o no you bought it, that thing I'd so huge.
Fun Boston adventure! look forward to seeing more!
I’m glad I got to meet you at the train show! I hope you enjoyed your stay in Massachusetts!
Edit: at 37:53 Moxie is one of my favorite drinks.
It’s like a modern trumpet but confusing got me😂😂
Love it! I wondered why there was no episode of Railroader last week... Well, That would do it!
25:00 strange, i thought i could smell Kenosha for a moment there
Nice video! Y'all had a blast I can tell. So glad Leighton and Jimmy went with too.
Awesome video
Ok we're gonna need to see content of Leighton's O scale Sodor-ish stuff. That sounds so dope.
15:47 "The Tugboat, For Its Size, Is the Most Powerful Craft Afloat..."
The scenic spin around Logan is part of the boston experience. Wish I could've come down to Amherst.
39:07 It's weird seeing that place that busy. Usually whenever I look at that 0 6 0 there's usually nobody around.
Who needs sleep when this pops up at 3 am
I'm not even close to getting to sleep at 3 am, third shift is great
3:11 COCKATOO NOISES! You hast summoned thy aviation foamer to say, nay that be a 757, it be a 737 MAX!
(It has dawned on me that Jimmy was pointing the camera left, I feel stupid, but Leighton being up front got the buzz of the engines)
Can confirm, 757-200 N19136 for that flight 😊
I love Leighton's hat, as both I have the same one (I cherish it like a child) and 765 is my absolute favorite engine.
Nice seeing you there!
very enjoyable. thanks for letting us tag along
Oh boy oh boy, someone gifted me membership and now I'm here :D
Was there with my grandfather on Sunday! there's just so much stuff there! If only my shoes were better, the cement floors were brutal!
It was nice meeting you at the show!
It was fun to run into you for a split second at the show! Hope you come by again next year!
Planes, trains, and automobiles... *OH MY!* Seriously, looks like fun was had by all. 🙂
Right in my backyard! I’ve gone every year since I can remember!
goin to the glueyoursyster
So good to finally meet you guys! My friend was the one who made the “glass of meatloaf” joke
I inspired to be like Dusty's friend Jimmy from the cog with my jokes

I appreciate the boat details :D

@@Johndoe-jd Tell that to a semi-submersible heavy lift ship.
@@NorfKhazad you call also tell that to submersible dry docks. Its a rule of thumb
Reminds me of the few exhibitions I’ve been to as a kid here in Adelaide

....... I have so much to do this morning..... but I've been looking forward to the Amherst vlog.....
Looked like a lot of fun. Wish I could have been there.
Glad to have you folks in my locale!
Malden Massachusetts has the biggest model train store the layout upstairs is accessible to all
Hyce was right behind me, and I never even noticed.
Right behind you...
@Hyce777 aaaaeeeyyyggghhh!
42:15 The Blue Line ❤
55:26 More T
15:55 I have one of that and it is beautiful put together.
the east coast makes me so jealous, but then i remember that the east coast is confusing
lol I was there too and got to go to the Steaming Tender for dinner myself, wish I could’ve seen you

It's an airport baggage thingy Hyce, pretty sure they lubricate them with metal fragments.
I'm glad even the engineers got lost in Logan. And accidentally left Boston. We've all done it. That shit is crazy.
Dude if your still in the area go check out the Lowell mass Textile mills museum they were all run by steam. They also have street car and an old Boston and main steam cho choo in static display I always said to the national park employees they need to get this old engine going
After having driven through Logan, when they were down a tunnel, I can confirm every other word would have to be whistled out.

I was exhibiting with the Mohegan &Pequot! so bummed I missed you, but at least you met the WW&F guys
Dammit, I missed you being in Boston the biggest city near to my home
