That is an episode that I do not care for, I mean I think it’s the worst of the 90s and surprisingly looks worse than this episode. Also what the hell is up with the constant what I like to call eye porn in the episode? What I mean is when the characters get so close to the camera where all you see is their eyes.

The more I learn about this show's production, the more astounded I am that it became a reality. This show formed my childhood, and I liked it just as much as any secular shows, which no other Christian media did for me or has done since. It's impossible to pick which one is my favorite, since pretty much any VeggieTales episode before 2010 is great IMO. This episode is definitely a contender, due to nostalgia, but I've always loved Abe and The Amazing Promise, Wizard of Ha's, Ballad of Little Joe, World of Autotainment, Madame Blueberry, and Are You My Neighbor. Even though those stick out to me, there are so many episodes I can't imagine growing up without, just because of the music.

You know, it’s so sad how when Phil and Mike were pitching VeggieTales to other companies, they weren’t able to get any funding for the show. It’s all about “selling this” and “selling that”. Phooey. And the fact this brought them with doubt and despair is even more depressing. This kind of nonsense makes me so glad that services like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and Patreon exist nowadays because they can help give people with big dreams the funding they deserve in order to make those dreams come true. When I’m ready to launch my own company and my own cartoons, films, and music, I’ll definitely try those out.
But, you know, I wonder if they ever tried pitching VeggieTales to PBS. Maybe *THEY* would have given the show funding since *THAT* is what they’re all about. That would be really interesting and cool.

Great job! I think you're doing God's work.
    A few things:
    1. The following prints of this episode I have are as follows: 1998 Lyrick Studios VHS, 2004 DVD, and 2008 DVD.
    2. As an important reminder, VeggieTales' true premiere date was December 23, 1993, not the 21st. The people who ordered copies of the first episode didn't see it arrive until the 23rd or the 26th.

I think my favorite next to Jonah is Huckleberry Larry and Tomato Sawyer. The comedy was great and the lesson is one that still sticks with me today about knowing what the right thing to do is, even if its not easy. Joshua and the Big Wall was pretty good too, plus very memeworthy with both the "You'd think so wouldn't ya?" and Pa Grape talking about going back to Egypt with some clever wordplay like "plenty of exercise" and "snorkling in the Nile" without outright saying what ACTUALLY happened, that kinda writing just tickles my brain.

Me, Myself, and Bob is my favorite book (apart from The Bible), and Phil describing how he made Where's God When I'm S-Scared?!?, my favorite episode of VeggieTales no less, is my favorite section of the book.
The best part of that story for me is Phil says when he was putting animation frames on that tape that took a few frames, he would put like 30 frames one tape and then.... 14,970 frames to go. (Or something like that.)
Then he narrates: "It was a nightmare!" :)
PS: I think Me, Myself, and Bob would make for a great Christian movie. :)

I never watched the show growing because I had zero interest in watching anything Christian or religious. But the stories about how shows get made is always interesting. Every show, even the failures, have an insane, complicated backstory to them. I watched The Disaster Artist, and it doesn't seem nearly as crazy as some of the stories you've told. But I guess because Tommy Wiseau is such a character, it gets a movie made based on it. Even Air is a boring story. Good movie. Definitely recommend. But honestly not that interesting of a story. That just goes to show how talented Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are.

Media Mementos, can you do a complete history on why Stephen King’s The Shining (1997) miniseries is better, than the “supposedly classic film” directed by Stanley Kubrick. It was a lot like how Roald Dahl hated the original Willy Wonka film, where the director completely strayed from the source material of the story, changed drastic moments in the book-again that was a part of the original book, and it’s storyline-and disrespected the original characters and made them completely the opposite as they were in the novel. Stanley Kubrick was known as a perfectionist, and when Stephen King came on the filming set of The Shining, according to history, he was quite dismissive of the author and was very rude to him on set: telling him to “Get the fuck off the set,” or something along those lines. Even Stephen King, the author himself, hated the 1980 version because it changed the story and meaning of the book. He hated it to the point in 1997, where he worked with McGarris on making a miniseries adaptation of the book. Being a much more faithful adaptation; cause of Stephen King working as the screen writer, and executive producer of the series. There are some things that aren’t as good, though. Such as how the CGI that was used for the moving hedge animals, described in the novel, they are used as sentient guardians of the Overlook. They are used as mind games on people-preventing the Torrances attempting to leave the place, before and after the snow arrives. In the 1980 film Jack Torrance is depicted as a monster, as he is shown to be rude to Wendy (who is nothing like being described in the book), and Danny Torrance, who I will only give credit for despite the miniseries depiction, where he is constantly seen mouth-breathing every few seconds in between his wording. Jack Torrance is a aspiring writer, and struggling alcoholic; who’s constantly trying to do better for his family. The winter caretaker gig is his last chance for a second chance, after he lost his teaching job, when a student punctured holes in the tires of his car and beat the kid brutally after he did that act. The longer they are trapped in the hotel, one of his few jobs-before the snow came-was to vent the pressure off the boiler, repair the shingles roof, and on keep the hotel in good condition. Mr. Ullman in the novel is a nasty prick to him, but in the Kubrick version, he’s a light-hearted soul but with a little bit of doubt in Torrance. See what I mean? There is much more wrong with the Kubrick version, that Stephen King’s version got much more right. I don’t want to explain too much, because only then, I would be ranting. I only hope that you will do a detailed video about why Stephen King’s version of The Shining is much better, as you could do it justice. Compared to your last video, “Charlie is the better version” and the “Complete History of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”

0:25 Why did you stop making Media Mementos videos about VeggieTales until this patreon raffle won? Then again, I see the value in waiting until you have 41,287 subscribers to make another VeggieTales-related video, when you have more subscribers who can watch it. It is why you stopped giving each of the failed Fox shows from the 2006-2007 season and made a video documenting all seven of them two years later. You had under 1,000 subscribers when you talked about them individually, and over 30,000 subscribers when you made the longer video about all seven FOX shows from the disastrous 2006-2007 season. I do not even have a patreon account of my own. I just like to recycle and remaster my less important videos from yesteryear when I have a bigger audience who to watch them when they are new again.
