As an artist, who hangs out with artists who take commission, people telling them that they are not worth their rates and then get super butthurt when they don't lower them is depressingly common.
I mean he’s now basically clearly admitted that his earlier statement was a deliberate twisting of what actually happened, with clear malicious intent to cause damage to Jack’s professional reputation. This seems like the easiest defamation lawsuit ever.
Well, they’ll need to show damages if they want it to be worth their time, but yeah, seems pretty open and shut to me. My question is, do both Jack and the company have a cause of action here?
yeah, seems like a lot of people want art until they realize they have to pay artists fairly. which is why so many companies have art "contests"... they can get a ton of artists to submit work without having to pay any of them. don't fall for it, young artists! your labor has value!
still contests can be a good way to get a no name artist out there. even if its "free labor" you gotta do what u gotta do sometimes. not joining at all could be even worse than joining. its not like artist contests will just disappear.
@@newp0rt Eh truth be told it's almost always the winners who get there name out there, most people outside other artists won't really care who made the other pieces even if they think the art is nice. A lot of my friends are still getting a good amount of commissions and I hope people continue to see past bs and pay Independant artists instead of using ai or whatever. I'm hopeful as of now
I don’t think it has to be as polar as some people think. I think AI can become a useful tool if artists are willing to integrate it into their work. We’re looking at a John Henry situation at the moment and we can either die fighting the machine like he did or we can adapt.

Here is some generally goofy drama from the coloring book Community, courtesy of my grandmother: So you may not be surprised to know that there are issues between traditional artists and people who use digital methods. The main issues come up when people who use digital try to claim or don't clarify that their art is digital. More recently though, there has been a lot of uproar around people using AI generating tools to create coloring pages or full coloring books. The issues people are having include it being unfair to small coloring book manufacturers who put a lot of time into their work, the price for the book being the same as other coloring books even though it cost way less to produce, and people generally not trusting ai or are just against digital art mediums.
It is incredible to me that this man not only somehow wrote all this insane stuff to another company in an email, but then probably re-read it multiple times and edited it and then went "yup, this is badass let me sent this off". In what kind of world does he live?
Ok this is what I copy pasted for the definition of pantamime: pan·to·mime noun 1. a dramatic entertainment, originating in Roman mime, in which performers express meaning through gestures accompanied by music. 2. BRITISH a theatrical entertainment, mainly for children, that involves music, topical jokes, and slapstick comedy and is based on a fairy tale or nursery story, usually produced around Christmas. verb express or represent (something) by extravagant and exaggerated mime. "the clown candidates pantomimed different emotions"
I'm glad you talk about art stuff as well, there are so many people ready to shit on artists for whatever reasons we don't have anyone to speak for us or anything
..and you never will. AI art will take you job, your career, your soul and create a masterpiece that you will despise the rest of your life. It will consume you until there is nothing left.
I've heard of that before. Someone doesn't get the art they want for cheap so they slander the artist and bully them. It sucks but it really does happen to artists. The worst are the people who think art is just "a hobby" and that all artists should do it for "exposure". Lol, exposure doesn't pay the bills.
I can understand PosterSpy's decline. I've recently been declining commissions cause people wanna pay me $2 an hour for my art. If it takes me 5-6 hours to finish a drawing I shouldn't get paid $10-12 for my work! That's a low ball especially considering my art doesn't look like baby's first drawing like most artist who get paid more cause their art is digital. I get you can do more with digital art, but that doesn't disregard the time n' effort I put into my work! I'd at least want $7 an hour making the standard total of my art $35-42 a piece if I'm spending 5-6 hours on a single piece. Especially when digital artist can make a piece that looks worse than mine n' paid more than what I'm asking for.
Yo! I make entertaining videos as well. I know I am not the best rn but give me an opportunity, and I won’t fail to put a smile on your face! I appreciate you thanks❣️🙏🏽
Tom is like the living embodiment of Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore. The guy has like some of the worst insults to say to someone and makes it way too obvious that he is extremely envious of Jack
the answer is simple. there are only two sides and Whoever wins this argument in the next year or so. Will be who makes the rules regarding ai art. There is no middle ground. One side will be removed from society completely. History will be written by the winners. As well as the laws and rules. There will be no deviation from the rules set by the winning side either. So either ai art will continue. Or be regulated to the point that it is illegal to use. There is no future where these two sides work together in peace.
@@housemouseshorts another thing to add, even if it's regulated. There's barely any dent to hinder A.I art development. Considering anyone can develop and use a.i art technology for free.
I'm so glad that Charlie also thought of Metal Gear Rising with the "Change or die Jack." Made me immediately think of the Maxor dub where Sam says "Cope and seath Jack"
Tom reminds me of me a few years ago when I was in a terrible headspace. I reached out to someone about a project I wanted to have done and he got back to me saying that it wasn't really the type of thing he did. I was furious. I wanted to put him on blast and make him pay. I took that shit so personally. Thankfully I just stewed in my own head for a while and eventually dropped it. The point is, I was very unwell and needed help. Tom needs help.
Charlie is my favorite uncle who takes 3 hours to get to the point regardless of what he saying he could be saying hello and it takes until goodbye for him to get the hello out
as an artist AI art genuinely makes my blood boil, not only is it making artists not being able to be commissioned, but it's also literally stealing other artists' work. AI art doesn't come from nowhere, it's literally taking a bunch of different already made artworks and compiling them. Also it breaches copyright law, so if you're a PoS who uses it for profit and you get sued, it was deserved
This could be a defamation suit... Tom was fully aware that Jack did not suggest AI but, decided to not only put words in his mouth in a public post but, then also publicly doubled down. And it absolutley could have impacted PosterSpy's business with all the arguments over AI Art going on right now. That is the straight up definition of defamation.
As an artist, I am very involved in the art community (specifically, in twitter). I have friends and acquaintances that are also artists, and some of them make commissions. Now, what would be your reaction that this type of unhinged response is nothing rare? People that blow things out of proportion simply because they were told not. It's as if, because they're the client and they're the ones offering the money (in their eyes, saving a poor artist in distress), they're entitled to receive that art. It's wild, and honestly sad.

This is Nikocado Avocado level pettiness.
It could be worse, at least he didn't just steal art already made by an actual artist lol
This is so ridiculous, like even if that were true and Jack suggested AI, well you’re still the one who went through with doing it instead of telling yourself “nah that’s probably a bad idea”, but then again considering this guy’s IQ there’s no way he could’ve thought this through anyway 😂
One thing a number of fellow artists I've talked to about the subject of AI art has said is "The kind of clients who would rather go to an AI than pay an artist for their work are probably the kind of clients I would end up regretting working with."
This guy is definitely an example of that.
I am for AI art, but at the moment that is definitely true.
The people itching to jump to AI right away instead of real artists at the moment are probably greedy dudes trying to minimize costs.
As an artist, it warms my cynical dead heart to know that now instead of people calling me a douche or saying my art isn't that good when I reject commissions, there can now be random crazy assholes that will try to ruin my reputation and livelihood just because I want to value my skills more.
I'm an artist too and I'm mad that AI made my job irrelevant but that is the risk of having any job lmao why are you more special than labor workers replaced by robots? You're not and I'm not. Why artists would garner outrage and not any other jobbed person is beyond stupid. Get a grip, you entitled brat, you are not entitled to a job

Yeah. You should keep going with your hobbies, mate. Don't let anyone put you down as long as you are confident with your artistic skills.

I don’t think it has to be as polar as some people think. I think AI can become a useful tool if artists are willing to integrate it into their work. We’re looking at a John Henry situation at the moment and we can either die fighting the machine like he did or we can adapt.

Here is some generally goofy drama from the coloring book Community, courtesy of my grandmother:
So you may not be surprised to know that there are issues between traditional artists and people who use digital methods.
