Go for variety - and that means in everything. Use different lenses, from fisheye (great for taking shots inside the cars in the pit/start area) to extreme telephoto. Take pics head on, from the side, from behind; grouch down, get up high - don't just stand eye level. Take wide shots, close-ups, frame cars through trees/people/buildings, use reflective surfaces (glass, water etc). Use high shutter speeds and try extremely slow shutter speeds. Take pictures with the sun behind you or in front; notice where the shadows are at different times of the day. Don't put the car smack dab in the middle in every shot - find different shapes and colors on the track and use them to your advantage for different compositions. Look at how the road bends, frame the shot with cool buildings, trees, maybe there's something in the distance (mountains, skyline etc). And don't forget the pit/box area - there is so much more to find there.

    - Format SD cards the night before
    - Charge your batteries up and pack the night before
    - Look at other photographers work for inspo
    - Chat to others on track to network and learn from them
    - Get a variety of shots so they dont all look the exact same and same angle on track
    - Experiment outside your comfort zone and try things no one else is doing
    - Use a raincover on your camera
    - Avoid staying in one place the entire time

The other thing that is huge that you kind of missed is test and shoot and make sure the settings are correct for the venue that you are shooting at as every venue and day is different

Just started to get back into motorsport photography once again after a lengthy break. When i was attempting motorsport photography here in Malaysia we still had F1 and the Japanese Super GT series but sadly both have left the Sepang Circuit now.
Am glad i had two (three if you count the iPhone) cameras in tow during a Drift shoot last weekend and can relate to the shock and horror of finding i left my Zfc spare battery at home in the charger! I have 4 D500 batteries but only 2 for the Zfc and the one in the camera was down to its last bar. Fortunately i could still charge the camera using my iPhone’s battery pack but it was too cumbersome to hold along with the Zfc and 70-200!
Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff.
