Ah yes, Luna's hidden effect that allows you to normal summon her without using up your normal summon. Truly surprised Danny knew of it, most people just tell me I'm cheating when I do it but I call it surprise game mechanics
Fairy Tail Luna and the Magnificent Map.
danny is allowed to cheat because of how based his playoffs deck was this week
Gotta love how they gave Luna the same hidden effect as Exiled Force. So ahead of their time!
Lolz... That hidden eff surprised the shit outta me
"It's not cheating. It's surprise new rules I made up to advance my game state."
-EA representatives
There's something poetic about the first turn of the first episode having a misplay as simple as setting a monster immediately after normal summoning a monster
yea i don't play melfy so i was like WTF what card let's you do that lol
Ah yes, my favourite play: Normal summoning and setting a monster in the same turn
Yeah mine too do it all the time, and I always win!
they are playing rush lmao
They don't have the money for a rulebook
That just makes the outcome of the match funnier
The Progression Series special
Bro paying 80 in shipping for 5 dollars worth of cards is killing me inside
It’s 85 worth of cards, they can’t pay 5 bucks for those decks anywhere. This was stupid.
These decks are probably worth about 10-15 before shipping and handling they just took cards marked 2-3 cents with 99 cents s&h and ignored the 99
@@impendio you can definitely get VERY close. Shops would probably have every card here marked $0.25 or so and just throw a couple at you for free for buying bulk off them.
$5 is obviously a stretch, but $12 is definitely in the realm of possibilities.
@@amethonys2798 not with extra and _side_
I made a melffy deck because of this video for my girl. its a fun gimmick and the cards are cute, competitive enough with the meta and cheap. After shipping and handling the melffy deck came out to around $30. Not $5 obviously but as bad as $80
Danny really underestimated the power of $5 in this game. Joseph’s deck looked ready to take down a locals.

Common ash is priced like twice the budget of both of them xd

Yes new series! Broke boy has just the right amount of variation that the bidding series cimo had needed to truly be top tier, plus we get more joe and danny which is sweet!
"childhood obsession" shows the oldest yugioh player to exist that likely started playing the game when he was like 30

@@AstralLaVista I never said it was a bad thing. I want mine banned for everyone but Jeff Leonard. He is the only individual to play that deck in a cool way
@@thederpiestofderps yeah he's literally the only respected mine player
Jeff my boi XD
Me and my dad started playing 17 years ago and he is over 50 now lol
I built Generaider after listening to Dire talk about it and let me tell you it never ever gets old to overreact every single time to your opponent drawing for turn. I adore turning a core game mechanic into a miserable experience for every opponent.
This is such a neat idea - I love it! I'm just a bit thrown off by the editing on the video because it felt -very- spastic. "Here's the game state, but wait, Danny said something, so now show his entire video feed on the video so he can say "Okay, wild." just to cut back to his side of the duel, to have MBT go "I will activate-" and it cuts from his video feed back to his view to play a card-" it felt like it jumped around WAY too hard. I would rather prefer having the video feeds of both players over their Dueling Book section like Junior Journey has, to be honest.
Seconding this. It was obviously going for a different style of video to Prog or Junior Journey, more of a show feel than live feel, and it's not necessarily bad, it just needs to be adjusted a little. Definitely think adding the visual format of both people being on screen over their DB avatars and being more conservative with full screen video is the way to go.
Now THIS is the progression series for me and the $3 in my bank account!
Good luck with the 80 bux in shipping
I find it hilarious that the cards cost ~$5 but they had to actually pay ~$70-80 with shipping lol
Yeah, that kind of breaks the concept for me
@@explosionspin3422 it’s a bad commander quarters and that guy actually counted shipping
Doesn’t TCGPlayer have the subscription where it gives free shipping?
I love playing $5 (plus shipping and handling*) decks!
*$75 shipping and handling
When the Mekklord support came out in LED7 I was able to buy an entire the entire core for around $5.

@@createrz8433 limited removal with dreadnought leibe is funner
@@mattyorshin But think about the nostalgia
Loved watching both of y’all construct on stream. Can’t wait for more of this series. ❤️
I feel like the editing made it tricky to tell what was going on at points! I think I would have preferred it if the two facecams were where they are set in Junior Journey, makes it a bit clearer what they are actually responding to rather then having the cuts to each facecam.
I feel like VW gets overlooked as an ultra budget deck. Every single card from the deck is listed on cardmarket for 2 cents other than lulu (80 cents) and laolao (10 cents). And while paying half your budget for 3 lulus is a lot, you could either cut 1 or 2 because you can most likely always search it and also, the deck just doesn't need anything else that is expensive. Etelly is 2 cents, so is tracker and wheelderer and so are most ED cards that are commonly played in VW. I think even spending 2 bucks on crystal wing is worth it because good luck outing that with a 5$ deck.
Card market is usually a bit cheaper than tcgplayer due to the them being diffrent markets and USA price being higher for reasons
@@TheArcv2 what is VW
@@reyiven7625 virtual world
I tried making a quick order of VW cards few days ago since I heard it was very budget but then an unfinished main deck core easily surpassed €25 Incl. Shipping when you try to buy from 1 or 2 sellers. The only sellers I found that had the cheapest main cards 3 ofs at 33cents each and then some others over €2. It totally caught me off my guard after having seen the low min. listings. Mathmec on the other hand like a day before P.O.T.E. came out was dirt cheap and a full powered one minus expensive staples like ash and access code could've been made under €45. Too bad I missed picking it up.
@@hat_sauce3846 the problem is that big sellers only sell low rarity cards for very low prices while higher rarity cards that should be cheap (like vw) are way overpriced and only small sellers sell them for the low prices
Love the premise of the series but would really love more standard editing it was far too much jumping around. Also I would love more of a deck explanation maybe something like what you could add with more of a budget.
Yeah this is really hard to follow with a cut every few seconds. I think having the static dueling book field with each player in a corner is fine. Maybe switching perspective of the field depending on whose turn it is so we can see both players hands.
I personally liked the cutting back and forth, chaos in its best form
As a guy who only owns 1 YUGIOH deck that I made myself for 10$, I can resonate with this. Hope to see more broke boy episodes
I'm inspired to make a deck for $10 now. I was thinking I'd try my hand at Ojamas lmao
@@Puffzilla777 I went with Warriors, Ninjas and King Barbaros with some searchers. Ojama Delta Hurricane seemed like a good option too.

@@MercuryA2000 LOL YES
Great to see this finally take form, the cutting between the full screen facecams can be kinda rough at times, but overall, very cool new series
I really like the concept of this series, but personally I thought the constant closeups and perspective switches really made this video hard to watch. It would have been a lot cooler with fewer perspective switches; maybe only switching between turns.
Agreed. The constant closeups felt like the video jangling its keys in my face instead of trusting me to follow who's talking or find a bit funny on my own. Combine that with the constant perspective switches and it got really hard to keep track of what was going on.
I'd be fine with a static point of view that didn't rotate or switch during the game. I'm glad someone else found the field switching as jarring as me.
The biggest innovation by far is getting footage from BOTH player's perspectives
Pretty much everyone but Cimo does this.
Not really when you have close ups when CameraMan is talking, constantly switching screens, advancing board states without telling you who's turn it is.
I think people would be surprised by the number of decks available for $5. Deskbot, DinoMist, Appliancer, Generaider, Prank Kids, Superheavy the list goes on and on. And this is such an incredible content idea. I cannot wait for future episodes ❤️🫀
This episode is great and all but I mean can we all just take a minute to talk about that cool breakfast food shirt MBT has omg the drip is out of this world.
I LOVED this. Super fun to watch, I loved seeing Danny, and fantastic editing.
That said, I’m a little worried about MBT being really dominant in this series. His knowledge of the cardpool and different sets is absolutely unreal, and his vastly greater awareness of the options he could go for (and his ability to play the deck he picked well, because he’s played every deck under the sun) really showed. I’m just hoping it doesn’t end up with Danny getting 2-0’d every episode.
I like how they simulate not only a starting players budget, but also starting players skill level! Danny normal summoning Luna and also setting the Rabbit really added to the illusion.
We need more series like this -- embracing the idea that a budget or other such restriction is a benefit rather than a handicap. It forces you to consider avenues you'd never normally walk down (unless you're Dire) and has you making tough choices for a rewarding experience.
It's why I hock pEDH whenever I can to Magic players -- You CAN get high power with a small budget, and you'll definitely have more fun than netdecking what everyone else is doing.
This is a fun new series! I kinda wish Konami does something like this for their tournaments... only to realize how horrible that would be for everyone to have links or proof that their card cost that much, not counting shipping.
Konomi simply records the lowest price for cards releases a point table scaled to the price and has people construct decks that are under a maximum point threshold
konami officially acknowledging the secondary market might bring up the possibility of falling under gambling regulations so they’ll never do it
There is a similar thing for MTG budget commander, usually at a $35 price point. You can bring a more expansive deck, but you are also forced to sell your deck if offered $35.
@@patsen29 that sounds kinda really shitty
The closest equivalent is pauper/common formats that Magic and some other games have. Instead of being tied to cost it's tied to rarity since the majority of the time, higher rarity = higher cost.
this looks Fantastic as a concept and i already know I'll want more, thank you joe
Normal summon then set? 🤔
Dueling book is for cheaters. Or people who don't pay attention.
Good series idea but I'd see about editing the facecams differently, the constant full screen shot/reverse shot cuts were pretty nauseating and made the duel hard for me to follow
4:02 Hey that's me! Also, the breakneck pace of this editing is so chaotic yet refreshing.
This opens up so much deck building and jank, exactly what I come to MBT for
I'm surprised that no one went for appliancer. $0.15 for the most expensive card and has a game plan built in (no filler needed)
This is absolutely amazing and I hope to see more based decks in the future. I will be honest though the constant full screen cams are annoying and break the flow of the match.
I love MBT acting surprised about melfy, when he watched Danny build his deck on stream.
A little too much cutting to y'all's faces but I am so pogged up for this series
Posting this to put my two cents in on the editing:
I really like being able to see what both players have, and I don't think going back to just one person's viewpoint is the right call. However, I will agree that the viewpoint flipped too much - I think it should only be done when it's really important (Basically, when turns switch or when, say, someone draws a card during the opponent's turn and it's like...something that's going to change the outcome of the game, like a really vital handtrap or something that will come up that turn).
Putting the editing debate aside, I really liked the video. I loved seeing the process of building the deck, and seeing your reactions to each others decks. I think this series has a ton of potential, so keep it up!
i cant wait for people to price gouge/sandbag prices in real time to influence the series.
These are recorded way in advance, so good luck.
Love it! Awesome new series!
Idea : you could bump up the budget by like 10-15$ and include shipping.
Personally I find shipping cost is a big part of trying to play 4 cheap.
See how big the difference is between you guys in shipping cost, it kinda distorts the actual price.
This series idea is fantastic, love this because there are so many Decks that gets kinda ignored for most part and this resonates with me just because I prefer to build a ton of cheap decks than to have 1-2 decks. Love Love Love this.
"Generaider is not enough to be played alone" and thus Numeron was jammed in
And then he won with exclusively the Generaider part of the deck
This was so good! Already set up to be your best work this series is. Top 5 series on Yugitube in general too I'd be so bold as to say. Can't wait for the next one! Keep up the great work you two!

He activated Double Summon. Didn't you see? It's right.... there.... somewhere. Just trust me.
@@Saeohh What does puppy have to do with summoning Luna and then setting rabby on the same turn?
I love this! This was really funny. As a suggestion for future episodes, maybe think about extra games? Not to say make it best of 5 but I definitely wanna see the decks a little more since you guys put a lot of thought into the decks when it comes to getting prices on tcgplayer.
Been wating for this series for week. Such a hilarious premise and happy to finally see the full episodes.
Whoever edited this did a really good job, I love how manic the buying phase is presented, adds so much to the humor
Thank Christ! I have been pitching this idea to Yugitubers for years - think I called it Welfare Warfare.
So happy you did this.
It’s so weird watching this live and then seeing the finished product.
Having done a show similar to this (it was limited instead of constructed), I'm SO happy to see this style of format played!
Always good to see some Generaider love in these type of series.
Generaiders is one of my favorite archetypes, wish they would get a bit more spell/trap support tho
I like the idea of showing off cheaper ways to play the game, but does it really matter when shipping costs 1500% more than the cards themselves?
I mean irl you are probably able to splurge 8€ instead of 5€, and pick up cards for 5-10c a piece instead. Like I usually just tack whatever cheap crap I still need onto a moderately expensive purchase
shipping was only 80 dollars because he had 79 different carts instead of condensing it down to 1 or 2 sellers he was paying for shipping 80 times lol.
They cut it out here but in the stream VOD, MBT optimized the cart price and it ended at around ~$25
that's just cause they bought from 70 different sellers, you could easily buy from just 3 or 4 and the price would still be like $10-$15
@@Amberstorm1999 New series: Generous Whale Yu-Gi-Oh! Each player buys a modern tier 1 deck but each card in their deck (including dupes) must be from a different seller.
Cool series, just a little feedback for the editor: I think there were too many cuts back and forth between the two during the duel. It was a little disorienting
At this rate how to pay rent is gonna be the new hit survival show
Really nice condensed video, makes it easier to digest than most ygo series
This was fantastic, I'm excited to see where all this goes.
I have to admit, this is a great idea for a series. I hope it pops off.
This is genius. I love this series
I love to see more of this. Not sure if it will need extra rules to keep it fresh like a ban list. But please make more of this.
Nobody:
MBT: NOT SO FAST!
This is exactly what auction series should have been this is amazing
I like that the match introduction animation literally shows more money than both players had to spend on their deck, put together.
Even with Danny's misplay, this is a really fun series. I love these types of budget YGO series a lot, I'd love to see more and more of this series.
I love formats like this in card games. MtG has a community format called Penny Dreadful on MODO where each card has to be a penny(there are a lot of powerful rares that never found a deck). The funniest thing is that if the deck ever becomes tier 0 in the format, theres a good chance it auto-bans itself due to people buying it.
0:12 "...and the greatest game ever made."
"uh, normal Aleister?"
Due to my Bias (an Shiranui swallow slash being like 3 Cent) I think I'd just go Shiranui zombie goodstuff for this challenge.
The shiranui cards are generally pretty cheap as well (expect solitair) and some general purpose Zombies are pretty cheap (like book of life and jack-o-bolan)
I loved it can't wait to see more
Keep more of this coming. I love it.
I loved this series.
To be honest this series makes me want to build a Generaider Deck.
Please never end this series. I want at min 1000 episode!
I really like that "not so fast! I activate the effect of Boss stage"
Budget series of any hobby are always such a blast, and this one is gonna be such a fun deck building one!
Loved this nice dynamic editing! allthough I wish it was like 25mins especially when there are going to be longer duels in the future also a counter for the amount of money available after each card is put into the cart would be nice
This is a really great idea. I look forward to this series.
0:31 damn, long hair mbt was so cute
I fucking love this premise so much. I thought we were going to see paper play but it doesn’t matter. Let’s gooo
Great first episode, guys! Really excited to see how it evolves. But the sound levels and cutting really needs to get ironed out. Also, maybe it was more explained on stream, but I was confused how the budgeting really worked. You both seemed to be able to play damaged copies of stuff and I guess had to buy multiple copies from different sellers. It’s a funny concept and a good reveal mid-duel, but I would maybe challenge you guys to limit yourselves to just use the number of the lowest going rate since it’s the only number we generally see in the edit. Or at least show more of that process because I enjoyed the “buying” more than the actual duel. Time will tell, but have you also considered banning cards that have already been played, or at least trying different archetypes each episode? I assume certain cheap staples will always be good to use, but adding a bit of “progression” might make things more interesting between eps. Looking forward to more!
Good start! that double summon is poking fiercely at my ocd though, so i had to point it out.
Let's see how will MBT spin the budget deck concept!😁
And this is why I play a Generaider package in my Twins deck. Its such a fun package.
Luke looks like he's been stung by a Sting Lancer
On an off topic, Welcome to the City is a good background track. Nice one, editor.
I love the grind to find a deck! YGO Omega shows you the value of your deck in the deck builder:)
I love the idea for this series. I’ve always thought I wonder what the cheapest competent deck could be. I’m amazed at some of the prices of these cards.
This series is SO SICK!!!!
This is such a really cool concept for a series
Really liked the video. I wished you included the wheel banter at the beginning (I found it very funny watching on twitch)
So stoked! Love budget serieses!
You weren't satisfied with driving up the prices of old cards with the Edison format, now you will increase the demand of broke cards :(
I love this series gives me more ideas of what i can play with the limiting budget and its great to see a Danny and MBT Collab outside of the playoff series :D
I adore this concept
This seems like a very cool concept, I'm much looking forward to future episodes! MBTs Deck was actually pretty sick though Danny was definitely the moral victor and winner of the hearts with Melfys. So how does it work? I take it you're not allowed to use the same archetypes again? But I presume staples are fine?
And of course a big shout out to the editor, great work!
Timelords be like: LET ME IN, LET ME IIIIIN
This is such a cool idea for a series. Can't imagine what they'd build on the lowest spin of the wheel 😂
Finally a GOOD series.
rip the prices of any cards talked about on this series
really great idea, I hope to see more of it.
4:42 THINK BRAIN WORMS THINK
Pretty fun, good idea for a video. Could've used deck breakdowns since I have no idea what 90% of the cards do lol. Also, weird that the camera quality seemed worse during the duel than it was during the livestream clips. And the audio mixing on MBT's audio was too quiet most of the video. Technical problems aside, this looks like it will be a great new series once its a few more episodes in to iron out the issues.
I can't tell when it comes to camera quality, but I do agree on the audio part, MBT could stand to be a bit louder next episode.
This is an awesome series! I think it would be dope if you would spin the wheel for the next week at the end of the episode so we could speculate while we wait for the next episode, and then of course recap it at the beginning of the next one
