  • Bistek Tagalog is the Filipino version of Bistec or Beef steak, a dish made of strips of salted and peppered sirloin beef, usually flattened with a meat tenderizing tool, slowly cooked in soy sauce, calamansi juice, garlic and onions, a specialty of the Tagalog region.[1] It is known in the Spanish-speaking world as bistec encebollado or bistec tagalo. It is usually Anglicized in Philippine English as "beef steak."

    dear Foo,
    after cooking this the first time, I have cooked this dish 3x na in a row. I wasn't expecting my husband will like it :p he LOVED it!
    I cooked this for my daughter when she came to visit me a few days ago and now I'm cooking it (again) para i-show off ng mister ko sa mother nya LoL

    Oh i use the blade of the knife to smash the meat but with with little tenderness only so that it will not all cut into pieces ha ha ha! Now i learned from you the correct way. Salamat uli. Your fil subscriber in Oman.

    Hello, trying this dish right now, what kind of soy sauce do you use? Just regular or dark soy sauce (which I think is less salty).     Is Sirloin better than top round beef to use in Bistek? Outside of Rib eye and Prime rib, I don't know the best grades to use. Thanks for your recipe, looks very good.

      Sirloin and tenderloin are both better to use in Bistek. Sirloin is tastier than tenderloin however it takes time to tenderize, tenderloin, on the other hand, doesn't take time to cook, but less tasty than Sirloin. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching..:)

    sa unag sear nyo po nagkaron ng liquid, kinuha nyo ba ang liquid sa pan bago mag lagay ng second batch?

    Beef steak,ang husay nang iyong pag prepare nang beef steak bago lutoin ganun pala ang pag babad sa beef ilagay sa supot at lagyan nang rekado at ibabad mona bago lutoin.

    Im trying ur recipe now since wlang kalamansi dto sa brazil, lemon ung ginamit ko and ung toyo ko ay kikkomamn kc walng datu puti dto. Iovernight ko sana ung marinated kaso gutom n kc ako kaya mga less than 2hrs kinaya dhil gusto kona syang kainin sa dinner
