Aw that was excellent James. Though we live in a predominantly Greek neighbourhood, there's a massive Ethiopian community only a couple blocks away, and the dining is spectacular. We've never done up our own berbere blend, but this is a great project to undertake, and it makes for the base of some of our favorite stewed dishes. Misir wat, yes please! Thank you for this James!
Hey Suzanne & Sunny! Thanks for your feedback, really appreciated. I missed your comment, so sorry for the delay. I’ve just released another Ethiopian recipe. James
Awwww thanks for dropping by and giving your feedback. I absolutely love Ethiopian food & can’t wait to cover more recipes. Absolutely love your channel and thanks for your wonderful inspiration. James
Solid vid Hibb. Good point on notifications. I haven’t been getting them. Spiced food after 9 months India and double that in Asia definitely me. I’d never known of this spice from Ethiopia
Cheers Dan, thanks for the feedback and your support. Great to hear I've inspired something new. You can buy this and it's becoming quite popular. Hibb
Thank you James-- I was talking to you on the FB group tonight about my friend's injura and came here to take a look. My husband might want to try this. He misses the super piquant sauce-- I have a much wimpier Northern palette but I like the idea of being able to make the blend myself-- I could go low on some of the fire that way. Nice meeting you!
Thanks for your kind and lovely feedback. I’d definitely recommend using Ancho chillies, as they have amazing depth and are Smokey. It’s so versatile and forever using it in recipes and blends. James x
New subscriber here! I've never heard of Berbere- but it definitely sounds good! I've had Ethiopian cuisine before- so good. I love that you are incorporating more cuisines! And thank you for the tutorial- this spice looks so versatile-would love to try the Berbere spice popcorn!
Thanks Lauren! Not sure if you noted but this video was actually collaborated with Lomi, from our FB group. I’m friends with her in a different group too & was trying to inspire her to cover some cultural foods from Ethiopia 🇪🇹 So glad you enjoyed & hope you get to enjoy my latest videos too! James 😜

I love home made spice mixes, this one looked amazing, if they invent smellyvision i'm sure it was the bomb. Great how you save it for later and hope to see a dish with it soon - thanks for the idea and video
Wow!!! Now this is a real dedication for cooking and trying out different dishes/spices!! You did well with it! How long did it take you in total to prepare all this?? Lol.:) I can feel the spice and the smell in your house!! Yay for Berbere!!! Thank you for dedicating this video to me!! It’s another amazing video!:) great work friend!! Keep up the fire!!:)
Awww thanks Lomi! This is totally dedicated and inspired by you, so thank you. It didn't take to long to make and the roasting part is well worth it. It's the editing that takes quite along time, usually several hours but it's worth it. Hope this is authentic! Thanks for your feedback and hope you are making a speedy recovery. James x
This looks incredible and just up my street. I absolutely love flavour and spice. I tried Ethiopian food for the first time this year at Vegan Camp Out and I was not disappointed. I will 100% be trying more Ethiopian food soon. What would be the best dish to use this spice mix with? I'm ready to try some now :D
Thanks for your kind feedback and experience, really appreciated. I missed your comment, so sorry for the delay. It’s an incredibly versatile spice. I’ve actually just released another Ethiopian recipe. It’s great in a very basic curry called Shiro Wat but you can add it to anything, even coat your chips or wedges in it! James
Yes, I’m forever mispronouncing cultural and new words but I do make an effort to do my research and expand my knowledge. I’m so passionate about trying new things and discovering foods from around the world. Nothing better than Berbere and Ethiopian food. Thanks for your kind feedback. I’ve also covered Injera recipe, so I’ll have to create an ‘Ethiopian’ playlist. James 🙂📖
