Best play-through wargaming video I've ever watched... your style of narration makes it so easy to understand what is going on and is a great way to learn the game as well as keep up with the action. Thank you for these videos, very entertaining!
Stuka Joe, thanks so much for this video. I bought a copy of the game in 2020, played it wrong and hence was sceptical at having paid money for the game. Luckily, paying careful attention a second time to your play-through (yes, I watched once, but missed a key point about Japanese assignment that i only picked up watching your video again), I realised my mistake and now I really enjoy playing FCN. But I would not have realised my mistake but for your patience and the excellent quality of your video. Thanks for saving this game for me.
I had seen a review that did not give a very glowing appraisal of this game. I am so glad you took the fantastic time and effort to show this play through. this game seems to be everything that i hoped it would be! Thank you , thank you, thank you Stuka Joe !!! This will be a pick-up for sure.
Excellent presentation. I’ve seen enough to convince me that the negative comments on BGG are correct. Very abstract and convoluted play. Thank. You just saved me $120.00.
Thank you! Your candid comment is the reason why I like doing gameplay videos and not review videos (where people face a camera and just give their opinion about the game). I simply show how the game plays; the game should sell itself for what it can do. My pleasure in having saved you the money. Cheers!
Hey, ty so much for your video! I’ve just received the 2nd edition of the game and your help it was so useful, even if 2nd edition in somehow different. Only a question: at the very end of the video you return the planes to a damaged carrier, if I got it well these planes are destroyed, cause the damaged carrier can’t take them, is it true? Ty so much Alessandro
1:25 Again the rules say that CV' and escorts are divided into groups and if attacked by 1 bomber then each group can only attack once. There are only 2 Cv's as one group, and 1 attacking bomber, therefore there is only one attack. I'm I reading the rules wrong?
Hi Stuka Joe ! Love your films.. great work! Just wanted to check a rule. at 36:40 you rolled for an order that asked for 1 infantry to move, which you didn't have (the South order to Borneo). Should you have added an Infantry Battalion alongside those 2 LBAC ? Keep up the good work ! Ricky.
+Ricky Royal; Thanks, Ricky. Yep! I should have taken one Japanese Infantry Battalion from the Battalion pool and placed it in Borneo. The rulebook states at page 10: "When Japanese Forces are Moved to an Area with US Forces they may not always be able to take the maximum number of Infantry specified by the Order. If the Japanese Move fewer Infantry than are called for by the Order, take 1 Japanese Battalion from the Battalion area on the Map for each Infantry that was not available to move." Sorry about that. Cheers. Joe
+Stuka Joe question also, after this play, there is 1 LBAC left in the Philippines. With only 1 left, would it be assumed that there would be no move order rolled on this unit knowing that he cant move anyway? Earlier on I believe you placed a move marker on a unit that was the last one left on a space. Just checking, trying to grasp the rules...thanks to you and Ricky Royal for awesome videos.
I'm very impressed with the game as it presents the Historical struggle very well; the combat, supply and values of the ships aircraft and forces seems to be very well depicted. I think I would like to own this game for sure.
Zak Thank you, Zak. I used Oregon Lamination’s Corner Cutter, the 2.5mm radius model. Some people like the corners less rounded and use the 2mm. It’s a matter of preference. Cheers!
+ExBruinsFan That's perfectly fine, ExBruinsFan. The main purpose of this kind of playthrough video is to show how the game plays, so that viewer can make an informed decision as whether the game is right for him or not. Thanks for your candor. I really appreciate it. Cheers. Joe
+Ron Belcher I use the Oregon Laminations 2.5 mm. I had a previous version which was 3 mm, but to me the 3mm version leaves the corners too rounded, while the 2 mm practically cuts too little out. For me, the 2.5mm is perfect. Cheers. Joe
Stukaaaaa!!!, por qué tus vídeos no tienen la posibilidad de subtítulos??. Actívalos, porfa, será como acceder al Arca de la Alianza para mí, jejejejejej. Un saludo!!!!
i read the rules after watching this awesome vid (and thanks to this vid also bought the game) and it seems you did AAA fire wrong, you need to divide your ships up into rows (1 for carriers and 1 for escort ships BB/CRU/DD) each aircraft can only be attacked once from each row e.g. one fire from a DD/CRU/BB and one fire from a carrier (CV/CVL/CVE)
Damn Joe, I must be getting old. The Oscars are on....but I would rather watch you play this. Thanks for the vid! :-) Wow, I finally realized what that "whirlpool" special effect after 1:37:03 mean... Well, at least in this case. It means Joe is 'bleeping' himself after those crappy die rolls! lol!

Thank you, Matthew. Very glad that you enjoyed the video! Cheers!

Very good video Joe! Sold me on this game, it arrives tomorrow! Thanks for taking the time to explain it so well!
just purchased and unboxed.. this video made it easy to understand thanks
Another great video by Stuka Joe! Thanks a lot! I will certainly buy this game because of watching your video!
+Michael Weber Thank you, Michael.

Good presentation. Thank you
Thanks for this! I had recently received the game, but didn't have the time to dig in the rules.
This looks very nice. I tried to play Flattop! as a kid solitaire. I had no clue what I was doing.

1:11:33 The japanese fighters don´t attack the bombers in the coastal area?

thanks Joe ! You're videos are always a go-to for checking rules, I thought maybe you knew something I didn't! Thanks for the confirmation :)
+Ricky Royal You're welcome, Ricky. Love your videos, especially those on wargames, of course! Wish you the best. Joe

Awesome video. Gives a great feel for the game!
+kallisto73 Thanks, Gesine.
Long video but good one, having watcthed this one & Ricky Royal you guys have tricked me to buy a new game again. DON'T TELL MY WIFE!
+Peter Magro That's actually Ricky's fault. His series on the game is great! Cheers. Joe
Great video. You made this game interesting

Joe did you ever do a lets play of Fortress Leader?
it looks like this could be converted into a 2-player game without too much modification. is this correct or am i missing something?
Thx for doing this, I learned a lot.
Thanks, Dan. I don't have the game with me to check out your observation. Hope the video was useful. Cheers.
Excellent! Thanks, Jose.
Great Video... this will my frist CoSim to start with this type of games. What have you used to clip the Counters?
Zak Thank you, Zak. I used Oregon Lamination’s Corner Cutter, the 2.5mm radius model. Some people like the corners less rounded and use the 2mm. It’s a matter of preference. Cheers!
Hey Joe if you could only buy one, would you get Nimitz or Field Commander Napoleon? Thx
Personally, Field Commander Napoleon..
@@StukaJoe Thanks!
I am glad to see a new game of this setting released, but the game play is very tedious. I already own Flat Top and Victory in the Pacific.

I see your counter corners are "clipped". What is the dimension of your clipper? I have a corner clipper that does 2.5mm. Thanks for the video! :D

What edition is this version?
This video was of the 1st edition.
1:36 you seem to get it right here.
FANTASTIC!
Thanks ....I think I will try this game.
You're welcome. Hope you enjoy the game.

great job.
Big Board Gaming Thanks, Kev.

+GrumblingGrognard Thanks, Grumbling. Don't worry, I didn't watch the Oscars myself. Thanks for your support. Cheers. Joe
