The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the world's first smartphone with a 4K display. As its name implies it is also boasts of the most high-end spec sheets of any smartphone in the market today. Apart from its glorious 5.5-inch 4K display, we also love the fact that it has front facing speakers, a fingerprint scanner built into its power button, has provisions for an optional micro SD card slot, and is waterproof!
Editor's Note: We unboxed a demo unit from Sony. Most likely the retail version will include headphones.

Liked/subbed. A full review would be ideal, the sooner the better! As others have said, I too would like to know the screen on time you are able to manage with the battery. In addition, the most worrisome thing about the phone is how day to day tasks are internally rendered at 1080p and then upscaled. Subjectively, if you could report on how this works in practice that would be terrific.

That's great I just ordered one Z5 premium dual chrome. A little suggestion is that maybe u guys can add a part of a look at how much rom storage and ram spaces were occupied and how much are user accessible. This is a somehow important information that not many companies like to say.

I'm planning on getting the chrome Z5 the 4K display and camera capabilities is great. I will be able to watch my 4k vids from my Gopro hero 4 black. please make a full review to go into more detail with the camera features and quality and the phones performance.
Ordinary Z5 graphit black is pretty awesome..i will buy one..the best thing to have alongside the PS4 ,, and awesome screen and awesome design..everything is like what it should be

Sony makes very good cameras. Remember the iPhone 4S? Sony made that camera too. Many people used them for photos and while they were good, the Xperia Z5 and other Sony phones take it to a whole new level. I had an iPhone and I thought that was good but now that I have an Xperia, I get my eyes checked in disbelief because thinking the iPhone was so great I now feel like I must not have been seeing clearly and just never realized it.
Sony makes the best camera sensors, but other companies optimize image processing and software much better than Xperias. Therefore, although sony has the best hardware, it falls behind the latest iphones and galaxies in point-and-shoot mode. If you're using manual for every shot, Xperias are the best!

yep 4k phone with 4k screen, but you can record 4k for 3 minutes before the phone overheats and shuts down, poor thermal design
Carl Shaw some do that but mine doesnt. the screen isnt 4k though wish it was!
You are absolutely right. What is the purpose of having 4K video camera if you can not watch it in 4K display. Sony Xperia z5 premium is the right choice.

Have been using Sony for a while now and i recently got this phone. Was debating over whether to try using an iPhone or continue with Sony, but i stuck with Sony instead. The factors to consider getting this phone over the iPhone, firstly, it's cheaper than the iPhone 6s in my country plus there are more features on the Z5 Premium.
And i personally think the iPhone is a bit overpriced. For a 16GB iPhone 6s, you can get the Z5 Premium at 32GB. Not to mention the expandable storage, water and dust resistant rating plus the 4k screen that the Premium has.

I've been with Samsung on all my past phones. Sony is really starting to make themselves stand out in the phone department. Loving it!
Good review. Simple. Precise. I wonder if a detailed review is truly necessary? There is no perfect product and certainly each person has their own preferences and biases. It will take long term hands on experience to really get to know a product. An review can only do so much. As long as it helps the viewers to catch a pain point then the job has been done.

great initial review! i do have a question though with regards to the fingerprint sensor and the front facing speakers. does the fingerprint sensor have other functions integrated by sony? say locking the gallery or other apps and also how good is the quality of the front facing speakers is it exactly like the normal z5? cheers!

Yeah One thing is actually make sense about this smart phone,many of the flagshp smartphone can record in 4k but non can play it,sony has solved that problem

battery life on this phone is shit
#Carl Shaw, have you tried it? It has an amazing two day battery life, and it works perfectly.
why can't company's design phones that allow fast CPU's to be cooled, Microsoft brought out the 940 and 940xl, both have liquid cooling, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to work it out
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a dual air heat exhaust, which is still good, but to be honest, I haven't tried a phone with a liquid cooling system😊, maybe it's better than dual air heat exhaust, or it just has the same performance.
I take your advice and bought premium chrome color, thank you, but my worries I can't get tempered glass.. the phone need that or I take resk of using it out side the door, please advise me. thanks
