Interviewing Harsha about Indian Cricket history is akin to asking Sanjaya how was the Mahabharata. Shri. Bhogle is indeed the modern day incarnation of Sanjaya, the Sutradhar. I can imagine how he would narrate any other historic event, which is beyond Cricket and it almost always sounds soulful yet mesmerising.

Harsha was my hero growing up. I wanted to join that program where Gautam Bhimani participated and won to get a broadcasting job with ESPN. Have been following him so closely since the mid 90s. I loved Sourav's stint as a commentator but it was very short lived and i wish he had more time for the audience. Tony Grieg, Richie Benaud, Geoff Boycott, Harsha Bhogle, Mike Holding and Mark Nicholas have done a stellar job over the years with their commentary.

I only felt bad that Harsha missed mentioning Charu Sharma when he spoke of commentators initially. Ashwin, after the IPL, please continue this. You've done extremely well on this platform and you've actually nearly secured yourself a job after you choose to retire. Trust me. The research you've done before interviewing all these people we've looked up to, shows in your questions and it shows the depth of your interest. I'm amazed at how well you are able to articulate yourself and ask such relevant questions. On this episode, truly, your homework didn't matter at all; because, Harsha lead you to question him further, with his answers. Immaculate is an underrated word here.

But one must say a modern day successful INDIAN cricketer must :-
Be talented hardworking disciplined etc etc
But additionally importantly must know to live under the cocoon (similar to lockdown minus social media)
I say this because I get emotionally hit back by seeing posts by X fan club against Y player. (If I as an neutral Indian team supporter get hurt so much.) can't really imagine being the person under scrutiny/trolled/hated/criticised however you put it.

Thank you Ashwin and Harsha! This is one gem of an hour in these troubled times. I wondered about many of these questions regarding cricket broadcasters, especially Harsha, even though I do not aspire to be in this profession. He is a role model not only in cricket broadcasting but as a media person, a diplomat, and as someone who bloomed and evolved among changing adversities in his professional life. Lastly, I agree with Harsha that with the knowledge Ashwin holds regarding the history and the grammar of cricket, he would definitely be an excellent cricket commentator/broadcaster. If anything, this episode is an excellent example of his sharp interviewing skills as he picked Harsha's brains like an experienced miner mining a diamond mine.

You are interviewing a person with good knowledge on cricket and other aspects of the game. I think harsha bhogle simply changed the dynamics of commentary. As a school kid i thoroughly enjoyed school quiz as well as ind vs pak quiz ( represented by ex players of respective teams).
Ashwin chose the right path in interviewing harsha bhogle and giving a broad view on early days of indian commentary.

Just came across to this chat video while browsing cricket videos casually and in one blink an hour passed just like that. Mesmerising discussion and great insights shared by Harsha the legend. Must watch for every fan of Harsh Bhogle.

Ashwin is cutting, incisive.. i cannot recall more trenchant questions from any interview....I can understand easily why he must be perceived as a threat...Ashwin is his own man... He has been exceptional... Excellence..

Whenever there is conversation between Ash & Harsha, it's like a saga to watch. Just like Magnus Carlsen & Vishwanathan Anand, just like Kohli & Sachin, just like you would love to hear Big B & SRK; an encounter of cricketing intelligence between a certain 'Master' and a not-so-relevant but heavily impactful 'Protege'....!!! Ash really has so much to offer to the sport, even outside the cricket field also.

This conversation is the clear example to prove that when two like minded stalwarts in their respective fields lock horns, they put each other constantly in a spot to bring the best out of them.
