I was a young teen when I found them my mom HATED it but I LOVE them. I was always told as a black girl I shouldn't listen to this kind of music but I'm 27 and still listen to it ❤❤
Nice reaction And you have to know that the band got a grammy for this song Also is a reference for the war in Iraq and why presidents send only the poor.

@@OhrionReacts I think what's so special about BYOB is, it has more of those classic metal vibes and riffs, compared to a song like Chop Suey, but at the same time it has these almoust R 'N' B sounding breakdowns as chorus. It's a bit like Iron Maiden + a club beat to dance along. 😂 System of a down always surprises, with something different.
My gateway bands were Celldweller and Blue Stahli. They're both one-man electronic rock/industrial metal bands. I got into Celldweller first cause he has songs in Need For Speed Most Wanted 2005 which I really loved. Some friend at school realized I was kind of a metal fan so he gave me this huge file with albums by MIW, Asking Alexandria (the two bands in my username), Seether, A Day To Remember, Deftones, Rise Against, Three Days Grace, Suicide Silence, etc. I didn't get into most of those bands though although they did show me how different and special rock and metal music is. The first metalcore song I ever heard was Black Damask by MIW and it terrified 14 year old me lol. You probably haven't heard it, but just know it's heavier than any MIW song you've reacted to.
More SOAD, please! I feel like I'm listening to the song for the first time again, watching your reaction. It's a great feeling. Sugar is crazy, you should hear it! P.S. Also, thanks for your Jinjer reactions. Hello from Ukraine!
@@OhrionReacts Not quite. I have to travel to Vancouver as it's the closest area near me for concerts. Rather expensive to do as I'm far north west of BC. Link is posted below: ruclips.net/video/og1ZtP1Vmy0/видео.html They're from Hamilton Ontario I believe. I found out about them as they were opening for Jinjer so I was curious to know what they were about prior to going.
In this case i really am a bit surprised that you didn't hear them before (wont complain, i like people diving into metal or any non-mainstream music, it brings back memories).
Oh yeah, system of a down is a super political band for sure, but even if I agreed or disagreed I usually never paid much attention and just enjoyed the music. I'd suggest another song but honestly anything of theirs will do, they're all great. Although I will add that one of my personal favorites is Aerials.
Their music is great, don't get me wrong. I don't think I've ever heard a band with a similar sound afterwards. Every member has their own key to the secret formula and it's what makes it so good. BUT And I say that without any negative feelings, One should pay as much attention to the riffs as they do to the message. I don't think I've disagreed once with the sentiment in their songs. They come from the east, practiced a western music genra that is all about rough feelings and thematic violence. You cannot not talk about the substance ! The music holds up the words as much as they hold up the music and Serj's sense of rythm is insane.
So a band called DED dropped a next single “ Eyes Sewn Shut”, love to see your reaction to them if you haven’t already heard of them. Very early 2000 Nu-Metal vibe to them
If you like SOAD this much (and you should), you MUST try Rage Against the Machine. They were the SOAD of the 90s and 00s. Heavily political. Incredibly important bands, the both of them. You will find RAtM's music still totally applies today.
It's funny. I was just talking about the song from Protest The Hero - these colours don't run. 5 mins before you said this. I can't say I know that song 🤔
Knew you'd really dig this one! It's probably my favorite of theirs. Now, I don't normally suggest this kind of thing, and I don't expect a reaction or anything but, in your own time, definitely go look up Trust Me I'm A Doctor's cover of this song. I randomly stumbled across it and it's SO dope. They did BYOB justice. Go check it out when you get a chance and let me know whatcha think 😁🤘
If you enjoy this band, check out the Japanese equivalent: Maximum the Hormone. The band is amazing, also political(although in a different language.) But the music, the music is amazing. This song is where you should jump in, if you're interested. Maximum the Hormone; Yoshu Fukushu. ruclips.net/video/beN5ep5MrdY/видео.html an amazing experience.

Great reaction and I love this song. But by god do I hate clean versions of any song. Hey sure, lets just take out the words and act like they don´t matter or as if the voice isn´t also an instrument so baby jesus doesn´t cry. And I know this is the fault of youtube and its advertisers, but it just annoys me that these clean versions even have to exist.
