I hope you enjoy this piece from Darkest Dungeon II.
Leave a comment and let me know what country you're listening from.
Greetings from the danish in the dead of night
Welcome home Stuart, such at is. Thanks from France !
Currently listening from Japan.
Love DD II OST just as much as I loved the first game's OST. Thanks for your good work!
Much love from Argentina, can't wait to hear this in the game!
Greetings from Russia, finally the second part of the game about my country!
Slowly, gently, this is how a great soundtrack is released.
the highwayman just looks so done with everything
can't blame him
Poor Dismas(
If it was up to him, he might find the prospect of oblivion a release. But he knows that he's got no right to decide for the rest of the world.
Well if I'm reading it right, he lost his buddy Reynauld.
"It is what it is" kind of guy
" A little hope, however desperate, is never without the worth. "
“In crisis, no gain is insignificant”
"slower your guard, soften your gaze, it is safe here."
I had played the game for barely 1 hour and I was already subconciously whistling the music. Thank you for this mister Stuart
That's awesome. I like music you can whistle.
@@StuartChatwood I too frequently whistle your music; thank you for so much of it!
@@StuartChatwood That's the mark of an iconic soundtrack which you've definitely created for these games. Thank you and you should be very proud of your work!
*"A moment of respite. A chance to steel oneself against the coming horrors."*
Everyone knows the best way to clear your mind from the eldritch horrors is with a warm meal and a mug of ale.
It’s the little things
Oh boy, it's time to spam playing cards and pray i don't get negative relationships :D
"A simple mathematical challenge."
"I'll shuffle."
"Never let soldiers play for money."
"No sneaky fingers dealer! I'm watching!"
"Was this your card?"
"Have i ever explained you the symbols on these cards?"
"A pleasant distraction or a tool of divination."
I like how every character has now an unique attitude.
The plague doctor is just lost on it's own thoughts..
The grave rober is already used to this.. to the death and the bloodshed..
Dismas is just dealing with all over again.. preparing himself to endure another dying friend
The man-at-arms is that old warrior, resting his body as he knows the combat would be brutal
Great analysis
Wdym another dying friend? Only tell me if it's not part of the 2nd games lore.
@@scaryscottishclown7151 Dismas was in the firts game with Reynauld, a Crusader, both are the first characters you play in Darkest Dungeon 1
@@scaryscottishclown7151
well...there are two important character that isn't present in this game. You need two sacrifices for the final fight in the first game. The original two out four heroes are present in this game, and one of them have been with the crusader since the beginning of his journey on the old road.
Take a guess.
I'd say more that the plague doctor is overly rationnal to flee from the hard realities, but you can feel she lost some of her mind;
The Grave Robber has that hopeless feel of "I've quitted everything for treasure, and now I am the last hope of a money-less society". Such bittersweet in her!
Hasn't Dismas found some redemption?
I love so much the Man-at-arms back story. The selfish rich officer that is haunted by his own incompetence, and now he has to fight like the mediocre soldier he was. But in the dark corner of the Hamlet, he found himself the soul of a true hero.
Dismas and barristan always ends up being lovers in my playthrough lol
Oh look, more music for my D&D campaigns.
Stuart, you've done the world a service today. Thank you 💜
More to come!
1 year left to get to play this game. (No PC, planning to build one)
4:04 this melody... this melody...
That riff at 4:04 is a critical stress heal
What I really like about this piece how it runs parallel to the campfire theme from DD1. I love how it emanates a pervasive sense of weariness, fatigue and gloom in lieu of the sweet and delicate peace of a campfire. This thick atmosphere where the proverbial walls creeping in ever closer and closer as the light threatens to dim at this dilapidated shoddy inn
Hmm, how to describe it? It has both a feeling of respite, but also this bleak "How long do we have to do this, until finally something changes?" feeling to it. The last part especially sounds like the local church quoir is singing to encourage.
I think saying that this is a great piece of music is both superfluous at this point and a massive understatement. Waiting in Germany until 1 a.m. in the morning is definitely worth it. Hope i can still sleep and are not humming the melody in my head all night.^^
Since the Heart of Darkness is canon, they have probably been on this road for far too long now. The road to ruin is filled with despair, and even in death your struggle will not end.
Well, giving how they always look like they were in the lobby after failed a hard stage again, you were right.
Stuart. With this the Inn feels more like a place haunted by the heroes that have come and gone in the service of the player. The Inn feels less like a place of respite and rest and much more like a gate to the afterlife, like it's the last place so many heroes drank their last before setting off on the expedition that would take their life. So many have left this place and not come back, certainly it is only a matter of time before your last visit to the inn arrives.
Your work has always communicated the themes of the game so well but you nailed it here, making me see an Inn a way I've never imagined before.
These soundtracks are such a huge part of the games immersion. They really make you want to keep playing more. Cannot wait for the full release!
Brings tears to my eyes for some reason. The feeling of world coming to an end. Flawed human beings gather what strength and hope is left within them to fend off the devouring evil that spreads relentlessly across the land.
Beautiful theme. It sounds romantic, nostalgic, wistful, sad, and hopeful at the same time.
This song, feels like coming home on 2017. I was poor, my girlfriend was sick, my job was soul destroying and when I got through that door the damage stayed as I crumbled into my chair.
still my favorite piece from dd2... the atmosphere is just soooo gooood, i listen to this very often. i personally practically consider this to be "dd2's theme".
We're all like Dismas while listening this meanwhile Stuart would be like Barristan
You’re an absolutely amazing composer! The amount of atmosphere, world-building, and concept you are able to design and weave into your songs is truly astonishing.
This track oozes Lovecraftian ambience with even a hint of witcher with the strings. I feel like for these characters, it’s but a small but uncertain respite from the horrors of the road. I can’t wait to get this game
This is honestly one of the most hauntingly beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. I can't stop listening to it. And I'm not ashamed to say it brings me to tears. 10/10 mate.
Thanks for the kind words. This cue is one of my favourites.
I can't tell if the characters are actually moving in their idle animation or if my brain's just filling it in because now I expect them to move so fluidly.
Either way, this is a great theme that conveys the sense of temporary hospitality that's much welcome in a ruined world. And the main theme being in it is just epic.
They move a bit when he cursor is on them with an inn item ready to use
This one is fantastic. Very somber and wistful. Perfect complement to A Brief Respite from DD1. You can feel the tension and weariness of the adventurers as they steel themselves for the gauntlet ahead, doom gnawing at their nerves.
Yes, a continuation or reference to A Brief Respite was one of the intentions of this track.
Woah. Not going to lie, so far your pieces have really stepped it up from great in DD to amazing in DD2. This still has that vibe of a long-awaited yet transient downtime of A Brief Respite, but is much more complex, intricate and emotional. Really amazing thing you've made here.
Circle in the dark. The battle may yet be won.
ah yes i always like the Hamlet from the first game, now this, a perfectly music for an inn, it soothing me for all the chaotic mess that i've been through in the dungeon makes it so much worth it
"A moment of clarity in the eye of the storm...."
-The Ancestor
Ever since I heard this game would have a more "hopeful" yet still desperate tone, I was eager to hear how you would cover this feeling in the soundtrack, and I gotta say, you did a damn good job at it. Keep it going man.
highwayman : "how can i pay my bills "
Huddled together around the hearth, relationships strained to the breaking point, do well to collect yourself here. A spark without kindling is a flame without hope.
What I feel about this :
"This is the music that I want to hear when I've reached my home after tiring work, and cold rain, sitting on a couch near the fireplace, but realizing that I have to do work again, probably until the end of my life"
So characteristically "Darkest Dungeon"... So hopeful... Yet another fantastic track. Thank you!!
Can't wait to hear this Stuart. The main theme was fantastic
Oh god this is so amazing. You feels so much the sad nostalgia of a crumbled inn in the middle of atrocities, just a glint of respite between the abomination, treason and helplessness. That feeling when you've traveled through the cities eaten by fire fanaticism, finally arrived at the inn, just play some card game to forget the uneasy companionship. Feels so deeply "hot and cold", bittersweet like nostalgia.
Amazing work, the game is so promising for an early access I am in love, been waiting this since so long!
Another piece from the genius composer awaits us, rejoice!
Sitting here in Sweden listening inside the house in +22°C on your amazing Soundtrack for Darkest Dungeon II.
You have masterly putting tone, tempo and music to "Deal with the hand you have been given no matter how bad" is such a fantastic way.
The Winding Vally music is so hitting me so much on the emotional level.
Just got the notion that im in my later years have started to get "allergic" to being exposed to the direct sunlight for just some minutes.
Sun finaly shines on my part of the world and i can only go out in it while fully dressed.
The Sadness in the tune, but faint hope in it is just how i feel atm. It could have been so much better but also alot worse.
Thanks for supporting my music. I look forward to visiting Sweden one day.
Every time i have got some vibes from resident evil series music in safe room. Well done!
your work is amazing!!! 🤩 anxiously waiting here in Brazil🤯🤯🇧🇷
Thank you so much!!
Can already tell I’m gonna love this soundtrack as much as I lived the first game’s one. Do wonder when this’ll be out on Spotify so I can add every track to my playlist.
I've heard a lot more tracks from the game itself, and I must say, they are pure aural eargasms, pure bliss. Combined with the Wayne June's narration, your intro track set the atmosphere so well in depicting determination in the face of gloom and despair
Excellent theme remind me of Gaunter o' Dimm Theme from the witcher series , hats off to you sir
The one dislike is from a game journalist that lost all heroes in the tutorial.
I bought the game a few hours ago, and beated it in my first journey, your music inspired me and my characters, i will wait for new chapters to release, and carry that Glimmer of Hope onward with your masterpieces Mr. Stuart. Thank you, your music is in our hearts and minds.
genuinely, the thing i was most excited about when i heard about darkest dungeon 2 was that we'd get more incredible tracks from you
listening to this from india :)
The man, the myth, the legend! Thank you as always for you splendid tracks! Can't wait to hear more from you!
I’ve been looking forward to hearing more of your amazing work since I saw the teaser for this game. Such a somber yet hopeful peace with bits and parts of the Main Theme. I can’t wait to hear more.
Ever since the early access launch I've been hoping you'd post more of your amazing work. I've been looking forward to it!
What a perfect emotion this track brings out, it enriches the inn so much. I take my sweet time in here because for me, just like the heroes, this is my only time to really close my eyes and just take it all in. What a great piece.
a masterpiece, your work is really what is needed for this game, thank you
You outdid yourself yet again, just marvelous! Thank you Stuart for this amazing piece of art!
This sounds like if the characters are losing hope but still clinging to what is left, like if they are unsure if they can save the world but still forcing themselves to keep on going, thats the feeling i get from this piece.
If I could only see what goes through a composer`s mind in the process of creating a piece like this... It has always puzzled me - what happens in between the silent moment he grabs a blank sheet of music paper and the moment when the music invades the minds of the audience... Although you too could never peek into our minds and see how your music makes us feel the first time we collide with, at least I hope you get our word for it, Mr. Chatwood! Thank you for the wonderful experience!
This is a masterpiece ! Thank you so much for your amazing work Stuart ! from France :)
honestly it feels really good listening to those tracks out of the game, to properly apreciate them, they go so well with the rythm of the game. its like it is making one with it and you just apreciate it all as one piece of art, but that music could tell the story on itself. amazingest of works
I am glad to see you back for the sequel. Always loved your tracks
Thanks a lot for your work, this song is really awesome !
From France, with love
Im so happy you did the music for the second game
A relaxing tune worthy of a lengthened rest after fighting unspeakable hordes of monsters. Loving this soundtrack so far, I tip my hat all the way from Uruguay to you, Stuart!
Easily one of my favorite tracks across both games. It sets the mood and atmosphere perfectly. I could feel myself getting pulled once more into the game world as the track played.
Incredible work Stuart.
I like the dark but yet relaxed theme of this one. I love DD2's music!
Thank you for Uploading this one
The soundtrack's you create are amazing. The sadness and tragedy, and the hope behind some of them. Greetings from Portugal!
Once again absolutely stunning, the world has another masterpiece of storytelling in game and music in its midst. You guys knocked it out of the park with this one, and it wouldn't be the same without your score. Thanks from all of us
Stuart, you’ve outdone yourself once again, you magnificent composer.
Yay ! That's nice. Love your work dude ^^
From France
Hello from Poland Mr. Chatwood. In this track I can hear your experience and easiness in creating memorable and masterful tracks. For me you are no. 1! Thank you very much for your beautiful soundtrack full of different emotions from misery and pain to hope.
This game wouldn’t be the same without such an amazing ost composer. Keep up the good work!
You are one of the reasons that make this game great stuart thank you. Game certainly wouldn't be same without you.
Beats to chill/vibe/regret the failures of your past too
Love the atmosphere of this piece. Great stuff to paint and draw to! Cheers from Australia!
Love Your work! Waiting impatiently!
From Mexico, just wanted to say you freaking kill it with every single song, not much to say, amazing job
Not a day goes by where this doesn't play in my head since I picked up the game at launch. Phenomenal work conveying so many emotions in an instrumental piece.
Can't wait for the combat tracks to release and for every table top role playing group alive to now have even more music to make great memories to!
Here's to you Stuart.
Thanks for populating our imaginations and helping us achieve steps towards self actualization.
With how Highwayman has his head slumped over like that I think he still quietly mourns Reynauld even if his stress is zero
I'm from Turkey, and I love your work, man. You and Wayne June are the soul of this game.
Oof. Definitely going to be writing my thesis to this. The field hospital is also one of my favourites thus far; I've just sat there idling while it goes.
The music is what creates the atmosphere in darkest dungeon, thank you for the fantastic music.
Oh dude... Cant wait! Greetings from me and my wife from Poland.
sto lat!
@@StuartChatwood Get some drink and Na Zdrowie!
The music is very mature in its style. Its really kinda.. depressing you in a good way. I know it sounds weird but those are my feelings. Im happy that so far music is not dissapointing, cant say the same about the game :(
Thank you Stuart your work gives the game a soul
Oh, thanks. I love your work!
Shout out from Portugal! A Brilliant confluence of melody and rhythm !
I can't wait till the heavily string base combat theme is on here so I can add it to my Darkest Dungeon Playlist. I've got one for relaxing writing and another for intense scenes. Your works are beyond art
All the music is amazing, a huge leap from its predecessor. I can't wait for the next soundtrack.
"Lower your guard, soften your gaze, it is safe here."
Yet another banger from one of the best composers I've heard for a game
The subtle accordion is perfect.
What a amazing sountrack! i love it...
greetings from Chile
Another masterpiece! Keep em coming Stuart!
I'm also Canadian, currently studying to become a video game designer, will be graduating in April and entering the game industry soon. Hope to meet you some day!
Please get this ost out of my head. It has held me hostage since release of early access
the work and affection you have for this game is impressive
The melody at 1:18 really reminds me of a portion of Gaunter O'Dimm's theme from the Witcher 3... Fantastic soundtrack.
Man, I can't wait until you release the combat music. For real, I've been humming it to myself all day.
Stuart, this is magnificent as always. Listening from Russia, love your work since prince of persia, keep up keeping up!
Thank you for this.
I'm from Russia. The atmosphere that your music creates, is just incredible! Thank you for your work.
I enjoyed this composition, man
Another Masterpiece! Thank you very much
Glad you enjoy it!
Truly - wouldn't be a Darkest game without you
This song is so catchy my goodness
amazing job 😍😍😍
